Has anyone regretted getting a white kitchen floor? Has anyone regretted anything they chose for their kitchen actually?

Basically i can't chose what i want in my kitchen and it's driving me insane!

I think i've chosen a quartz worktop (calacatta with a thin additional vein of copper in it) and i think i've chosen a magnet cabinet style (tatton) but for life of me i don't know what colour to chose for the floor and to be honest can't chose the colour of the cabinets either!

If i go with a white floor to echo the quartz will i regret it? At least white/white means the cabinet colour will be easier to chose? No?

Heeeeeelp Grin

Oh @Laiste - I have started on the decision making treadmill... 😆 Went today to have a look, checked out 3 showrooms.
Had cashmere in mind originally, now contemplating a very pale 'pearl' grey! Not sure what colour worktop to have with cashmere. 🤔
I want pale units, so I can have dark worktops, as I just know DH will spill curry on it and stain it. 🙄 Unless you are aware of any worktops that don't stain? Don't mind paying top price to get something I want.

Have a couple more showrooms to check out but that will be next weekend, probably.

Quartz seems pretty good re: staining @Horsemad. From the vast quantities of reports and reviews i've read it seems that even the white quartz will only stain with certain red spices left on for ages. Or those everlast sharpies. And then that bar keepers friend stuff is recommended to get it off. There's a you tube vid of someone leaving a variety of things on quartz over the weekend and then wiping with water ect. I'll have a look.

I've been using a lump of it for a coaster next to me for 3 weeks now and tea/coffee and blackcurrant lemsip left all night doesn't stain it. (wet finger wipe off Grin) (black currant lemsip does stain our current old pale laminate).

Cabinet colours - get samples if you can. Quartz people seem to love to give out samples too. It all looks so different when you get them home in your natural light.

Oh and once you've got your quartz samples home you can do your own experiments with what ever concoctions/pens ect are likely to be getting on your own work tops Grin

Long winded - but interesting.

Thanks @Laiste. Food for thought. 🙂

I have seen Caldeira Zenith worktops from doing some Googling on here this evening and am quite taken with that now. 😆

Too much choice!

Laiste · 16/05/2021 09:35

Oooooh i know, they had a massive panel of that on the view at the showroom i went to the other week and it.was.gorgeous!

The whole time i was there, talking about how i wanted a nice pale carerra or a calacatta, i kept standing by the Zenith and touching it saying ''but this ... this is lovely! '' Grin

Click on the pic to see the whole panel.

Pics online don't do it justice. It's amazing in real life. Copper/bronze/gold/grey/black all swirling. I think it's thinner than the quartz though, and lends itself to a more modern/industrial look than our house would cope with.

It is lovely. 🙂

Orangeinmybluelightcup · 16/05/2021 18:11

@Laiste did you say you'd made some of those visualisations yourself? How?! I am really struggling to decide things here!

Laiste · 16/05/2021 20:01

@Orangeinmybluelightcup google DIY kitchens free kitchen online planner. Thats where my images are from.

I'd do a link but it skips the home page and takes me straight to my design and that's no help to you! Grin

Be prepared to have your room measurements and ceiling height. Be prepared to swear a bit and give up 2/3 hours of your life but in the end you get a really good visual of it. You can switch back and forth from 3D to plan to keep changing units or colours ect.

Lets have a look when you do one? :)

This is why we have opted for white, no colour decisions! Still got decisions on flooring, worktops, paint, splashbacks to sort though.

Cindy87 · 16/05/2021 20:25

Yep, white lino floor - worst decision. Haven't got round to replacing it yet and it looks awful.

Laiste · 17/05/2021 10:07

@EversoDelighted lol. Sound thinking.
I'm pretty much certain of white walls and wood floor now. The cabinets will determine the worktop colour and the tile colour (for behind hob).

Speaking of which .... tile samples have just arrived! They're massive ShockGrin I don't think i read the sizes properly and was imagining them being like a bathroom tile size. Palm of hand? Nope ....

I like the blue star on white i think. The navy door sample is out for delivery today. I'll check the blues together later and post a pic.

If i do end up going for these white tiles i could stick some felt feet on the bottom of the blue sample and use it as a hot pot stand in the kitchen it's so big!

EversoDelighted · 17/05/2021 10:13

Ooh, they're nice, where are they from?

Roomba · 17/05/2021 10:18

The white kitchen floor in my old rented flat was a nightmare. Looked filthy whatever I did and however often I did it! Then I bought a house with shiny black kitchen floor tiles - even worse! Showed every mark and water drop, looked grubby constantly. I'd aim for anything that has a grime concealing pattern Grin.

Those star tiles look fabulous though, I really like those.

EversoDelighted · 17/05/2021 10:19

I have found some flooring in those colours that I'm very taken with, we have ordered a navy blue range cooker, to go with our white units and probable mixture of oak and speckly white quartz worktops.

If you mop regularly and aren’t ‘shoes in the house’ people then it should be ok. Just make sure you choose the right grout

ArchbishopOfBanterbury · 17/05/2021 13:17

How about a slate grey?
