Which is your favourite fruit pie?

Fruit pie has been requested for lunch tomorrow. My favourite (and the only one I know how to make) is apple but, out of principle, I'm never making DH another apple pie.

What's your favourite fruit pie?

Apple. Plain and simple.

CassandraCross · 30/04/2021 13:56

Rhubarb
Gooseberry
Apple & Blackberry

longtompot · 30/04/2021 13:59

DH thinks a pie should be a pastry base, with the fruit in it and then a mixture of milk/cream/eggs/cornflour poured over it. You what now? How is that even a pie??

I suddenly got this skit in my head which I thought you might appreciate Grin

Shock

I can't even picture that.

AdditionalCharacter · 30/04/2021 14:07

Rhubarb and ginger, definitely.

Hoppinggreen · 30/04/2021 14:09

Not a huge pie fan but I love Strawberry crumble

Hoppinggreen · 30/04/2021 14:09

@RebelByLight

Grin I do make it for the Dc and me, just when DH isn't around. Unfortunately that means I haven't had any pie for over a year Shock

I think pie should be a pie or a crumble. DH thinks a pie should be a pastry base, with the fruit in it and then a mixture of milk/cream/eggs/cornflour poured over it.

Cherry!

newnortherner111 · 30/04/2021 14:27

Apple and blackberry if you can get decent blackberries at this time of year. Not sure you can and other than bananas and apples, I try to have homegrown fruit which means seasonality.

NatMoz · 30/04/2021 14:31

@mogloveseggs

Whinberry
This but it is very seasonal (two weeks in July/Aug and found on the Moors) I think they are also called bilberries.
crazylikechocolate · 30/04/2021 14:47

Apple
Rhubarb
Gooseberry
Apricot
Plum
All as great as each other
I like the sound of peach never tried it though

SocraticJunkieWannabe · 30/04/2021 14:50

Always apple. Doesn't really help you, sorry.

burblish · 30/04/2021 14:52

Fully encased pastry: cherry
Tart: lemon
Crumble: rhubarb or plum

Definitive. (Apple is equally beautiful in all three, though!)

Maggiesfarm · 30/04/2021 14:52

I like all the suggestions here, I love fruit pies of all descriptions. My pastry used to be lovely but I don't make it now.

JovialNickname · 30/04/2021 18:34

What a lovely idea for a thread. I did a plum pie once, completely by accident because the wrong thing was picked up at the shops, and that was surprisingly nice. I think the secret is to add a little spice for flavour, cinnamon or nutmeg whichever works

DontGoIntoTheLongGrass · 30/04/2021 18:36

Apple
Bilberry
