Which is your favourite fruit pie?

Fruit pie has been requested for lunch tomorrow. My favourite (and the only one I know how to make) is apple but, out of principle, I'm never making DH another apple pie.

What's your favourite fruit pie?

Apricot
If you make cherry pie, which is also great, please do not ruin it by adding anything almondy.

Peach

What did your dh do? 😃

McDonald’s Apple. Controversial I know but I stand by my word.

PanamaPattie · 29/04/2021 21:26

Apricot. Harvest Fruit Pies that were around in my childhood were the best pies ever. Fact.

VenusClapTrap · 29/04/2021 21:29

Gooseberry.

RebelByLight · 29/04/2021 21:34

Long story short, he criticised the way I cut the apples Hmm DH won't eat a crumble as it's too unhealthy Hmm Hmm although I do love an apricot crumble when it's in season!

Gooseberries....haven't seen them in years!
How long can you keep rhubarb frozen? We might have some which is probably 2 years old, would that still be edible?
I think my DC would prefer blueberry. Might try that.

Cherry. Please do let us know why you'll never make your dh an apple pie again!

PeanutbutterPickle · 29/04/2021 21:43

Cherry - with apple and blackberry a close second

takemetomiami · 29/04/2021 21:45

Apple and raspberry (but I prefer crumble to pie)

Kiki275 · 29/04/2021 21:45

Damsons! But then they're good for a crumble.
Also love apple, blackberry & apple, rhubarb, morello cherry... anything a bit tart really x

Clevs · 29/04/2021 21:47

Cherry

bitheby · 29/04/2021 21:47

Apple and blackberry
Rhubarb

Yum yum. I want pie.

YoComoManzanas · 29/04/2021 21:48
  1. Cherry
  2. Blueberry
  3. Apple and blackberry (better as crumble).

Leave the stones in the cherries. That'll learn him. Wink
Aren't crumble and pastry pretty much the same ingredients? Also you can put oats and seeds in crumble to make it healthier.
Your husband is just very wrong.

OverByYer · 29/04/2021 21:48

Cherry

SecondGentleman · 29/04/2021 21:49

Plum.

Spied · 29/04/2021 21:52

I forgot about plum- but yes- plum!
No2- Blackberry and apple.
No3- Cherry.

I love blueberry muffins but really don't think they suit a pie.

Darklane · 29/04/2021 22:10

Blackcurrant

mogloveseggs · 29/04/2021 22:15

Whinberry

TheYearOfSmallThings · 29/04/2021 22:16

What even is a whinberry?!

TheYearOfSmallThings · 29/04/2021 22:20

Oh it's a fraochán.

Hard to find enough to make a pie!

EventuallyDistracted · 29/04/2021 22:21

Apple, nothing else comes close. No cinnamon.

Heronatemygoldfish · 29/04/2021 22:27

Waitrose and Sainsbury's will have fresh gooseberries later in the year when they are in season, OP. They freeze so well.
I love them and bought a gooseberry bush last year but it's another year off decently cropping. Meanwhile, rhubarb and ginger crumble... cos no other bugger in the house will eat it so it's mine, all mine...

RumJerrySailorRum · 29/04/2021 22:52
  1. Bilberry
  2. Rhubarb (better as a crumble)
  3. Apple (grated if I can be arsed)
noblegreenk · 29/04/2021 23:04

Cherry! I still dream about the cherry pie my Mum used to make when I was a kid. My Dad wasn't very nice back then, so once a month, when dad was working away, she'd make one and we'd eat it all with custard instead of dinner. Dad never ever knew about it and it was our little secret thing.
