Post-lockdown impulse purchases are definitely a thing.

Anyone else? You know where you're so excited to be OUT and actually buying stuff that you make some questionable choices?

Yesterday I went out to a little outdoor market thing. The very first stall in the row had 'alternative' scented candles with flavours like gun smoke and car tyres. I bought myself a Wet Grass, which smelled great at the time (in my excitement) but now I just can't work out how I feel about it. It was not cheap. Then I bought a foot high remote control Dalek, which remains a good decision.

Who else has found themselves getting carried away?

LOL at the remote control Dalek purchase!
I'm currently browsing ebay for long tops to hide my lockdown midriff whilst thinking "but I could "just" GO TO ALL THE CHARITY SHOPS TOMORROW MWAHAHAHAHA".

In other news, I did an online food shop last week & thought of your username (Asda, so no cabbage vans).

Oh mate, it’s my birthday and restrictions have eased. It’s not so much buying random stuff, but spending sooo much on eating out/drinks/travelling/Uber etc. Any money I saved over the past year on going out is definitely moot now

minniemomo · 25/04/2021 18:34

Not shops but eaten out 3 days running!

minniemomo · 25/04/2021 18:35

(Weather helps, we wouldn't have bothered even with indoor places open if it were raining!)

Love2cycle · 25/04/2021 18:36

Omg yes!! I bought a gravy boat at a car boot sale this morning!!! Never used one in my life and never intended to until this morning. Also way too many cuddly toys for my toddler.

bellsbuss · 25/04/2021 18:46

I've eaten out twice with friends , once with OH and once as a family. Oh and went a bit mad with buying clothes. I've been told by OH to calm down a bit.

weareoutoutwellalmost · 25/04/2021 18:47

I want one of those Darleks & ooooh yes. I went shopping, proper shopping yesterday. Clothes, and more clothes and some cute whisky glasses....I don't drink whisky ever...

I've eaten out loads, I'm supporting the local economy 😇😇

SisterAgatha · 25/04/2021 18:48

Yeah. I have to have a word with myself. I’ve bought so many jeans of all things Confused

TooManyAnimals94 · 25/04/2021 18:49

Got you all beat. Went and bought a pony. No regrets 😁 definitely on the lookout for a remote control dalek though...

fairydustandpixies · 25/04/2021 18:51

I've thrown my life savings at crafting bits and bobs - of course my idea of making my own Christmas cards will fly out of the window and come 24th December I will be hurtling to a shop to buy a box of cards whilst I promise myself that I WILL make cards in time for the next Christmas...

VaggieMight · 25/04/2021 18:52

I walked around with some boxes of tourist fudge I bought today - it was completely overpriced. I bought it suspecting it was out of date, it wasn't.

fairydustandpixies · 25/04/2021 18:53

A pony and a dalek...😂😂😂

BreakfastOfWaffles · 25/04/2021 18:55

My post-lockdown impulse purchases are nothing compared with my during-lockdown wishful thinking purchases 😂

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 25/04/2021 18:58

Where can I buy a foot tall Dark?

8Track · 25/04/2021 19:00

Yep, new work backpack as I've changed companies in lockdown so have thought FAR too hard about what I'd like my first impression to be. In my defence, at least I got a bag that looked comfortable....!

PS Wet Grass sounds better than the Race Fuel one we bought. Turns out, if you leave it uncovered overnight the smell.permeats your entire downstairs, making you rush around at early o clock half asleep checking where the crashed-vehicle-about-to-explode is. Would not recommend!

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 25/04/2021 20:11

Pony wins Grin What's its name? If you haven't named it, can I be the first to vote for Dalek?

Dalek was second hand I'm afraid and potentially quite valuable, but 9yo has fallen in love with him (or her) so looks like I'm going to be dusting it for the next five years. It can say many things, but it only rolls in circles now.

I really wish I could post smells on here, because I'd love some other opinions on the Wet Grass.

In Wales so a few more days to go till I can eat out, but I am READY. Been feeding part of every dinner to the dog, so I have about 3-4lb 'in the bank' as it were.

Awww Grin As it happens, I also got screwed over for a red cabbage today at the farmers market. £3.62!!! Determined to get my money's worth, so have braised half and pickled the rest.

The economy needs it!

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 25/04/2021 20:19

@8Track race fuel! Shock

It is funny, isn't it, how scented candles smell amazing in the shop/stall and then unveil their true selves when you get them home.

meditrina · 25/04/2021 20:22

I love the idea of a gun smoke scented candle.

Wonder if they can also do aviation fuel

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 25/04/2021 20:23

Dalek, with dog for scale.

I agree on the spending obscene amounts on socialising now.

Last night I went out for a bang average dinner which cost £50 and I spent the whole night absolutely freezing. I really begrudge spending £25 on a bottle of Prosecco at the pub when we’ve spent the last year drinking £7 bottles at home.

CommanderBurnham · 25/04/2021 20:37

@JesusInTheCabbageVan

I'd love a just blown out match scent but then realised I just need to keep blowing out the candle!

I've bought 5 pairs of sunglasses, 2 pairs of slippers and a saucepan.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 25/04/2021 20:46

@meditrina I was quite excited to find out what it smells like - awful, is the answer.

They also had a baby medicine one, which I didn't smell. Burnt match would be good. Or bacon sandwich.
