If you had to live in another country where would you choose?

Inspired by the other thread discussing Canada....

If you had to live in a different country where would you choose?

We have eyed up Canada, but really I struggle with the grey depressing weather here, so if I was pushed I would probably go for somewhere in Europe like France or Italy.

I would be open to Australia but I know my DH wouldn't be keen, and I would worry about how they will fare in the future with climate change.

I also love NZ but it’s just a bit too far to move to permanently.

Same. As NZ is too far, probably Portugal for me.

The UK was my ‘other country’ for many years. I’m now living in Ireland, but will almost certainly live elsewhere again. I’m looking at an exchange that would take me to Iceland for a year.

whippitwoowoo · 25/04/2021 18:42

without a doubt, Costa Rica

JaninaDuszejko · 25/04/2021 18:43

How long are we talking? For a year pretty much anywhere as long as women has reasonable rights. For life it would have to be a northern European country with liberal politics so Norway, Denmark or Sweden.

Spain. I love everything about it. My SIL is Spanish and says how difficult life is out there though.

I can testify that the weather in Canada isn't grey and depressing. It's sunshine and blue skies most of the time. Yes, it's cold, but not often rainy or grey. Depends which coast though - Vancouver can be rainy, the rest of Canada isn't.

Australia, New Zealand, Canada if still of working age.

I fancy retiring or getting a second home in the Canaries or the Caribbean.
