One of the things I dislike about getting older is...

My increasing awareness of my shins. As in knowing that if I bump them, there'll be consequences

What's yours?

My neck.
Peri menopause.

Devlesko · 25/04/2021 17:07

@WorraLiberty

Bastard chin hair

I'm always amazed how I can see a tiny innocent looking hair, pluck it and 6 feet of it comes out from underneath my skin. Then by the next morning it's back in its full glory Confused

Yes, why do they return so quickly, sometimes with two from the same root, or place. I've just got some of those razor things, like plastic, going to try them, but not holding my breath. I need some work, perhaps I should just let them grow. Grin Could earn a fortune.
blackpuddinbertha · 25/04/2021 17:08

I swear I never used to fart so much when I was younger.

Oversize · 25/04/2021 17:08

19thnamechange I was like that till I got a dog 3 years ago. Now I rarely walk less than 12000 steps a day according to my fitbit. Usually it's nearer 15000 with at least 22000 on 1 day a week. I can mostly eat what I like.
I'm on progesterone only (or oestrogen only - I forget which) HRT having had a hysterectomy though.

Black - Yes!!!! The farting ! OMG! How are we supposed to get on top of that??

Foghead · 25/04/2021 17:10

Foggy brain (my username is my real life) and constant tiredness.
I was gaining a bit too much weight and dh was diagnosed as diabetic so we both gave up sugar. I swear those aches from that ‘old woman joints’ where you get up, have reduced drastically.
Growing old is rubbish.

PandemicPalava · 25/04/2021 17:10

@Oversize mine too! Who knew?!

elephantoverthehill · 25/04/2021 17:11

Having to use the hand rail to go up and down stairs.

Devlesko · 25/04/2021 17:12

Night time toilet visits. I know you can do things to avoid this, but for me it would be too bloody boring. Sips of water all night, is not for me.
A cup of tea before bed or I can't sleep.
Guarantee i'll be up at sometime.

FictionalCharacter · 25/04/2021 17:12

Not being attractive any more.

emmetgirl · 25/04/2021 17:13

CHIN HAIR!!
Aches and pains
Stiff joints
Non existent eyebrows

On the plus side car insurance is really cheap now! 😂

Oversize · 25/04/2021 17:14

I started yoga when I was 50. Best thing ever. I love how strong my legs are now. And my core. I never do that oof thing anymore but I don't have the self discipline to do online yoga so my upper body strength has gone to shit during lockdown

cheapskatemum · 25/04/2021 17:14

The tiredness. I've started a new job and am very conscious of having to pace myself.

Nitgel · 25/04/2021 17:16

Am 51 but leg pains after walking and not being able to bend down without knees hurting like mad

cheapskatemum · 25/04/2021 17:16

Oh gosh and the toilet visits, yes! Night time and daytime.

ValancyRedfern · 25/04/2021 17:17

The realisation I won't ever be free of depression and anxiety.

Is going to the toilet in the night an age thing? I've always had to go.

Oversize · 25/04/2021 17:18

Yes Cheapskate! I used to be able to do 12 hour thinky work days with no problem. Now I schedule brainwork for before 2pm and routine tasks for after that because I know I can't focus after 2pm.

Oversize · 25/04/2021 17:19

I've always got up for a wee at least once. I can't ever remember not doing that.

Hellocatshome · 25/04/2021 17:22

Feeling a bit sick after going on the waltzer, I used to be able to go on it 10 times in a row. Now I go on once and have to have a little sit down.

MrsHandles · 25/04/2021 17:23

My skin. I still have acne at 35 and it looks like it’s going nowhere despite seeing a dermatologist. I really thought it would have gone by now...Sad with every passing year, it’s still there.

Lovelovelove21 · 25/04/2021 17:25

That more people from your immediate family start to pass away- mum, dad, Nan, aunts.
You start becoming the older generation.
I miss connections to my past immensely.

IsThePopeCatholic · 25/04/2021 17:26

Insomnia
Loose skin on legs
Dry fanny

Lifeisnotadressrehearsal7 · 25/04/2021 17:29

Another vote for chin hair!
Thinning eyebrows
Thinning hair generally
Aches & pains
I am already more than halfway through my time on this planet
Eyesight has got worse
Harder to shift excess weight

Lifeisnotadressrehearsal7 · 25/04/2021 17:29

Lack of sex life due to pain 😢

Tupperwarelid · 25/04/2021 17:34

Having no idea what is popular in music, films etc anymore. I watched the Oscar nominations and had no idea who people were. Same with social media, according to my sons only old people use Facebook but I don't know how TikTok or Snapchat work. I really feel like I'm losing touch with the real world!
