I've recently found an amazing chocolate peanut butter cake by Nigella! I want to find some more interesting recipes to try not just the standard ones.

Zebra cake. I’ll be making one tomorrow, as requested by the birthday girl, as she loved it so much last year.

Just came on to recommend the chocolate peanut one! It's amazing isn't it, totally yummo!

This is my other favourite cake and it's a joy to make.

Beetle76 · 25/04/2021 12:32

I came on to add the Ultimate Chocolate Cake but @LumpySpacedPrincess beat me to it. It’s really the nicest chocolate cake ever.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 25/04/2021 12:35

Does it taste chocolatey? I'm often disappointed that some chocolate cakes lack flavour and are just sweet.

Fiercestcalm · 25/04/2021 12:35

The best fudgey chocolate cake ever, so rich that I do not bother to ice it

Made two today!

iklboo · 25/04/2021 12:38

I detest chocolate cake

TheMagicFarawaySea · 25/04/2021 12:41

This is my go to cake, I love it. And it's gluten free! www.theguardian.com/food/2020/sep/28/claudia-rodens-orange-and-almond-cake

GoryGilmore · 25/04/2021 12:41

It’s not a fancy cake but Mary Berry’s lemon yoghurt cake always goes down well in our house.

MinnieMountain · 25/04/2021 12:42

Someone on MN told me about this one: aforkfulofspaghetti.blogspot.com/2010/02/slice-of-action-torta-caprese.html?m=1
It’s an almond and dark chocolate torte.

Taytotots · 25/04/2021 12:44

Have you tried this one. I'm sure she used to describe it as moist though and now it says it is damp Grin

This chocolate cake (it even comes out well when DS helps)

That ultimate chocolate cake is amazing. Very fudgey, chocolatey and rich. I usually substitute the buttermilk for yoghurt because buttermilk impossible to get hold off and it works well.

3beesinmybonnet · 25/04/2021 13:18

@PickleSarnie
Morrisons sell buttermilk. I think it's a Polish brand in a white plastic bottle. My husband uses it when making scones and they're delicious.

PinkTonic · 25/04/2021 13:23

Delia’s preserved ginger cake with lemon icing is a favourite here

3beesinmybonnet · 25/04/2021 13:24

Just found some in the fridge

@LumpySpacedPrincess I'm always put off by the amount of sugar in that recipe but I'm going to give it a go!

@Taytotots funnily enough, I'm going to make the Jamie Oliver version of Guinness cake today. I hope it's as good.

Definitely the Ultimate chocolate cake. It is very rich and chocolatey (it has 200g of melted dark chocolate in the sponge). It's a favourite in my house.

I always get my buttermilk in Waitrose-it comes in a pot like cream.

Tartyflette · 25/04/2021 15:34

If you like marmalade (and i certainly do) this is a lovely, totally easy, moist and delicious loaf cake.
You could drizzle some orange flavoured glacé icing on it to gussy it up if it's for guests.
