I've recently found an amazing chocolate peanut butter cake by Nigella! I want to find some more interesting recipes to try not just the standard ones.

Raspberry Ripple cake from the Pink Whisk blog is delicious.

I also like Nigella's Easy Almond cake with the sunken middle filled with raspberries.

Tartyflette · 25/04/2021 15:37

To add to the above, i use the all-in-one method and don't bother creaming the fat and sugar, just bung it all in the processor or food mixer.

Chocolate Guinness cake is amazing. You can’t always buy a single Guinness tho and I don’t want a four pack. So I sub it with a dark Porter or ale from a bottle. Works well

I made this one, very moist but virtually a heart attack on a plate

Its made with one box of chocolate cake mix, one box of brownie mix, a cup of oil, 4 eggs and 1.25 cups of water

SwanShaped · 25/04/2021 15:40

Also, I think you can make buttermilk by adding vinegar to normal milk and leaving it to curdle.

Chocolate Guinness is delicious.

Mary Berry has an excellent walnut cake with frosting but it's only in her book not online.

I don’t add as much sugar and replace some of the self raising with wholemeal to try make it a little bit healthier.

Sawyersfishbiscuits · 25/04/2021 16:02

I haven't read the whole thread but just about to if I get a chance.

But I've made the Guinness & Chocolate cake several times and it's always a crowd pleaser!

[quote Taytotots]Have you tried this one. I'm sure she used to describe it as moist though and now it says it is damp Grin

Candycane57 · 25/04/2021 18:01

www.nigella.com/recipes/apple-and-almond-cake Nigella's apple almond cake! Gorgeous with some christmassy spices too. Lovely but not too sweet.

MolotovMocktail · 25/04/2021 18:44

I second Nigella’s clementine cake, it’s divine. I like to add a splash of orange blossom water too.

losenotloose · 25/04/2021 19:26

@ChekhovsWorkshoppedShooter yes, that's the one. It's amazing! You need to whisk the frosting for as long as she says, that's what makes it so light and airy.
