If you live at the seaside, do you go to the beach often..?

Or is it something after a while you take for granted?

We live about 30 minutes away and probably go once a month / every 3 weeks or so.

insancerre · 24/04/2021 12:49

No, it’s too windy and sandy

Justmuddlingalong · 24/04/2021 12:50

I'm a 5 minute walk, door to sand. I walked along the prom on Tuesday but haven't been on the beach for a couple of weeks. I grew up in a city centre and vowed I'd never take living on the coast for granted, but yes, I do.

Woeismethischristmas · 24/04/2021 12:50

Not at the beach but we go down to the river every day and weekly to the loch when it’s warm enough.

millenialblush · 24/04/2021 12:51

I live a 15 min walk from the beach and have done for 10 years. I dont think I've ever taken it for granted and go there in both winter and summer. Last year it was so hot we went almost every weekend. Some weeks I go running on the seafront, sometimes I pop up there and eat my lunch and stare out to sea. My kids love it too.

linerforlife · 24/04/2021 12:51

I live about 10 mins away and we go at least once a week. Probably not as you're imagining though... it's not a day out! Rather we go to walk the dog, grab and coffee to walk with or stop for a bacon sandwich etc, while looking at the nice views!

HollysBush · 24/04/2021 12:52

Walk dog there at least twice a week. When children were small, probably once a month in summer for fun.

Sparklingbrook · 24/04/2021 12:52

I don't but the ILs did and that's what they said (beach about 10 minute's drive) and above all too peopley a lot of the time.
Unmute · 24/04/2021 12:54

We used to live 15 mins walk from the beach and I took the dog there every morning (so she could chase the seagulls and eat the rubbish people had left behind) but I think I went to actually sit on the sand or swim maybe twice in 18 months.

trevthecat · 24/04/2021 12:56

I live less than 300 meters from the beach. We probably go weekly for a walk we don't spend the day there often though

BigButtons · 24/04/2021 12:57

It depends on he wether and how crowded it is. I never take it for granted though and feel lucky that I have that option when others don’t.

BigButtons · 24/04/2021 12:58

Sorry-I can spell but can’t type😂

Sparklingbrook · 24/04/2021 12:58

Are you thinking of moving to the coast @LieLikeALoungeroomLizard?

foxandmoon · 24/04/2021 13:01

I live two miles from the beach in a tourist town. I tend to go to the beach in spring, autumn and winter but avoid it like the plague in the summer. It's too busy and the road into the town gets gridlocked. Besides going to the seaside in other seasons is really underrated, I love an autumn time beach walk.

onthinice · 24/04/2021 13:01

I don't go as often as I should, but that's because my children aren't really massive fans of the beach so it's hard to convince them. We probably go to the beach for a proper beach day once or twice a year, but go to the seafront for walks either on the sand or on the path once or twice a month. I go there more often on my own for a drive or a run along the seafront.

Veronika13 · 24/04/2021 13:02

I do, every day. Sunrise beach runs, coffee catch ups with a friend, beach picnics, volleyball. Read, nap - I literally go there at least once a day.
Although we have a lot of beaches in my city so I don't go to the same one.
I really love it

EdgeOfFortyNine · 24/04/2021 13:04

Once a day, every day, rain or shine. Sometimes twice a day - but it’s because we have a dog.
I never take it for granted, love living at the coast, and tell the dog every day just how lucky he is.

DuesToTheDirt · 24/04/2021 13:05

10 min drive or 40 min walk to the beach. I rarely go, I'm not a big beach fan. If I do go I'd much rather walk along the beach than sit on the sand or swim.

OohKittens · 24/04/2021 13:06

We live in pembrokeshire in the summer we go every night after school and on weekends.

transformandriseup · 24/04/2021 13:06

There are several beaches close to me just out of walking distance but the thought of trying to park in tourist season and not get blown about by the wind spoils it for me. I love to see the sea/beach though when driving past.

GillBiggeloesHair · 24/04/2021 13:09

5 minutes in the car, taken for granted.

LieLikeALoungeroomLizard · 24/04/2021 13:10

Yes I am, I'm trying to think ehenwoulcbe the best time to make the move as one child year 9 and one year 2

Oldest child is looking likely to be going to uni, so I'm wondering when would be the best time to make the move

And a few people said, it won't be as special when you live there and you'll get bored of it etc

monstermissy · 24/04/2021 13:10

Walk down every couple of weeks (15 mins) for wander and coffee etc actually sitting on the beach for the day is very rare as it's quite touristy in summer. We often go down about 6pm in summer and swim in the sea... tourists are packing up after a day so it's quieter 🙌

SwimBaby · 24/04/2021 13:12

I live half an hour drive away and go twice a month. Before COVID I only went about once a month.

Insert1x20p · 24/04/2021 13:12

I go to the beach probably once a month in the summer. I go sea kayaking every week though, so I do "use" the sea Grin
