Inspired by another thread by HensTeeth44, here is a thread for lovers of fan fiction either writer or just an avid reader.

I do have some unfinished Harry Potter fan fic to share but I'm at working at the moment.

Dont be afraid to share your favourites.

I've got an evening of writing ahead of me. I've decided that at some point in the upcoming chapters of my extended Queens Gambit continuation, Beth and Benny are going to have a stand-up shag in a bathroom stall, then Benny will say something utterly cloddish and Beth will stamp hard on his foot. Both because it's a reasonable development for both their characters, and because it'll amuse the hell out of me.

Icantreachthepretzels · 13/05/2021 17:35

Remus is going to be in no mood to wank, damply or other wise, for a good while yet.

maybe I should be writing that in pig Latin... emusray isay otnay oingay otay ebay (ha!) inay onay oodmay otay ankway, amplyday oray otheray iseway orfay oodgay hileway etyay.

MrsGulDukat · 13/05/2021 17:37

So, is shaving a man's face cringing or way of heading down a romantic path?

Answers on a postcard.

Usually shaving is a power play - by the person being shaved. It shows utter dominance over the person that is shaving them - because they are literally holding a razor to their throat, could kill them with one quick movement ... and still they don't. Because they are so broken down by the other person.

Like when Ramsay Bolton got Reek to shave him and chose that moment to tell him Robb Stark was dead... and Reek did nothing.

You could have Lucius get Cassie to do it as a kind of test, to see if he's broken her will (with an enchanted razor so if she tries to kill him it won't work) but then it could go all sexy instead... but I think it might be one of those things that are better suited to T.V than writing.

MrsGulDukat · 13/05/2021 17:45

Good point.

I'm trying to get in some closeness but not sexual more romantic.

MrsGulDukat · 13/05/2021 17:47

But then, Cassie would have no reason to harm Lucius. He hasnt mistreated her, much the opposite. He even expressed guilt at being there when Sirius died.

Icantreachthepretzels · 13/05/2021 18:09

Well - no reason other than she's married to him against her will. And smothering him with a pillow and fleeing for the hills is her best bet of getting away from her arranged marriage.

MrsGulDukat · 13/05/2021 18:16

Yes, but Cassie knows she could play her situation to her advantage.

She's behind enemy lines as it were. She cant go near anyone in the order but she can discreetly feed them information on the sly.

I've just written Umbridge's first scene - I need to take a shower and then punch something.

MrsGulDukat · 13/05/2021 19:03

She does invoke a certain rage, doesnt she?

OP posts:
Icantreachthepretzels · 13/05/2021 19:11

I know that's the point of her - and she's so brilliantly done by JKR - but god she is awful. I think it's because there's a realness to her - the jobsworth who enjoys using the rules to bully people but breaks them herself and feels justified in doing it.

You're unlikely to ever meet a Voldemort, or a Bellatrix Lestrange ... but Umbridges are everywhere. And unlike her, they don't always get their comeuppance.

MrsGulDukat · 13/05/2021 19:14

Villians like Umbridge are normally the most well written.

They believe they are the hero in their story and no one else understands. But, they will always blame others for their own failures.

So I finished Sunday's chapter and then went to post today;s chapter. It was so weird - after writing so much misery - to go back a few pages and see them being happy!

I'm going to try and get a start on Monday's chapter before bed.

BlackLambAndGreyFalcon · 13/05/2021 21:01

Looking forward to reading it later @icantreachthepretzels!

MrsGulDukat · 13/05/2021 21:27

I've made some headway in my Lucius fic. It's just fuller shit but it's something.

OP posts:
MrsGulDukat · 13/05/2021 22:42

What did Lucius do for a living?

I thought he worked at the ministry but it's never said what he actually did.

OP posts:
Icantreachthepretzels · 13/05/2021 22:47

He was just fuck off rich. He didn't do anything - like an old aristocrat.

MrsGulDukat · 13/05/2021 22:48

Well the lazy bugger is getting a job. Cassie cant be expected to tolerate him all day.

OP posts:
bunglebee · 13/05/2021 22:49

Yeah, Lucius was clearly sitting on piles of family money. I think he probably "managed the estate", i.e. owned a lot of land and collected a lot of rent. Maybe he also wandered round to correct their morals and child-rearing from time to time, old skill style.

MrsGulDukat · 13/05/2021 22:49

The question is, what department do I put the lazy shite in.

OP posts:
bunglebee · 13/05/2021 22:49

*old skool. Fuck off autocorrect. I know exactly what I mean.

bunglebee · 13/05/2021 22:50

Is there a department of Magical Business Support? Or Land Management? He'd be a shoo-in for that.

MrsGulDukat · 13/05/2021 22:54

@bunglebee

You couldn't be more right if you tried.

OP posts:
bunglebee · 13/05/2021 22:55

Basically I reckon the Ministry has a department for everything the Other Ministry has a department for, they just do it with magic instead of paperwork. plus the additional poor neglected Muggle Relations one. So just scan the Whitehall roster and stick him in the appropriate equivalent!

MrsGulDukat · 13/05/2021 23:06

I cant decide where to put the fucker.
