My mum reckons most people will be watching BBC. What are you watching? BBC for me and my mum (separate homes)

Oh dear springisspringing you have a made an awful fool of yourself

ProfessorPootle · 17/04/2021 17:36

Sky news, just to be awkward. I hate bbc (ex employee) not that keen on sky either but they weren’t saying much.

ChessieFL · 17/04/2021 17:37

I spotted Sarah Chatto walking back with the family afterwards. I didn’t spot the German relatives though.

Bearnecessity · 17/04/2021 17:37

Sky too...nice and quiet...

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 17/04/2021 17:38

Sky. I was pleasantly surprised at how little talking there was

EsmeShelby · 17/04/2021 17:41

BBC

TheOnlyKoiInAPondOfGoldfish · 17/04/2021 17:43

BBC. Though Huw E was annoying.

I don't know a lot about classical music TBH, but I thought the music was beautiful - must nicer than I expected. He had good taste IMO.

I think that they could be seen walking behind the coffin.
Housewife2010 · 17/04/2021 17:49

The guest list would have been even more tricky if Harry & Meghan hadn't left and the marriages of Andrew, Peter Philips and Lord Snowdon hadn't ended.

diddl · 17/04/2021 18:05

There's a short clip on the DM of W, K & H after the funeral.

It does look a bit as if K is engaging the most with H & W is having a bit of a scarfgate fumble!

@SirSamuelVimes

The people who organised this have done such a good job. To have stripped it back to such a degree but still feel stately is a real achievement.
I agree @SirSamuelVimes

It was done with all due honours etc but also seemed very personal.
I tuned in for the military (kids in Cadets) music / Chapel etc but found it quite moving. The music was good, the chapel looked wonderful, the military were faultless. The poor Queen looked so alone, (like many others have been this year). The RF pitched this well or rather PP pitched it well as he arranged it himself which says a lot about his character. It feels as though it might be symbolic of other deaths for some people, which would not be a bad outcome in a way.

Mammyloveswine · 17/04/2021 18:17

@DeciduousPerennial yes but viscount Severn and lady Louise Windsor are the queen and Prince Phillips grandchildren..so I think was just a mistake.

The great-grandchildren would be Peter Phillips children (I think older than George & co) and Zara's, plus Williams 3, Archie and then little August.

Mammyloveswine · 17/04/2021 18:17

On another note, Sophie Wessex is looking GREAT these days!

SunshineCake · 17/04/2021 18:27

Flipped between both then stayed on ITV as I just knew Huw would talk at wrong time. I was impressed ITV just shut up and let us listen to the music and watch.

EventuallyDistracted · 17/04/2021 18:36

BBC, never occurred to me to try the others TBH.

Cissyandflora · 17/04/2021 18:44

@BilboBercow

What kind of weirdo critiques someone's FUNERAL? it's not been put on for our entertainment.
Exactly - and she said she found almost every aspect amusing. And something about preferring orphans.

Anyhoo, I’m not particularly a royalist but I thought it was absolutely beautiful and very poignant to think that the Duke himself had planned a large part of it himself. He seemed like a very special man.

TeacupDrama · 17/04/2021 18:45

@springisspringing2

you said "droll" which means amusing or funny
I think you may have meant something else or you thought droll meant something else but if you knew droll meant funny you obviously put peoples backs up deliberately
if you didn't know it meant funny you made a poor choice of word but you can't expect other peope to know you didn't mean it people will think you chose that word

They’d just have taken the places of the German contingent I expect.
fluffi · 17/04/2021 19:06

BBC.

It was a diginified and touching farewell for the Duke. I feel awful for Prince Charles, Princess Anne and especially the Queen. She's looking frail. I hope she's given time, space and support during this difficult time, I can't imagine how diffiult it is to lose your husband and companion of 73 years.

DMCWelshcakes · 17/04/2021 19:23

I was driving at the time so listened to it on BBC R4. Will watch it on iplayer later.

I can't imagine watching a national event/celebration/crisis on any other channel!

Yes she is and she has been amazing and so caring throughout
SirSamuelVimes · 17/04/2021 19:54

I like Sophie & Edward. Wish we'd seen more of them really; they seem like pretty decent, normal (ish) people. William looks very much like Edward these days, since he's lost his hair.

I agree with those who said Charles looked devastated. He didn't have the same post funeral relief look (well named, pp!) as the others. Just looked a bit lost.

2Rebecca · 17/04/2021 19:58

I was impressed with the music he'd commissioned. Loved the Psalm 104. I love high C of E services. Shame I'm an atheist. Love a good organ as well. Isn't it nearly time for Welby to go? I won't miss him. We missed the coffin lowering first time. Too busy focussing on the piper and before that wondering who the guy reading out the titles was (he's a head garter man). My husband said "oh the coffin's gone" and we then had to rewind it and wondered how we'd missed it. I knew it was going in to the vault but presumed there would be another procession down some steps at the end.

diddl · 17/04/2021 19:58

Wonder who organised the seating in the chpel?

I notice that Andrew was next to HMQ.
