My mum reckons most people will be watching BBC. What are you watching? BBC for me and my mum (separate homes)

"Even dd said at the beginning, I wonder what would happen if the trumpeter went mad and started to go all Louis Armstrong... Wouldn't that be so special and sensational.."

It would have been a travesty.

Why did your daughter think it would be special & sensational-what a strange thing to think-to not carry out someones wishes for a funeral.

@Springisspringing2

..

I find it all very droll... Uninspiring..the organ.. Does anyone really like it??

droll you say? no i don't think anyone else finds funerals funny/amusing. What an unpleasant individual you are to find humour in the grief of others.
SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 17/04/2021 16:05

I thought it was beautifully done. The music was lovely.

Someone asked upthread about the pipe music. It was the Flowers of the Forest.

Lovinglavidaloca · 17/04/2021 16:05

It was lovely to see H, K & W together and I agree with another poster in wondering if maybe things aren’t as fraught as the press might lead us to believe.

HouseofWindsor · 17/04/2021 16:05

@Springisspringing2 I think we are finding you very droll and boring too.

itsgettingwierd · 17/04/2021 16:05

Dobby you may have a point - it's the usual way.

The photons of him leaving hospital were a huge clue to his declining health. And it was obviously discussed as the Queen refused hospital at the end. She was dignified by his side to his end.

Abraxan · 17/04/2021 16:05

@Tullyjune

Seems they are not in as much of a feud as the media would have us believe.
Yes, think the tabloids are going to hate that they looked to be just chatting and walking together normally without any fuss.
Springisspringing2 · 17/04/2021 16:05

Twisque, that was very touching to see his hand go to her side! The most touching moment in the whole thing.

I wonder what they will do now..

Interesting... I like the land rover thing but other wise... Very dry and boring ...

Hate the organ.. The repressed singing in those strange strangled accents... The droll awful organ.

Imagine a rousing choir... Opera..
Rusticana.. Orchestra..

Even dd said at the beginning, I wonder what would happen if the trumpeter went mad and started to go all Louis Armstrong... Wouldn't that be so special and sensational..

It was a nice dignified service. Very appropriate for the occasion.

It's not the bloody X Factor Hmm

Is this what you meant @Springisspringing2?

Maybe we should stop responding to the certain person. Or we'll waste what was a beautiful respects thread by quoting judgemental unkind posts about how someone chooses to have their send off.

she has said it several times so she must be sure what it means, the other option is that she is both unpleasant and somewhat dim.
Springisspringing2 · 17/04/2021 16:07

I just think Because orphans are trad.. Do we have to have them??

This strange choir singing jerky unharmonious tunes.

Sorry I thought this was a mumsnet chat, I didn't realise I had actually stumbled into organ fandomConfused

What is wrong with you and your daughter? It’s a funeral. Show some respect, and teach your daughter some too.

You’re probably right

Gladimnotcampinginthisweather · 17/04/2021 16:08

I had to turn over -Alan Titchmarsh wittering on, whereas ITV had the military arriving, with quite a low key commentary. We did watch the actual service on BBC though.
Very moving. Charles looked close to tears.

HouseofWindsor · 17/04/2021 16:08

I'm not sure whether Huw Edwards would hold it together when HM Queen goes !

IEat · 17/04/2021 16:08

Sky. I love Alistair Bruce’s commentary

Springisspringing2 · 17/04/2021 16:08

How bizarre.. Since when is thinking something could be better it's dis respectful!

ScarletZebra · 17/04/2021 16:09

@Springisspringing2

Really disliked the Britton, obviously covid restrictions.

But I just dislike this organ, droll choir, droll vicars reading.

So flat.

Well I don't know what you were watching but the rest of us seem to have found it just right.

You should be ashamed of your daughter and perhaps try to parent her and teach her respect

Seems they are not in as much of a feud as the media would have us believe.
Perhaps walking together after your Grandfather's funeral, knowing that there are cameras on you isn't much of an indication of how things are?

They really weren't.

The harmonies were beautiful and the melodies contained repetition, conjunct movement, sequences as all good melodies do.

But you're saying you think it is funny! Can you not see how that is disrespectful and unpleasant?
