My mum reckons most people will be watching BBC. What are you watching? BBC for me and my mum (separate homes)

I feel sad for the queen and her family as they don’t get to mix after the funeral. No lunch or anything. Must feel so lonely to go straight home to an empty house.

This applies to everyone who has lost someone this past year. I find these rules inhumane, it must make the grief much worse to be so alone.

Livingonadream · 17/04/2021 16:20

BBC

Twisique · 17/04/2021 16:22

Yes, a parallel between and the loss of the Queen and Beatrice and her husband just starting out. Beatrice married there too didn't she, and wore the same tiara as the Queen when she married.

chocatoo · 17/04/2021 16:22

BBC...obviously

Springisspringing2 · 17/04/2021 16:22

Where have I said its funny?

I'm didn't like it and it seemed cold and impersonal, no readings.. No family input with personal memories etc. The only unique part seemed to be the way he arrived.
A funeral is a strange event... It's a time of mourning, saying goodbye and also a celebration of someone's life.. Which is also happy...

Over and out.

There is no need to be incredibly rude.

Allington · 17/04/2021 16:22

I hope there is behind the scenes harmony, but let's face it, they were never going to appear anything else in public at their grandfather's funeral.

CupoTeap · 17/04/2021 16:23

@catherineofarrogance80

I've never noticed before now how frail and hunched the queen looks 😔
I think she looks it more now than ever before.

"I don't like now we do trad funerals in UK."

Then don't have one when it's yours?

RaraRachael · 17/04/2021 16:23

It's quite amusing to read comments about music from someone who clearly knows nothing about it well obviously not religious , funeral appropriate music

As a musician I find it a little frustrating.
BilboBercow · 17/04/2021 16:24

What kind of weirdo critiques someone's FUNERAL? it's not been put on for our entertainment.

Allington · 17/04/2021 16:25

We were allowed to have a post-funeral get together for my father's funeral last August. Limited numbers of course, and seated not milling about. But no doubt there will be some refreshments .

I buried my grandmother at the height of the restrictions, only 11 mourners were allowed. To be totally honest it was somewhat of a relief not to have to go through the performance of tea and sandwiches after and people popping in and out of the house when I just wanted to be left alone to think. I realise I'm probably a total oddball there - I'm not usually antisocial!
Twisique · 17/04/2021 16:26

Was Sarah Chatto there?

kimfox · 17/04/2021 16:26

I started watching BBC on my phone as DH had rugby on, and it's my default,he put the itv coverage on for some reason and as the bbc commentary was annoying me during the run up I just watched itv instead. There wasn't very much commentary, much better.

highlandcoo · 17/04/2021 16:26

@UsedToBeSeventeen

I’ve just realised I haven’t seen the European royals - the ones from Philip’s side that I thought were coming? Were they pointed out?
I think they may have been the two couples who left at the end just before Zara and Mike Tindall? I didn't recognise them which is why I think it may have been them.

The Queen looked a little unsteady and more stooped than I've noticed before Sad.

It was a simple dignified service and I thought the music was beautiful.

snowballer · 17/04/2021 16:27

I thought it was absolutely perfect. Extraordinarily intimate despite it being beamed all over the world. I think they did him absolutely proud. The music was beautiful.

peak2021 · 17/04/2021 16:27

BBC.

Now for some shopping!!

MonkeyTennis I'm a musician too and I think it's the attempted use of musical terminology that I find amusing.
If you're going to comment at least make sure you know what you're talking about!

Was Sarah Chatto there?
I didn’t see her but she was meant to be.

ApplyWithin · 17/04/2021 16:31

I was wondering where Sarah Chatto was as well.
