My nan is shortly turning 80 and I wanted to try and come up with 80 presents for her Confused
Is it possible?!
Presents can be small and cheap to some which can be more expensive...
Can anyone please help with ideas?

Thats horrible. Its somebodys family member and people have a lot of life in them post 80.

Atalune · 17/04/2021 12:53

What have you got?

I think it’s a dreadful idea- if it is just “things” rather than meaningful photos, memories etc. I would be so overwhelmed by the volume and I would hate the waste of it all. And if someone wrapped me up my favourite tin of soup, salad dressing, a pencil from a castle, a candle, socks. I honestly would think they’d lost plot. It’s not special. It’s tacky.

I’d much rather one or two special gifts but each to their own.

GreyhoundG1rl · 17/04/2021 12:59

The presents range in price but are all well thought out
Hardly; when at the start of this thread you hadn't got a clue 😂

I did this but the last 20 were individual quality street wrapped up!

Family tree, printing a certificate of the meaning behind their name and a print of the map where they lived as a child were a few of the free things I included. Oh and a Tena man sample!

tessiegirl · 17/04/2021 13:04

GreyhoundG1rl - err who said I started this thread because I didn't have a clue?! That assumption made me laugh earlier in the thread.

Atalune- seriously I don't care about your insightful input.

So pleased you’re going ahead with the idea @tessiegirl. Remember to post photos. The gift that keeps giving.

Oh course she will. That's the point, isn't?

Atalune · 17/04/2021 13:25

Why won’t you say what you’re getting your nan?

EuroTrashed · 17/04/2021 13:51

80x quarter bottles of Moët. That’s what my mum would have loved. That or Clarins face cream.

This thread is wonderful though- it’s full of the people from the other side of those posts we get on Boxing Day from people furious / terribly upset / offended for life by the thoughtless shitgifts (tissues and tights to commemorate someone’s 9th decade? The insoles might be well receive someone with eg bunion issues I guess but there’s always an £80 pedicure if you’re going down that route)

EuroTrashed · 17/04/2021 13:54

I really want to see photos of nanna seeing the pile of presents, and after opening 40 and then 79 gifts. Imagine the repertoire of sincerity she’s got to come up with? By gift 80 she’s going to be convinced that the final one will have the diamond in it, and will find a pocket size hand cream instead :(

HeronLanyon · 17/04/2021 13:58

I’m waiting for the headlines about odd and localised shortages - or ‘police hunting for unknown woman (going by alias of tessiegirl) buying 80 hand creams suspected of use in drug manufacture as she could give no good reason for the purchase’ type mega headline. Grin
Op I am heating, before you get cross.

HeronLanyon · 17/04/2021 13:59

Not ‘heating’ but ‘jesting’ Grin

BettyCarver · 17/04/2021 14:09

I’m hoping @tessiegirl live streams the present opening as I’m sure we’ll get at least as much pleasure from it as her nan. We’ll need comfort breaks and and refreshments at half time.

HeronLanyon · 17/04/2021 14:27

Will there be an “OPEN THEM, OPEN THEM AND ENJOY THEM” you tube moment?

SwimBaby · 17/04/2021 16:05

I’d like 80 Lindt balls in assorted flavours, a massive bunch of 80 flowers and an £80 voucher for anywhere I shop.

That's the best suggestion yet. Shame op is already trundling her wheelbarrow round the nearest town centre's pound shops.
tessiegirl · 17/04/2021 16:11

Pound shops!!! Grin if you only knew!

Agree, best suggestion yet!
BettyCarver · 17/04/2021 16:51

My expectations are really high now. No tat, nothing from the pound shop.

Bring on the video Grin

HeronLanyon · 17/04/2021 17:23

The you tube edit needs confessional (a la real housewives et al) from nan afterwards about what she really thought, eh ?

Chunkymenrock · 17/04/2021 17:34

Oh god OP, are you really going through with it? How tacky and clueless. A beautiful single present really would have been special. A pile of 80 bits of pointless unwanted clutter?

tessiegirl · 17/04/2021 17:36

Oh god chunkymenrock are you really contributing such a boring post? How annoying and idiotic.

OP posts:
HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 17/04/2021 17:37

OP will you update with the things you gave her?

GreyhoundG1rl · 17/04/2021 17:38

Give us a teeny preview, op?

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 17/04/2021 17:50

Pound shops!!! grin if you only knew!

Ohh, do tell us. Or better, show us.
