Just heard Nikki Grahame has died

What a week 😭tragic

That is heartbreaking news. One of my DD's friends lost her life last year, to anorexia, aged 24 and we are still reeling from that. Poor Nikki.

She was a such a big personality and it's sad she has died so young.
RIP Nikki.

I’m sorry to hear that some poor young woman has succumbed to Anorexia and died, but I haven’t a clue who she is, even after googling?

She was on Big Brother in 2006 and is a good example of how attitudes have changed towards mental health and eating disorders. It was very clear she had issues - she was prone to screaming fits and meltdowns, but everyone and particularly the press thought it was hilarious entertainment. If it happened today, there would be great concern for her mental state and discussion on whether she should be on the show in the first place.

She developed an eating disorder when she was very young, before she was 10, as far as I can recall, and her emotional maturity was that of a much younger woman, more like a child, than an adult. Hence the tantrums and screaming meltdowns.

She should never have gone on the programme, but then again, I think she enjoyed the fame that followed. Poor woman. May she rest in peace.

This also highlights how poorly those with eating disorders are treated, treatment is largely very poor quality and heavily rationed. No one should have to fund raise to pay for life saving medical care, especially when that illness has such a high fatality rate.

I did read that she has had a great deal of NHS treatment, but that they had not been successful (obviously).

This is just so awful. I hardly know what to say.

We have limited information about the death of this poor girl, but I can't help believing that so many young people have been massively affected by how to deal with their mental health issues during the period that laws were brought in by the Government under the guise of Covid. It's horrible that young people see no future for themselves.

Nikki may have been a forerunner for showing that a life in the public spotlight is not necessarily a happy life.

Anyone remember Lena Zavaroni? Many years ago, similar life. Battled endlessly,died anyway. Anorexia is an killer. So sad.

It's very sad. I was shocked to see a picture of her recently - I don't follow sleb gossip etc - and it was clear she was still very ill. Poor woman, such a difficult medical condition, such a tough battle.

And as for the poster who came on here and couldn't even be arsed to spell her name properly - despite it being in the thread title - words fail me.
