The BBC have been overwhelmed with complaints about coverage of Prince Philip

Showing the same thing on 2 channels simultaneously.

Now you just enter your email to complain as they couldn’t cope with the amount of complaints.

I understand the need to show respect and concern, but one channel would have been enough. Even for me.

CatherineMorland · 10/04/2021 12:30

So sad that people couldn’t cope with an afternoon off TV to honour a man who devoted his life to public service.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 10/04/2021 12:30

I’ve complained. One channel would have been fine.

This. It’s not like there isn’t a plethora of other channels they could watch.

How self cantered and selfish of these people. It’s only been a day.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 10/04/2021 12:31

So sad that people pay a license fee to watch channels totally dominated by something they may have no interest in.

WTF is wrong with people?

History in the making and people moaning about missing pointless Confused

bonfireheart · 10/04/2021 12:32

I don't have access to BBC and don't pay a TV licence. But would be annoyed if I paid and was shown the same thing on both channels.

Fyredraca · 10/04/2021 12:32

Is it actually their choice or are they following a protocol?

ShesMadeATwatOfMePam · 10/04/2021 12:32

An incredibly privileged old man who lived a life of luxury in exchange for shaking hands and showing his face at events.

MsPavlichenko · 10/04/2021 12:33

It was all afternoon and night. In Scotland it was on BBC 1, 2, News, Scotland and Alba. The same programme. BBC Four was off air. Ludicrous.

zafferana · 10/04/2021 12:33

I'm not surprised tbh! Prince Philip's death is sad, but it really doesn't have to be covered 24/7 with no room for other news. Fair enough to play regular tributes on one channel, but to have all them playing nothing else is a bit much. RIP Prince Philip! But can we also have some other news please?

PicsInRed · 10/04/2021 12:35

It's probably worse for some as restrictions mean there is less people can entertain themselves with instead. Shops closed. Cafes and restaurants closed. Pub closed. No travel. Crap weather. If you rent, there isn't even a spot of DIY.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 10/04/2021 12:35

I’m really not sure why they suspended BBC 4 either🤔

We don’t live in the 1950’s

If you’d watched some of the coverage yesterday, you’d realise he did a hell of a lot more than that Biscuit

Good. It's fucking embarrassing. We're in the middle of a pandemic.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 10/04/2021 12:38

Yeah, embarrassed was my main emotion.

Ylvamoon · 10/04/2021 12:42

Don't watch it then.

Netflix, Now TV, Prime & Co will always cater for your needs

Endlesscleaning · 10/04/2021 12:44

I’m embarrassed too that people would complain: it was 1 day!

Selfish entitled people with no concept of duty.

Boood · 10/04/2021 12:45

Wtf does the pandemic have to do with anything? Are you annoyed that something else is in the news for the first time in a year?

PicsInRed · 10/04/2021 12:45

Not everyone can afford the paid options, which I'm guessing is part of why some are so frustrated. They've nowhere to go, nothing to do and now nothing to even see on tv or hear on the radio which isn't PP, or sanitised and mourning approved music.
TakeYourFinalPosition · 10/04/2021 12:47

It’s the National Mourning protocol.

Stellaris22 · 10/04/2021 12:47

no concept of duty

Wait, it's my duty to watch coverage about someone I have no connection to? Is it my duty to mourn someone I never knew? Royalist propaganda at its finest.

WonkyCactus · 10/04/2021 12:47

Good. It's absolutely ridiculous to suspend the usual programmes on multiple channels for hours on end. I hope they learn from this for when the Queen dies.

bonfireheart · 10/04/2021 12:49

The pandemic has everything to do with it.

A) they've cancelled all covid press conferences, briefings, communication as we are all supposedly mourning.
B) 120000 people have died, all of whom were loved and pretty sure many of them did amazing things but no back to back coverage
C) lockdown is easing on Monday and we need to be reiterating what that means, how to stay safe, ensure people stay compliant but cos of A that will be hard to do
D) This encourages people to go to windsor/Buckingham Palace during a global pandemic. Pics on the news show people not social distancing, not wearing masks etc.
