Davina MacCall filming but my friend and I were too busy ogling the cameraman, didn't see her at first and knocked her off the path! We only realised who it was when turned to apologise to her. Also Mark Owen from Take That at a zoo with his children - his children were playing with mine in the park

SweetToffee · 07/04/2021 22:18

Jonny Morris (70s Kids telly)
Jose Murino , got booed at WWE show. Anniversary said we have Jose here, he stood up and waved and the crowd booed

LadyDanburysCane · 07/04/2021 22:18

Loads. I worked in around the “theatre land” are of central London for years so regularly saw celebs. I always restrained myself from approaching them - even Sean Bean....

IsThePopeCatholic · 07/04/2021 22:19

@70isaLimitNotaTarget

Brian May (World's Best Guitar Player) I think he's Dr Brian May ?

Tottenham Court Road . I looked at him and recognised him but couldn't place him. (Just thought ooh he's really tall'n'thin )
DH said "Oh that'd Brian May" and he (Brian) gave me a really nice goofy grin.

Do I win?

Ha ha I did the same when Robert Lindsey was having lunch with his family in one of our favourite local pubs. I was convinced I knew him and must have worked with him or something. DH played along for ages before whispering "It's Citizen Smith you silly sod" in my ear 😁
DianaT1969 · 07/04/2021 22:19

Phoebesgift · 07/04/2021 22:19

Oh forgot I also saw Chris Evans and his enterage in the late 1990s drinking in a pub called the Haverstock Arms, Belsize Park. He was a regular.

moochingtothepub · 07/04/2021 22:20

Used to catch the same train as Ian Hislop, not sure he really counts as he has a proper day job and commutes

digthroughtheditches · 07/04/2021 22:20

Maxine Peake in Manchester.

BikeRunSki · 07/04/2021 22:21

Jarvis Cocker in Safeway’s in Sheffield, before it was Waitrose, about 20 years ago!
Niamh Cusack and Rupert Penry-Jones on the checkout next to us in Bangor* Tesco’s, about 10 years ago.
Jodie Whittaker just in the street locally, 2 or 3 years ago. She comes from the next village.

*the one in North Wales, not NI

VienneseWhirligig · 07/04/2021 22:21

The Dali Lama in Northern India
Emma Thompson in London
Jambo in Chester

EezyOozy · 07/04/2021 22:23

Alan Davies has walked past my house with some kids a couple of times. We live in the north-east and at the end of our street is a massive park. I think he must have family in the north-east or something…

RuggeryBuggery · 07/04/2021 22:23

Gordon Ramsey on Wandsworth common with dog and family. Years ago now.

And John Torode from masterchef with his kids ironically in a chain restaurant that had terrible food

midsomermurderess · 07/04/2021 22:23

Many years ago, Melvyn Bragg. He was much taller than I would have expected, and yes, the hair was luxuriant.
And a tired-looking Olivia Colman queuing for a coffee in a park in South London, with 2 small children. I thought 'I know you', then when the penny dropped, did that British thing of, not cool, not cool at all, pretend you don't recognise her.
Oh, and Neil Oliver, queuing for the same plane as me at Bristol Airport He is tiny, but the hair is all there.

Lahlahlah · 07/04/2021 22:24

Paula Yates
Bob Geldof (not at the same time as I saw Paula)
Vic Reeves
Tracy Emin
Nigel Planer

Athenajm80 · 07/04/2021 22:24

I saw Russell Brand with some girls taking a selfie with him. We'd (my family and I, not RB and I!) had gone to a restaurant after my 18yr old nephew had finished the London Marathon, but I'd gone to the front for a cigarette. I knew my nephew liked him so went to go and call him but by the time he limped to me, RB was getting into his limo. I didn't want to shout to ask him to wait cause I was too self-conscious so no photo opp for my nephew. I wish I'd been a bit quicker, it would have been an unexpected bonus for my nephew.

Heatherjayne1972 · 07/04/2021 22:24

Mr tumble at our local train station !!

Plus a footballer who did the ‘don’t you know who I am ?’ Routine - nope no
Idea who he was. But referred to his (female) child with Down’s syndrome as ‘it’

  • despicable man
GrumpyHoonMain · 07/04/2021 22:24

Bob geldof gave me a dirty look outside Bond St once. And apparently I used to buy coffee from Robert Pattinson but I can’t remember

JuniLoolaPalooza · 07/04/2021 22:24

Lots when I lived in London but my fave is probably Noel Gallagher looking lost on Jermyn St and the same height as me (5ft2!)

I live v near Andy Day and he's so nice when people do approach him.

EezyOozy · 07/04/2021 22:25

Oh I had a 30 min long phone conversation with David Ginola once (i was at work). He was friendly and polite.

AnneKipanki · 07/04/2021 22:26

Miranda Richardson .
She was getting heckled by four young men .

plominoagain · 07/04/2021 22:26

Fell over Boris Johnson and his bike when he was the Mayor of London . He was coming into a building when I was coming out , and I didn’t recognise him all woolly hatted up until I barked at him for dithering and he blustered an apology at me ..
