As for a real celebrity in the street I did see Bill
Clinton randomly in a street in Barcelona! I talked to him in a somewhat starstruck way, he was very polite.

Fern Britton in the theatre
Mohammed Ali outside a radio station
Rupert Everett sat next to me (different table) in a coffee shop in Soho
Eddie Izzard in the street
Paula Yates in a cafe just after she got engaged to Bob Geldof (the emerald was bigger than she was!)
Tom Baker (ex Dr Who) used to get on my train regularly and was always the gentleman
Lucy Speed (ex Bill and just finished as Marnie in Unforgotten) in the local supermarket
Denise van Outen - I realised I was standing next to her at a kids teacup ride at a funfair
Paul McCartney in the street

Best one though wasn't a celeb of 'mine'. When I first started work as a teenager I had a male friend who was a huge fan of Kate Bush. He absolutely worshipped her. Anyway, one day he was late getting back after running an errand to another office (like send out a search party late). This was pre-mobile phones. He finally turned up and it turned out he'd gone to up in the lift and realised the only other occupant was...Kate Bush! Then the lift got stuck. 'What did you say' we asked. 'Nothing' he replied 'I was so scared of saying something stupid that I didn't talk to her'....for 15 minutes whilst they were stuck! He was kicking himself for weeks!

Tommy Lee Jones running from cab to hotel on 5th Avenue!!

dotdashdashdash · 08/04/2021 09:06

The woman who plays Janice Battersby at a northern shopping centre.
Maxine Peak walking down the street
Jeremy Kyle at the service station - he's really skinny with a massive head.
Plenty of Hollyoaks and Corrie cast at the Trafford centre.

Frazzled2207 · 08/04/2021 09:08

@ElephantsNest

Lots - if you’ve spent a good length of time in a naice part of central London you will see plenty of famous people.
Similarly there is a restaurant in manchester (not particularly posh tbf) where you are virtually guaranteed to see either some United footballers or the Corrie cast
dotdashdashdash · 08/04/2021 09:08

Oh, and Ralph Lauren going in to Ralph Lauren in new York

HiGunny · 08/04/2021 09:12

I'm in Ireland so have seen a good few Irish celebs as they generally feel comfortable walking around as most people don't bother them.
Andrea Corr walking down Grafton Street at the height of Corrs fame.
Sat near Bono and his family in a hotel.
Passed Gabriel Byrne in the street.
Cian from Westlife was parked near me in a car park back in late noughties.
Sat in a cafe near Brian from Westlife in their early days. He's really tall!
(Also knew Shane from Westlife in my teen years.)
.....Think I'm coming across as a bit of a Westlife stalker 😂

Livpool · 08/04/2021 09:12

Oh and Johnny Knoxville in Vegas

buddy79 · 08/04/2021 09:33

Zoe Ball in our cars - i got in a pickle trying to reverse park on a busy tiny street, she very kindly waited to let me out then leaned out of her window to smile and commiserate with me about the nightmare traffic round here! She was lovely.

SuperintendentHastings · 08/04/2021 09:39

George Michael. He was young and beautiful and I just stopped in my tracks and gawped. He smiled and said hi. I kind of made a weird noise in return. Not very cool on my part ...

SuperintendentHastings · 08/04/2021 09:42

@Waxonwaxoff0

Also see Vicky Mcclure sometimes as she's from my area.
I actually think I would run after her and hang onto her leg and beg to be her best friend. #stillnotcool
littleredberries · 08/04/2021 09:44

Natalie Dormer out relaxing in Richmond Park. She had a bit of an entourage

ArtichokeAardvark · 08/04/2021 09:46

Maggie Smith in John Lewis.
Andrew Garfield crossing Waterloo Bridge.
Hugh Grant in the village pub years ago - his aunt lived down the road from my granny Grin

LittleDynamite · 08/04/2021 09:48

My best spot was Bill Bailey, who I love. He was going into the toilets at a service station.

I was at the bar at a Bill Bailey gig about a hundred years ago and just got the drinks and muttered to myself 'shit I forgot to buy crisps'. A hand shot out in front of me from the man standing beside me to offer me a crisp from a packet - it was the lovely Bill himself. He was SO nice.
supercatlady · 08/04/2021 09:52

My husband saw Paul Mc Cartney in London. They had a chat and he shook his hand.

HaveringWavering · 08/04/2021 09:54

I saw Paul McCartney and his wife Nancy walking towards me as I was running in Regent’s Park once. I had just completely the longest training run I had ever done in my life and it was an amazing cherry on top!

irregularegular · 08/04/2021 09:57

Lenny Henry lives very nearby.
George Michael used to before he died.
Have seen them both out and about in the village, though not often.

BearSoFair · 08/04/2021 10:02

Paloma Faith. Flapping about halfway along Oxford St loudly proclaiming how she was 'soooo lost!' Hmm Everyone was ignoring her which did make me laugh!

DH once hurried around a corner and walked straight into Julian Clary. Said he was lovely and didn't seem at all bothered about it.

BearSoFair · 08/04/2021 10:12

Oh I forgot Kit Harington! Picking up his luggage at Stansted, he looked like he was about to fall asleep standing up, it was when they were filming the final season of GoT so he must have been exhausted!

Mysterian · 08/04/2021 10:14

I saw Mr Burns from The Simpsons. Not in the street but I was just behind him in the queue to see a show at the Edinburgh Fringe. He was teeny tiny, and pretending to be the actor Harry Shearer at the time.

LadyEloise · 08/04/2021 10:16

Barbara Windsor in an hotel lift.
Bob Dylan going for a walk near his hotel in Dublin.
Princess Eugenie sitting behind me at a match.

Inthesameboatatmo · 08/04/2021 10:20

I worked in a petrol station once and Darren hayes from savage garden came in.
I also worked at a Holland and barrett in surrey and mick hucknel would come in all the time he was really kind and down to earth eamon Holmes and his wife however were completely up their own arseholes were absolutely horrid people

JengaCupboard · 08/04/2021 10:22

Tom Parker Bowles - running for a taxi on Kensington Church Street - taxi drove off without him and he did that brilliant Peter Kay-esque 'continued run' as if to make out he hadn't actually been running after said cab...

Ruth Wilson at Southwark tube station - physically crashed straight into her and her massive suitcase as we both tried to go opposite ways through the disabled access barrier...

Ivander Holifild somewhere in the city... he was pointed out to me in fairness as I wouldn't know who he was otherwise...

Jasmine from Place in the Sun filming on the beach in the Algarve...

Blughbablugh · 08/04/2021 10:35

A grumpy looking James Cordon walked past me by the Alex theatre in Birmingham.
I saw Michael Burke in M and S on Oxford Street.
My husband once got very excited that an England cricketer was buying similar wardrobes to us at the same time in Ikea.
I've seen a few at the theatre I used to work at including the actor who plays Cain Dingle and Alan Rickman who booked out the whole of the row so he didn't have to sit next to anyone. Also someone else who used to be on Emmerdale and I just kept looking at thinking she looked familiar and wondering if it was someone I used to work with. I then realised she was in fact an actress off the tv 😂
