This is so true!

I've skipped straight to the last page. I'm after the number of MNers who have met Anthony Head and found him utterly charming? It's usually in the double figures Grin

Nick Cave sitting in a cafe in London

subbysammiexoxo · 08/04/2021 02:47

CatAndHisKit · 08/04/2021 02:54

Bob Geldof too but twice, on King's Rd and also in an airport.

Prince Charles on Fortnum and Mason's steps after his visit there and then being photographed by one or two press at entrance - hardly any crowd as it was random.

The poor late Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, as I then lived in the area, several times - same hairdressers (twice), distantly in the street with her fiend, and her and Anton whatever his surname whom she then dated, in the same lift as me at Gatwick.

Kate Middleton and one guard walking from Ken Palace on narrow path right past me in opp direction (no one else around) before they hit the busy street and then there were cheers from tourists (soon after she moved in to Ken Palace).

Mick Jagger - not in street, but in a hotel reception in Milan Shock !! that was a shock, and the only time I got completely star-struck (not that I saw any other pop / rock stars close up, but I always fancied him).

CatAndHisKit · 08/04/2021 03:13

Also Camilla turning on Christmas lights in an arcade off Piccadilly Grin, she was surrounded/mingling with retailers from all the shops so anyone could come up to her.

Prince William when he was about 18 at a very small (about 8 tables tops), informal but good restaurant in a group of six friends and guards. We were on the next table. Turned around once and glanced straight at me. Few of them were throwing bread at each other at some point Confused - living up to the cliche.

elp30 · 08/04/2021 03:49

Peter Hook, the bassist for Joy Division/ New Order at my local newsagent outside of Bolton. He let my kids sit in his TVR.

Craig Charles at a Waterstones in Reading.

Bryan Ferry at a newspaper kiosk in Los Angeles. He really was as elegant and as good-looking as I imagined he was...

Jarvis Cocker walking along a street in Austin, Texas. It was weirder because Spandau Ballet was premiering their film, Soul Boys of the Western World, at a theater in Austin and were taking photographs outside the theater. Jarvis walked up to where I was and took a photo and even the Spandau boys were like, "Was that Jarvis Cocker?" Jarvis had a film premiering at the same event that day.

At that same event I met Mike Peters from the Alarm and I sat next to Elijah Wood, the actor from The Lord of the Rings, during the Spandau film. We serenaded each other during a performance of "True".

I was walking in Houston, Texas downtown and ran into Rick Astley. I didn't know he was performing in the city. It was a nice surprise.

I was on a plane with the actor, F Murray Abraham (Amadeus, Scarface, etc). He was in my hometown in Texas visiting his relatives before attending the Academy Awards in Los Angeles where he received the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Salieri in Amadeus.

I remember exchanging pleasantries with Prince Andrew back in 1987. He was so nice and friendly and made my trip to England just extra special. Bummer that he's not so wonderful after all.

Murray Walker was parked next to me in a car park in Windsor. He was kind enough to help me collapse a baby stroller.

I did see David Beckham in Bents Garden Centre in Cheshire back in the 90's. I had no idea who he was because I had just moved to England from the US and I didn't follow football but I remember everyone making a big deal about him. Now, I would trample over people to get to him.

Mummyoflittledragon · 08/04/2021 04:19

Victoria and David Beckham with Brooklyn when he was about 2 so 2001ish at (I think) outside the ladies loos. David was carrying Brooklyn. She nipped into Boots and back to the loo.

Tom Ward strutting very fast at Marylebone station.

Nicholas Bailey (Antony Trueman Eastenders) at a club - some owner around Bond Street in mid 2000’s. I was rather drunk and talked to him, apologising to his girlfriend - wasn’t chatting him up btw.

Jamie Stewart from The Cult whilst he was in the band. He lived in a very unassuming terraced house a few doors down from my nan and he sent her an invite to his wedding reception - quick Google says 4th March 1989. I went with her. The other members weren’t there btw. The guys were all in kilts.

Mummyoflittledragon · 08/04/2021 04:21

That sentence should say the Beckhams at (I think) Heathrow airport outside the ladies loos.

BikeRunSki · 08/04/2021 05:19

Bob Geldof jogging on Chelsea Embankment/Battersea Park, often, as I was cycling to/from school.1980s.

baroqueandblue · 08/04/2021 07:13

Griff Rhys Jones with a guitar slung over his shoulder in Oxford St

Louis Theroux looking for a parking meter in Islington

Woody Allen on Shaftesbury Avenue, sitting in a director's chair surrounded by film crew

Tim Roth squeezed past me in a bar. I was sitting down and his arse brushed my back. Swoon

Jon Moss (drummer from Culture Club) in a bar in Kings Cross. He bought me a beer

I was at college at the same time as the League of Gentlemen, before they were the LOG. Saw some of the sketches and horror film parodies they did there when they were 'learning their craft'. Had a bit more than a fumble with one of them when we were both very drunk one night, but not saying which one...

baroqueandblue · 08/04/2021 07:16

Oh, forgot Robbie Coltrane - sitting in a big yellow frock eating stuff from a catering van while taking a break from filming

lightand · 08/04/2021 07:39

Several. Live in an area where they are seen.
Will mention one though, because he has died now. Ronnie Corbett. I am short, I knew he was supposed to be short, but he was even shorter than I was. We were coming towards each other on a pavement. Then he went into a small office where someone was waiting for him and opened the door as soon as he appeared.

Buffyfan26 · 08/04/2021 07:49

Dd is always seeing Coronation street actors around manchester, Sue Nichols who plays Audrey is a sainsburys regular!

Buffyfan26 · 08/04/2021 07:51

Oh and I saw Ricky Gervais in Central London at a cash point. Wanted to say hello but he got his phone out and made a call. I’d read an interview with him where he said he did that to avoid fans!

hellcatspangle · 08/04/2021 07:51

RampantIvy · 08/04/2021 08:17

We were having a sales conference at a hotel in Sheffield. One of the guys had nipped out to the loo. When he came back he told us that Newcastle United were checking in as they were playing Sheffield Wednesday that weekend.

The marketing director decided that it was time for a coffee break and for us to check in as well. I stood next to Kevin Keegan at the reception counter and was astonished at how short he was.
