I saw George Sampson once.

OP posts:
Tartyflette · 07/04/2021 23:21

Sir Roger Moore at Liverpool St station. Looked like a million dollars.
Sir Trevor MacDonald on a Tube escalator, he really gave me the eye!
Charles Dance, very tall , blonde and distinguished, at the Haywood Gallery, London.
(Not a Knight of the Realm, but still...)
Alexei Sayle outside a bike shop on Grays Inn Road.
Prince Edward going into the ITN building on Grays Inn Road.
Actually , loads of famous people going in and out of there. (Worked there for a while.) Jon Snow, Rick Parfitt, Mary Nightingale.
Rory McGrath, pissed as a fart, on the street in Cambridge.

Was on a train to Bristol once - standing room only squished up near the doors, as was Baldrick....! Dying to speak to him but didn't want to be cringey.....Grin.

Also on a train (got to go 1st class with some bigger wigs from work) and Bath Rugby player Jeremy Guscott was sitting behind my boss!

Ooh - and sat at a table outside a bar in Corfu with friends, and George Best was at the next table! He was obviously a local, and was on his own drinking something soft and just chatting to the owner. I was really hungover and looked so rough I couldn't ask to have my photo taken with him - so wish I had! I know it would have been naff but even so.......

No-one in the actual street though.....

WithASpider · 07/04/2021 23:21

Lee Sharpe in my local pub. His parents live nearby so we see him reasonably often.
Michael Flatley of Riverdance fame occasionally turned up in the same pub. Had a bit of a thing for the much younger ladies.

megletthesecond · 07/04/2021 23:23

Jennifer Aniston in Covent garden (slim, glossy).
Eric Clapton, I assumed he was a scruffy mate of my dad's.
Peaches Geldof. So so pretty. Poor soul.

smallgoon · 07/04/2021 23:24

I live in London so you practically always see a sleb. The last two I saw were Jo Brand and Kate Thornton (not together) in Dulwich Park a few weeks back. Jo Brand was funny because I recognised the voice before I'd seen who it was.

allycat4 · 07/04/2021 23:25

Weirdly all these people I've seen a few times over the years in different parts of town:
Nigel Havers
Brian May
Hugh Grant

And then shed-loads of soap stars.

Joanna Lumley in Peter Jones loo!

IslaMann · 07/04/2021 23:25

Few years back a group of late teens were laughing and joking outside Cabot Circus in Bristol. One of them dropped his bag right by me. I said oops and laughed, looked at him and realised it was Tom Daley. He's beautiful.

Also, in Edinburgh during the fringe in 2019, I saw a couple of comedians. Mark Watson wandering round with his family & Paul Foot crossing South Bridge. My husband was performing there and didn't see anyone famous Grin

Cowbells · 07/04/2021 23:28

David Bowie and Iman crossing the road outside our house. DH and I just gawped and Bowie gave us a friendly grin.

Tom Baker (Early Dr Who) - came tottering towards me once, very smiley.

Actor Stephen Macintosh on the phone on Tottenham Ct Road. He looked scared of being recognised so I looked away.

Robert Webb (to be fair, coming out of the theatre where we'd just seen him perform - but I've never seen any actor be back in civvies and out the door so quickly. He said Hi to DC then ran off somewhere really fast. He was tiny.

David Hyde Pierce twice. Once in a cafe in France and then a week later he sat next to me in a London theatre. I had a massive crush on him at the time, so liked to imagine we were almost mates by then! Grin

Habbyhadno · 07/04/2021 23:28

Kate Middleton's brother, James, in Chelsea wearing a blue suit and cycling a bike with a massive trug on the front with three black dogs in it. Was quite a bizarre sight 😄

GellerYeller · 07/04/2021 23:29

Rick Astley looking in shop windows
Ricky Wilson outside a bar
Rick Witter from Shed Seven queuing in a shop
A hat trick of Ricks, if you will Grin

AngelicaSchuylerAndHerSisters · 07/04/2021 23:29

Meg Ryan in Harvey Nicholls and Roger Moore outside his son’s restaurant

IslaMann · 07/04/2021 23:30

Oh, also sat at the next table to Matt Le Tissier for Sunday lunch a few years back. My DS was playing peek-a-boo with his young daughter, and afterwards said he thought her dad looked familiar. He was gutted when we pointed out he was a sky sports pundit that DS watched most weeks!

FrankiesKnuckle · 07/04/2021 23:30

Richard Ayoade cycling up Herne Hill.
Jay Rayner walking down Oxford street.
Alexis Taylor (hot chip) down Carnaby Street.
Joanna Lumley in Sainsbury's on Wandsworth Road.
Ruth Langford at my local garden centre.

SakuraEdenSwan1 · 07/04/2021 23:32

Little Mix in Sainsbury's.

Malteser71 · 07/04/2021 23:33

Mel C sat next to me for ages waiting for a train. Ewan McGregor at a cash point one Sunday morning. Kate Adie and Jeremy Kyle (both in St Ives). Sally from Corrie in the airport.

Habbyhadno · 07/04/2021 23:33

Ooh I've got more! Literally walked into Damon Albarn coming out of a newsagents in Notting Hill, we both said 'sorry'. Noel Fielding, again in a newsagents in Mornington Crescent. Bill Bailey walked past a restaurant I was in in Leicester Square. The singer and bass player from Travis in the street in Camden outside the Monarch, oh and randomly Rupert Grint in Moss Bros at Hatfield Galleria, he seemed to be buying suits for a lot of his friends. Not in the street, but a celeb spot nevertheless.

Vinotinto78 · 07/04/2021 23:33

Madge from Neighbours, wearing shades and a fur coat on the Shambles in York.
Jim Bowen in Windermere.
Jeremy Beadle in Meadowhall.
So not exactly A-list 😆.

Malteser71 · 07/04/2021 23:34

Oh and Sue Johnston in Sainsbury’s, looking very glamourous.

Irishgene · 07/04/2021 23:34

Jessie Wallace once stole my cab

Gredandforge · 07/04/2021 23:35

Cate Blanchett crying as she walked away from Philip Seymour Hoffman’s funeral.

Ariela · 07/04/2021 23:35

I've met loads of celebs in a previous job 30 years or so ago. All sorts, but perhaps the most embarrassing was almost bowling Elton John over - I flew through a revolving door (in a rush, late) and almost tripped over him (he's not as tall as me). Brian May made me a cup of coffee once he was lovely (had to take something to his place for signature) and John Entwistle (The Who) had to call his Irish Wolfhounds off - they were huge and surrounded me!

cateycloggs · 07/04/2021 23:37

In the late 70s I saw David Bowie and jump out of one train carriage into another . They were laughing as was Bianca Jagger whom I saw in a tube carriage with a group of young men. They were both wearing white or cream suits.

bedroomews · 07/04/2021 23:37

Not the street but I saw Charlize Theron at Heathrow once and I also saw the Cambridge's drive on Notting Hill oh and I saw Anthony Joshua in Marbella last summer who I thought was a footballer as people were taking pictures of him as I walked past him and asked someone who the footballer was Blush

proopher · 07/04/2021 23:38
