Warning - if you have made an online appointment with Rush hairdressers, they are not honouring these and will fit you in ad hoc instead!

Hello mumsnetters,

Am really pissed off today, because the online hair appointment for a full head of colour that I made with my local Rush salon on the 23rd February (just after the Boris roadmap announcement) for the 14th April, has just now, been cancelled!

I booked it through Rush's official online booking system, and received a full email confirmation. To make doubly sure, I called Rush (on the number given) the day after (24th February) and spoke to a person who said I was definitely booked for 12 midday on the 14th April and that he could clearly see it on his online system.

Fast forward to today and I received an email at 5 pm (when their phones go off - cowards!) to say that they had rescheduled my appointment, and it would now be on the 24th April - ie almost two weeks later when I'd specifically booked for 14th April- ie the 3rd day after reopening.

What's worse is that because they've waited til now to tell me, I obviously can't book anywhere else decent at this short notice. Well played by Rush I guess.

Lastly, for background, I am a regular client at my local Rush salon and have being going there for a regular full head of colour for years. I've always been nice and get on well with my stylist and staff. I have checked my phone from missed calls from Rush or voice mails and there are none!

Just pissed off that I booked straight away, on a working online booking system, 2 months ahead of time; and now 6 days in advance of opening I have been bumped back nearly 2 weeks. As my booked appointment was for Weds 14th and they only open on Mon 12th I can only assume I've been pushed back for mates and family - a 10 day delay can not have been for genuine clients.

Please check if you've made a online booking with Rush salons as it seems they do not feel obliged to honour it.

Is it possible that the stylist you would have had is now having to self-isolate and the 24th was the first they could accommodate you?

Marmite27 · 06/04/2021 19:57

Honestly, get a grip.

Hoppythehippo · 06/04/2021 20:03

I think it’s really unfair to slate them on here when you haven’t actually even spoken to them yet. It could be something like having to change their system to allow a longer gap between clients due to guidance updates, it could be someone is off sick/on holiday, for all you know your stylist was hit by a bus yesterday or has been bereaved.... you’re being ridiculous jumping to the conclusion they’ve bumped you for their mates. And since you booked online sending an email seems a reasonable method of contacting you.

Honestly, it’s a hair appointment, it’s not a last minute cancellation of life changing nhs surgery.

Well thank you for your entirely helpful comment, but I won't be doing that, thank you. I booked something 2 months in advance for a specific date and it has been changed, without any discussion, to two weeks later. Good for you if you like to gratefully tip your cap and take whatever's given, but I would like to stick to the electronic and verbal contract that's been made, thanks.

They accepted my booking. If they wanted to be all fluffy about it, they shouldn't have adopted a booking system. That's kind of what a booking system is. It's a confirmation of a time and a date for a service.

JovialNickname · 06/04/2021 20:11

Oh and no they are open on the 12th, and my stylist is there too. It's just a whim to change it, and clearly I have to accept that, according to MN.

Funnily enough, the two times I have used their online system when I have turned up in store they have no record of the appointment.

This is all true but then I think it's only fair that they call me- I would gave been happy to discuss. If their stylist who I have known for many years had been hit by a bus, surely a phone call rather than an automated email would have been the way to go.

Blimey Confused

Bambooshoot · 06/04/2021 20:47

Maybe your stylist tested positive, or was a contact, so has to wait two weeks? The online booking might not be the complete picture, and they might not want to make it public. I kind of understand that in your head this might have been a step in getting back to normality and now it's been taken away from you, which is really hard, and bound to make you feel pretty devastated.

Only saying this because I always used to get the best haircut/treatment ever with Rush back in London (I'm not in the UK anymore), and they were always great at customer service, sadly, Keith is no longer with us, but he was amazing.

Hels48 · 06/04/2021 20:52

I think you have every right to be peed off - I would be! We have so little to look forward to at the moment going to the hair dressers is a big thing!

Couchbettato · 06/04/2021 21:06

Well I think I'd be giving them a call first to say it's not what you were expecting, and if they can't rectify it I'd take my money elsewhere if I were in your shoes.

It's not fantastic customer service is it?

When there's a good explanation for things it's a bit different but in the absence of that explanation it's just a shitty thing to do.

I would be pissed off and disappointed but I would assume something has happened which means my appointment has been delayed rather than they messed up. I doubt you will know either way.

Athinginitself · 06/04/2021 21:21

It seems unfair to post on here before you have even spoken to them, it might be that the online system went wrong/stylist has a funeral etc that day etc etc. I can understand you being disappointed but its harsh to slate them online before discussing with them.

TheNestedIf · 06/04/2021 21:23

Appreciate that they're open on 12th but how do you know your stylist's still going to be at work?

Kiki275 · 07/04/2021 07:38

Salons should be ensuring clients have up to date patch tests. Have they offered you this, hence maybe the reason for bumping you back?

NiceTwin · 07/04/2021 07:42

Is it a famous salon? Never heard of it.
Slightly annoying but in the grand scheme of things, it's only 2 weeks.

Have it out with them when you go for your appointment.

EventuallyDistracted · 07/04/2021 07:48

I do think they should have offered an explanation, but can absolutely see why things might have changed between shortly after the roadmap was announced and now, it must be hellishly complicated planning for reopening again at the moment. Why not ring them this morning instead of trashing their reputation on a public forum.

stalachtiteorstalagmite · 07/04/2021 07:49

God, just go somewhere else. It's annoying but it's really not a big deal in the grand scheme of things.

grafittiartist · 07/04/2021 07:54

Life is quite changeable at the moment. Things will be need to be flexible for a while I think.

Go somewhere else! I go to an independent hairdressers and they have been amazing. They called me after Bojo's roadmap announcement to book me in, and they will be telephoning all clients this week to reconfirm appointments for next week.

stevematekatemate · 07/04/2021 08:34

What an odd post for a haircut.

Changes happen. Anything could have happened and you are shouting your mouth off without speaking to them.

ZeroFuchsGiven · 07/04/2021 08:38

You sound like a pita, I would put off doing your hair too.
