Warning - if you have made an online appointment with Rush hairdressers, they are not honouring these and will fit you in ad hoc instead!

Hello mumsnetters,

Am really pissed off today, because the online hair appointment for a full head of colour that I made with my local Rush salon on the 23rd February (just after the Boris roadmap announcement) for the 14th April, has just now, been cancelled!

I booked it through Rush's official online booking system, and received a full email confirmation. To make doubly sure, I called Rush (on the number given) the day after (24th February) and spoke to a person who said I was definitely booked for 12 midday on the 14th April and that he could clearly see it on his online system.

Fast forward to today and I received an email at 5 pm (when their phones go off - cowards!) to say that they had rescheduled my appointment, and it would now be on the 24th April - ie almost two weeks later when I'd specifically booked for 14th April- ie the 3rd day after reopening.

What's worse is that because they've waited til now to tell me, I obviously can't book anywhere else decent at this short notice. Well played by Rush I guess.

Lastly, for background, I am a regular client at my local Rush salon and have being going there for a regular full head of colour for years. I've always been nice and get on well with my stylist and staff. I have checked my phone from missed calls from Rush or voice mails and there are none!

Just pissed off that I booked straight away, on a working online booking system, 2 months ahead of time; and now 6 days in advance of opening I have been bumped back nearly 2 weeks. As my booked appointment was for Weds 14th and they only open on Mon 12th I can only assume I've been pushed back for mates and family - a 10 day delay can not have been for genuine clients.

Please check if you've made a online booking with Rush salons as it seems they do not feel obliged to honour it.

Is this some sort of national chain of hairdressers? I've never heard of them.

Hoppinggreen · 07/04/2021 08:41

Never heard of them but thanks for the heads up

DIshedUp · 07/04/2021 08:42

There could be any number of reasons why they had to cancel. Its only a haircut. It hardly requires a warning to the whole world, if you aren't happy just go elsewhere

Could they be cancelling appointments because the business is going bust or they're laying off stylists? Bigs chains like Rush must have massive running costs.

ZeroFuchsGiven · 07/04/2021 08:54

Does anyone else think 'Rush' is a terrible name for a hair salon? I think the name itself would put me off going there.

Opticabbage · 07/04/2021 09:16

Such weird reactions! They just emailed you a new date, without calling to apologise and find out when would be convenient for you?! Terrible service. I would be taking my money elsewhere.
It will be good when demand for these businesses returns to normal and they have to make an effort again.

Oh, it's the correct name for them Grin My first cut with them was great. My second, I was obviously a terrible inconvenience. Not been back, won't be back.
emilyfrost · 07/04/2021 09:54

You need to calm down. You shouldn’t be so angry because your hair appointment has been put back; you have absolutely no idea why.

WeAllHaveWings · 07/04/2021 09:54

I would find out why they have changed the appointment before publicly slating them with your assumptions.

It could be anything from staff issues, covid restrictions their booking system couldn't handle or they have just discovered and had to make changes and a large number of bookings had to be rearranged or pushed back.

Fair enough to be disappointed, but it is a haircut and 10 days, it is not a big deal.

SnarkyBag · 07/04/2021 09:59

Irritating but not worthy of all this angst.

Beautiful3 · 07/04/2021 10:04

I would give them a call and ask why it had been changed. They owe you an explanation.

Kanaloa · 07/04/2021 10:08

I don’t think it’s acceptable for them just to email you a new appointment without actually speaking to you. It isn’t very professional. If there had been a major issue, for example staff sickness, the professional thing to do would be ring you and say sorry there has been an issue, is there another day that would work for you.

You might be able to get an appointment sooner elsewhere if you look around. I would be annoyed as well.

Littlefluffyclouds13 · 07/04/2021 10:09

I dread to think how you'd react if you had, you know, an actual crisis situation to deal with!! Grin

IWantMyHoney · 07/04/2021 10:15

Wow! Shock

ItMustBeBedtimeSurely · 07/04/2021 10:24

Two whole weeks! You poor thing!

Londontown12 · 07/04/2021 10:51

This is the problem with Rush salons Unlike other places they have separate people who do all the bookings has nothing to do with the stylists who gets booked in ! X

Returnoftheowl · 07/04/2021 10:57

Is it because they need to do a patch test in advance?
I saw someone else on MN saying there appointment on the 12th had been cancelled this week as she needed to do a patch test 48hrs before the appointment.

I would be unimpressed if my appointment for cancelled at this late stage.

Bufferingkisses · 07/04/2021 12:13

Almost everywhere is taking the same approach, those who had to be cancelled due to lockdown get seen first, those who were booked after lockdown are pushed back, those who have not yet booked have to wait until the backlog is cleared.

It is a perfectly fair and reasonable approach and you are bang out of order for slating them in this way.

Seriously, like they haven't got enough stress already you accuse them of things for which you have absolutely no evidence publicly. Forget hair, go grip shopping.

MazekeenSmith · 07/04/2021 12:17

YABU to say this is what rush are doing when you have no idea why your appointment has been moved!

cruzrack · 07/04/2021 12:43

I booked mine with my local Rush salon online yesterday so will be calling them shortly to confirm. Thanks for the heads up.

AdobeWanKenobi · 07/04/2021 13:11

Fucking hell cut the OP some slack eh? There is precious little to look forward to at the moment, cant blame her for being a bit disappointed.

A bit disappointed? She has come on here to openly slate the company without even knowing WHY they have rescheduled.
Youngatheart00 · 07/04/2021 13:23

I had an absolutely dreadful haircut with Rush several years ago. Guess it depends on which of their salons you go to.

Take your money elsewhere would be my recommendation!

ShirleyPhallus · 07/04/2021 13:27

Rush is a pretty crap chain of salons tbf. But this is a huge overreaction.
