Warning - if you have made an online appointment with Rush hairdressers, they are not honouring these and will fit you in ad hoc instead!

Hello mumsnetters,

Am really pissed off today, because the online hair appointment for a full head of colour that I made with my local Rush salon on the 23rd February (just after the Boris roadmap announcement) for the 14th April, has just now, been cancelled!

I booked it through Rush's official online booking system, and received a full email confirmation. To make doubly sure, I called Rush (on the number given) the day after (24th February) and spoke to a person who said I was definitely booked for 12 midday on the 14th April and that he could clearly see it on his online system.

Fast forward to today and I received an email at 5 pm (when their phones go off - cowards!) to say that they had rescheduled my appointment, and it would now be on the 24th April - ie almost two weeks later when I'd specifically booked for 14th April- ie the 3rd day after reopening.

What's worse is that because they've waited til now to tell me, I obviously can't book anywhere else decent at this short notice. Well played by Rush I guess.

Lastly, for background, I am a regular client at my local Rush salon and have being going there for a regular full head of colour for years. I've always been nice and get on well with my stylist and staff. I have checked my phone from missed calls from Rush or voice mails and there are none!

Just pissed off that I booked straight away, on a working online booking system, 2 months ahead of time; and now 6 days in advance of opening I have been bumped back nearly 2 weeks. As my booked appointment was for Weds 14th and they only open on Mon 12th I can only assume I've been pushed back for mates and family - a 10 day delay can not have been for genuine clients.

Please check if you've made a online booking with Rush salons as it seems they do not feel obliged to honour it.

I get it. It’s the one thing I’ve been looking forward to for bloody months. It’s ridiculous how self care has been allowed to be closed for so long. I would also complain. I’m worried about mine in a week. With an Indy salon but my stylist has had some major life things happen (nice ones ). Took appointments and deposit (I was meant to go in January originally) and I’ve made sure I have the day off work. If they were to move/cancel I probably wouldn’t be able to do it at short notice and I’d have wasted a days leave. They are the only stylist I know (and I know quite a few) that hasn’t put anything on their SM to confirm opening dates/appointments.

@Honeybobbin

What an overreaction! It's just a haircut and you actually have no idea why it's been changed! Also it drives me mad when people mention places as if we're all going to know them... I have never heard of Rush, no idea where in the country you are but you assume we'll all just know what you're on about. (This particularly happens with school threads!)
I was thinking the same, who or what is Rush?!
JaneJeffer · 07/04/2021 13:45

You've given a lot of details about your appointment. I hope your stylist doesn't give you a bad hairdo in return for bad publicity.

I think it's terrible you have made this post with no idea of the reason behind the rescheduling.
I get that you are disappointed, but bloody hell, get some perspective.

LilacTrees · 07/04/2021 13:50

It's a shame but it seems a bit of an overreaction to a postponed hair appointment. These things happen sometimes. You didn't have a contract with them, just a hair appointment. Bit odd to phone after making the online appointment to check you had an appointment too.

nitsandwormsdodger · 07/04/2021 13:50

Don't know if you've notice but there is a pandemic on and your stylist may be grieving sick or have usual problems like cancer divorce to deal with
Yes I'm really looking forward to my hair appointment but you sound utterly self absorbed and clearly v v v v lucky if this is what has got you insanely round up like this

fruitandflowers · 07/04/2021 13:52

Rush has always had a crap online system. I stopped going there after yet another appointment I turned up to and they had double booked.

Sorry about your appt, how frustrating.

midsomermurderess · 07/04/2021 13:53

It's a tantrum, isn't it. Foot stamping
How silly.

VioletViola · 07/04/2021 14:00

I can understand your frustration; I have one day off a week and make appointments on that day because it's almost impossible to get time off work. If a salon/dentist/any service provider moved my appointment like this with no discussion, I'd be irritated as well.

That said, you're overreacting. If the new appointment isn't suitable - call and ask to rearrange. I think places like salons and cafés are generally doing their best- being closed and opened up at the drop of a hat, and having to rearrange months worth of pre-booked work must be a fucking nightmare - have a bit of compassion.

Kinneddar · 07/04/2021 14:05

So you've come on here slating them when you haven't even spoken to them to find out why your appointment has been changed. Nice. I.hope they see this thread and cancel your appointment completely

itsgettingwierd · 07/04/2021 14:31

Yanbu.

I could have done 14th (and can do next week) but I'd be really cross if I booked something for when I'm off work to then be changed to appointment (that in my case I couldn't make) 2 weeks later without any consideration that me (the client) could actually do the one they wanted me to have and not the one I booked.

Ds hospital appointment for today was changed to next week and I was asked to ring and confirm I could make it. I can but when they've done this before they've done a later appointment on a day to save us waiting another 2-3 months.

Judging by your attitude, I don't think your business is going to be of any great loss to them.
