Have leftovers in the fridge for the next day?

100%, they always give us too much.

MrsTerryPratchett · 04/04/2021 23:18

My house 100%

My parents' house 0%

These are people who believe one naan does 5 people.

enjoyingscience · 04/04/2021 23:19

Every time, but that’s because everyone knows day two curry is vastly superior to day one curry. The lunch the next day is the real prize (and sneakily eating cold dhal on bits of cold and slightly stale poppadom at breakfast).

threesenoughthanks · 04/04/2021 23:19

Had one tonight and there is a stack of tubs in the fridge for tomorrow's lunch Grin Pretty much always have leftovers because our eyes are bigger than our bellies and we order too much.

FixItUpChappie · 04/04/2021 23:19

100% of the time - we order a bit extra for that purpose though

rainbowthoughts · 04/04/2021 23:20

Never. We get a curry each and share a nan, so just enough for that one meal

Cuppaand2biscuits · 04/04/2021 23:20

Maybe 75% of the time. Often order extra on purpose.

Elouera · 04/04/2021 23:20

100%

We always order slightly more than the 2 of us can eat, so we DO have leftovers the next day. I've never had an occassion what we have absolutely no left overs to put in the fridge! Even when we've had friends visit!

Indian dishes here are all sauce and no meat. We order 2 curries between 3 of us and a chicken tikka starter for extra meat + 2 rice and 2 naan. All the chicken is always finished. Teen ds eats loads, no idea where he fits it all!

SatsumaFan · 04/04/2021 23:24

Thank you!! I thought my 'd' h was in the minority.

I foolishly let him order last night without checking. I ordered a chicken jalfrezi presuming I'd have my own rice, probably half a naan, poppadoms and maybe a side to share if I was lucky.

He's ordered me the curry and a rice TO SHARE, no naans, no poppadoms, no sides Sad

He'd ordered two rice between four of us (kids of 7 and 10...the latter can put away an adult portion these days when he's starving).

I was actually still hungry when I'd "finished". He just said "thought you were on a diet anyway" Shock

Not had one since Christmas and I'm still bereft 24hrs later. Tempted to do a proper job next Sat...

100% we do one rice, one naan and two mains between two people and share. There’s one portion left in the fridge and if we got saag paneer too then that would bulk it to two portions the best day.

rainbowthoughts · 04/04/2021 23:25

Meh. You asked for a chicken jalfrezi. You got one. Why did you assume all the rest? I would have taken you at your word as well.

MrsTerryPratchett · 04/04/2021 23:26

no naans

LTB not even joking.

SatsumaFan · 04/04/2021 23:27

@WeAllHaveWings wheeesht with your talk of a chicken tikka starter and 2 naans Sad

The rice came in the wee square foil containers too, not the big deep rectangular plastic ones like the Chinese. Sad times...

ColdTattyWaitingForSummer · 04/04/2021 23:28

We like dishes in the middle to share, rather than everyone ordering their own. Probably about one curry per person, one rice for every two, plus a naan? Usually have leftovers. That said the curries in my mum and dad’s area is much nicer.. good meat dishes but lots of lovely veggie sides as well, so I rarely order it here, as it’s just not the same.

SatsumaFan · 04/04/2021 23:28

@rainbowthoughts we've been together 13 years. The man knew better. He just ordered with his wallet in mind and not my well-known appetite...

@MrsTerryPratchett thank you, it's good to know I'm not alone with these thoughts...

DramaAlpaca · 04/04/2021 23:31

We always over-order deliberately to have enough for next day too.

Dear me, I hope you had words with your 'D'H. Silly man.

SatsumaFan · 04/04/2021 23:32

@ColdTattyWaitingForSummer yes, one rice between two and a naan (even between two) I could be on board with.

But basically my 10yr old scarfed almost a whole rice (shared a little with his brother who didn't like it, so I had a bit), so 7yo had to share the one small rice with me and dh Shock. Luckily the 7yo wasn't keen so tried a bit then went and got himself some bread and butter (he doesn't do takeaways anyway).

So sad not to have leftover curry for lunch today Grin

50%.

We never know how hungry we are until we start eating.

Wobbitcatcher · 04/04/2021 23:36

We ordered a Chinese last week and I purposely left myself half for lunch the next day. I was honestly so close to divorce when I found out that “D”H had binned it. I couldn’t speak to him for hours

DartmoorChef · 04/04/2021 23:39

2 of us here. 2 starters, one rice, two mains, one naan and poppadoms.

Usually a little bit left for lunch next day for 1 person

SatsumaFan · 04/04/2021 23:41

@FourWordsImMuNiTy yes! This is it. Until you start eating you're never quite sure. I reckon when I order we have leftovers aybe 50-75% of the time. Maybe 70-90% of the time. But dh is notoriously frugal and has this weird thing called portion control that I'll never understand.

@wobbitcatcher ummm.... Say what now? He binned leftover takeaway? What sacrilege is this? Definitely an LTB moment. Perhaps you should also order again next weekend...

Profiterolegirl · 04/04/2021 23:42

100%. Always order too much for one night, spreading the happiness.

SatsumaFan · 04/04/2021 23:43

@DartmoorChef that sounds perfect. We were a family of four with:

3 x curries (one was in a small container, but we weren't aware at the point of ordering).

2 x rice (one mushroom one pilau)

That was it. I ran out of carbs for my lovely curry Sad
