I have just walked 0.5 miles and I'm about to collapse

I weigh 16 stone. Do zero exercise. I am desperate to lose weight. I have just made myself go for a 10 minute walk. I walked 0.5 miles. I am breathing like an asthmatic heavy smoking whale, my back hips bum and feet are hurting and I'm sweating like a pig 🐖

That’s 0.5miles more than you would have done today otherwise! Well done Smile

Everyone's got to start somewhere. Just do it again in a day or two and try and go a little further

Restlessinthenorth · 28/03/2021 17:50

Yes but you did it!!!! That is a 100% improvement on yesterday. Congratulations on making a start. Lots of small steps is the way forwards! I will be rooting for you

PolarnOPirate · 28/03/2021 17:50

Ah we all start somewhere. I’m 16 stone too. I have today done 40 min bike intervals and the 30 Day Shred. Did an easy 6k walk yesterday. Have always regularly exercised and have done for the past 56 days straight. You can do it!!! Just work up to it, little and often. Well done!

joysmoy66 · 28/03/2021 17:51

Amazing you are making a startSmilewell done Brew

millenialblush · 28/03/2021 17:51

Well done! Now each day you can train yourself to do a little bit more. Even just doing half a mile every other day will be a massive improvement on where you are now

Cocolapew · 28/03/2021 17:51

Well done Star by this time next week you'll be going further, me and DH started walking during the first lockdown and eventually got up to 5 miles.

PolarnOPirate · 28/03/2021 17:51

Also to add, if you do want to work on your fitness, an exercise bike has been great for me. I have some joint problems probably because of my weight, so low impact like bike is better for joints.

KeyboardWorriers · 28/03/2021 17:53

You made a start! That is the main thing. And the hardest thing. Plan to do that each day, ideally at the same time, until it feels easy and routine. Then you can build from there. Smile

OverTheRainbow88 · 28/03/2021 17:54

You’ve done the hardest part.! Keep going, it will get easier

LysistrataVickers · 28/03/2021 17:55

Good for you OP. It's further than I've got today. I like making it a competition with myself and try and go a little bit further each time.

EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 28/03/2021 17:56

Good for you!!!!

Imissmoominmama · 28/03/2021 17:57

I promise you it will get easier if you do it daily.

Jaxhog · 28/03/2021 17:58

It will get better! And you'll start feeling a lot better too.

Sugarygoodness · 28/03/2021 17:58

Swap to kilometres for better 'results' Smile and keep going! You build stamina so fast, and walking is a delightful exercise.

Sansaplans · 28/03/2021 17:59

One day at a time OP. 0.5 is a great starting point ')

Fixed the first bit for you OP Star

MsRinky · 28/03/2021 18:00

That was me in August. Now I walk at least 5 miles very day, and am halfway though couch to 5k doing actual running. It's amazing how quickly strength and stamina can build, you just have to keep going.

nimbuscloud · 28/03/2021 18:01

Well done!
Now keep going- do that every day without fail.

ContessaDiPulpo · 28/03/2021 18:02

Excellent work OP Smile

picklemewalnuts · 28/03/2021 18:03

Keep it up! The same every day, until you don't find it so hard.

I'm 16 stone, too. I've just lost 3 stone. You have to keep moving!

Well done!

GrumpyHoonMain · 28/03/2021 18:04

Treat yourself to a pair of Asics with gel cushioning. It should support you to walk by making it more comfortable on your joints.

“I believe in starts. Once you have the start, the rest is inevitable.” (Joey the Lips, The Commitments!)

Well done OP, keep going and it will get easier. Today is probably the hardest you will ever find it. Get some decent trainers and go go go!

singleagain22 · 28/03/2021 18:14

Fantastic. You will be surprised at how quickly your fitness improves and you will feel so much better for it.
I suggest using a Fitbit or an app to motivate and chart your progress,

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 28/03/2021 18:15

I love the comments! Smile

Well done op, keep at it? Did you notice how long you took to be yourself again? That recovery time is worth watching and it will get quicker. Wishing you all the best! Star
