I have just walked 0.5 miles and I'm about to collapse

I weigh 16 stone. Do zero exercise. I am desperate to lose weight. I have just made myself go for a 10 minute walk. I walked 0.5 miles. I am breathing like an asthmatic heavy smoking whale, my back hips bum and feet are hurting and I'm sweating like a pig 🐖

@LudoBear lovely 😎

LudoBear · 30/03/2021 14:13

Met a lady who was out for the first time in 12 months. She has only had her deaf husband for company. Felt so good being able to chat with her.

That looks a beautiful place to walk. Glad you enjoyed yourself. You're not in West yorks by any chance are you as that photo looks like somewhere near me

LudoBear · 30/03/2021 14:31

Sadly no where near Yorkshire!

Well done. New to this thread and It is great to read that you’ve been out again and ordered a Fitbit. Take it at your own pace.

KeyboardWorriers · 30/03/2021 19:57

What a lovely lake to walk around @LudoBear ! Well done Smile keep it going.

PatchworkElmer · 30/03/2021 20:00

Well done OP!

EastofEdna · 30/03/2021 20:06

@LudoBear you probably made each other’s day. Keep going, soon you’ll be doing laps of that lake!

TurquoiseDragon · 30/03/2021 20:15

@LudoBear

That's a lovely lake.

I got my walk in my lunch break, and the weather was so lovely today.

Couldn't walk much after work, as I went to my blood donor appointment, but needed a couple of things from the shop, so managed to make my steps up with that.

Noidea2114 · 30/03/2021 20:33

Well done on getting off the sofa. Starting small is the way forward. I'm going through radiotherapy at the moment and when it's finished I want to loose weight.
I try to walk around the block for now and then I'm shattered.
Ps is that lake in Cheshire.

SophiaLarsen · 30/03/2021 20:39

Go you! Beautiful walk and great ideas around parking far from the shops etc.

Hollywhiskey · 30/03/2021 20:52

Your lake looks lovely! Well done OP what a great start. Just to warn you it can get addictive competing with yourself on the Fitbit! Enjoy x

Deathraystare · 31/03/2021 13:01

@LudoBear

Sounds like me. I am the same weight! I have not gone for a walk since Covid started and I used to go regularly. I have an over active bladder so need loos near me! No excuse though, a quick trot down to the river etc etc. I have just moved room in the tower block I am living in. Basically gone from 13th floor to 4th floor - so much better as we have a rule of one person only in lift at a time(Covid) so I have sometimes walked up and looked and felt much as you did!

I am still trying to get rid of a lung infection so am very puffed out at the moment.

Sloth66 · 31/03/2021 13:24

So many positive and encouraging posts.
Good for you, keep at it and see your fitness improve.

InteriorDesignHell · 31/03/2021 14:23

Good stuff OP, it's such a common situation, life craps repeatedly on our head and the next thing we know we've put on a gazillion stone and how did that happen?
You're not alone. This woman's story (friend-of-a-friend) inspired me, years ago, but it's a great example of how to pick yourself up when there are setbacks and push on : ypweightloss.blogspot.com

I joined a couple of exercise-every-day online groups and they really helped me make that effort and not drop the ball.

Volunteering at parkrun is good too, if you marshall at a distant point it's a nice walk out, and as you get to know people you find out quite a lot of people used to be in the same situation.

All the best 👟🚶‍♀️👣🎁

DarlingWithoutYou · 31/03/2021 20:25

@LudoBear what a great thread! I've read it all and hope you managed a walk today, too.

I'm 20 stone and feel the same. I walked for 15 mins today and couldn't breathe and was pouring with sweat. I was so embarrassed in front of my friend who walked with me.

DarlingWithoutYou · 31/03/2021 20:26

Oh and I meant to say, I arranged to meet my friend for a walk literally because of this thread, so thank you Flowers

Outbutnotoutout · 31/03/2021 20:28

👏👏👏👏👏💪💪💪💪💪
Tomorrow walk 11mins, then 12, then 13

You got this x

fizzyp0p · 31/03/2021 20:51

good, keep going. it will get easier. 0.5 miles more than zero

LudoBear · 31/03/2021 21:08

Ahh didn't think people would be replying still haha. Fitbit came at 1.30. Since then I've walked 2500 steps / 1.2 miles. I went for a walk around local park. Feeling really exhausted today though.

Frazzled2207 · 31/03/2021 21:10

Well done @LudoBear
The fitbit will help a lot.
Yes you’ll be knackered but it will pass and soon you will feel a LOT better.
Try to get to 3,000 tomorrow.

ARoseDowntown · 31/03/2021 21:17

And the best is yet to come. When you’ve reached your target you will feel invincible. You will feel that if you can do this, you can do anything.

Nothing but good can come from this. Keep going!!

aibutohavethisusername · 31/03/2021 21:22

Well done, 1.2 miles is great.

Ecci · 31/03/2021 21:24

Well done**@LudoBear**. It gets easier, just go a little bit further each day. It wii make you feel so much better. I've lost a lot of weight over the last 21 months and now I can easily walk 3 to 4 miles each day. I find having dogs helps enormously because they have to be walked every day no matter what the weather, otherwise they are a complete PITA. Keep going, you can do this.

Bomchiccawick · 31/03/2021 21:25

You’re doing fantastic OP, keep it up!
