List in this order: one thing that’s cute, one thing that’s annoying, and one thing that’s weird.
I’ll go first:

My boy kitty (3) is very vocal and likes to announce himself when he enters a room or comes in from outside. He meows as he’s walking through the house until he finds someone.

Annoying thing is he has the muddiest paws and can often sense when I’ve just changed the bed sheets and will walk all over the bed. The muddy paw prints he leaves are almost comical (almost).

Weird thing is even though he’s neutered he humps a specific type of blanket (super soft fleecy kind) and he also comes into the bathroom after I’ve showered and licks the water off my legs.

Your turn!

We have three. Our oldest is female and 6. She is LOUD and shouts at us if we arent sitting on the sofa with a particular blanket on our knee because she wants to sit on it. She is also terrible for following us if we go out for a walk. Yesterday morning she did the school run with us. She's smart as hell.

Next one is a boy. He's 4. He is the dumbest creature ever. He eats constantly. His life revolves around food. He is a total scaredy cat. The smallest one went to the vet the other week and he was terrified for days after she returned.

The smallest is female and almost a year. She is adorable. She loves the kids and is like their little shadow. She plays with everything and chirrups at bugs on the window. She's often found sitting in the bath for no apparent reason.

Arbadacarba · 25/03/2021 12:33

Boy cat:

one thing that’s cute: He chirrups to me in an amazing variety of voices

one thing that’s annoying: He has a fascination for the TV when it's on and jumps up to walk round and round it, often stepping on the sound bar and switching it off. He has no interest in it at all when switched off.

and one thing that’s weird: He has a black dot on the roof of his mouth.

Girl cat:

Cute - she has a habit of sleeping with one paw over her eyes.

Annoying - she always wants to scratch the sofa beneath where I am sitting. I don't care about the ancient sofa but the scratching noise is really grating when I am trying to relax.

Weird - really can't think of anything - she is a typical tabby!

Walesrecommendations · 25/03/2021 12:36

1: she likes to sleep under the covers with me stretched out like a little spoon.
2: she likes to sleep under the covers with me stretched out like a little spoon.

My girl is 13, a RSPCA rescue & a lovely black cat!

Cute - she welcomes you home. As soon as she hears the key in the door, she's sitting on the stairs!

Annoying although it's not her fault - she had 14 teeth removed before I got her. Now when she purrs, she drools and if she shakes her head & you're in the line of fire, it's very gross....

Weird - she loves having her tummy stroked & massaged. She'll lie there, in her own little world, purring gently & kneading with her paws. I've noticed this with other mother cats. I think she goes back to when she was suckling her litter - if I stop, she'll come to & look at her tummy, almost as though she's expecting to see her kittens.

QueenPaw · 25/03/2021 12:41

He can say mama

He doesn't have an unspoken thought in his head

He only has one tooth

Kitty yoga poses, elegantly
Not cuddly enough
Sees phantom mice in corners and jumps a mile

DowntonCrabby · 25/03/2021 12:48

Young one:
Loves to be close to your face, boop your nose and rub cheek to cheek.
Pounces on and bite at feet whether they are moving or still.
Plays fetch with tinfoil balls and bamboo sticks.

Older one:
Is just a darling, would happily be carried round like a baby all day long.
Not now but used to eat things outside and puke up entrails on the back doorstep.
Has different miaows for asking to come in the back door or the front door.

TheCactusWhackedUs · 25/03/2021 12:48

Cute: She prefers me to DH... The welcomes I have get, the little skips in the morning when she first sees me are adorable!!!
Annoying: I'm pregnant and when she wants a cuddle she can't help knead me and bump with her razor sharp claws, but another CUTE thing to add on this is when I tell her and gently move her paws she tries her best to stop and you have to this hesitant paw thing go on unless I give her my finger to wrap her kneading paws around and its just like a baby grip then ❤️
Weird: Her 'crazy hour' where her eyes are like saucers, she flings her head all over the shop and is completely playfully possessed by something 😂

pinkyboots1 · 25/03/2021 12:53

My boy Reggie came to us after being left behind purposefully when his owners moved, he's a bit dippy and doesn't always have great balance because he was shaken by head by their dog. He's much happier with us and is loved and adored.. even when he brings his moggy mates around.. he's an amazing hunter and although he's nearly 12 he's regularly 'borrowed' by people who find a mouse in the house or shed etc.
He's super quiet and chilled... a real baby x

lljkk · 25/03/2021 12:54

Cute: He loves his sleep. I've never seen any cat that loves his sleep more.

Annoying: Raucus demanding chatty meow ("where's my bed! you locked me out of the best bedroom!") etc.

Weird: Almost said nothing but... he likes chocolate. Even dark chocolate (yes I know he shouldn't eat it).

BreadmanAndCake · 25/03/2021 13:00

Cute: boy cat snuggles under the duvet and sleeps with his head on the pillow next to me. He also suckles my dressing gown.

Annoying: girl cat is a prolific hunter and brings all sorts back. In the past we have had squirrels and rabbits. She's tiny weighing only 3.2kg so god knows how she managed to drag them back to present them to us on the door step.

Weird: girl cat comes out on walks with us, trots along side us like a dog.

BreadmanAndCake · 25/03/2021 13:01

This is boy cat

zafferana · 25/03/2021 13:03

I'm loving these Grin

I have a 3-year-old tortie girl.

Cute: She likes to lounge between my arms on my desk, resting her head on my left arm. That way she can see out of the window and everything I'm doing. She is also very vocal and does this cute chattering at birds through the window.

Annoying: She's greedy as hell and anticipates meals by a good two hours, so if she's in she is very irritating, leaping up and going to 'the cupboard' every time you so much as move a muscle, meowing, winding, standing in front of my computer screen with her tail up so I can't see a thing, biting me, scratching the furniture and anything else that gets my/DS1's attention.

Weird: If you throw toys for her she'll retrieve them like a dog and bring them back for you to throw again. I've never known another cat do that.

QueenPaw · 25/03/2021 13:12

Oh and this is Paws
He is not my cat

Cute - he's just a ball of cuteness
Weird - see pic
Annoying - bangs on the window when I'm watching a horror film

QueenPaw · 25/03/2021 13:12

problembottom · 25/03/2021 13:24

Cute: He's a bit like a dog, he comes up the stairs with me to do toddler bedtime and lies by her cot waiting for her to go to sleep. He later comes up to bed with us for the night. If DP is working very late he sits on top of the stairs until he's in.

Annoying: When he was a kitten I thought it would be cute to let him drink water out of my Evian bottle, capful by capful. Six years on, he expects this every night still and he drinks a LOT of capfuls. All my fault! Won't drink out of his bloody water bowl.

Weird: When it's nice weather and we have doors open he lets other cats in to eat his food. If we go and chase a cat out he hisses and chases the cat, as if he's all tough bless im.

TotallyKerplunked · 25/03/2021 13:40

Boycat2 is 1 year old.
Cute: So demanding of attention when you've been away, whether you've been out of the house for 5 minutes or 5 days it's a noisy dribbly cuddle fest.
Annoying: He wants to be wherever the kids are and let's them manhandle and dress him and he's never retaliatiled but when the kids are in bed he attacks me instead as punishment.
Weird: He's another one that likes to lick people's legs when they get out of the shower.
Girl cats 1&2 and boy cat 1 are all elderly, generally they are over nutty cat behaviour and sleep a lot so I have a great collection of furry hot water bottles.

Tomyoneandonly · 25/03/2021 13:57

I have 1 boy cat and 1 girl cat.
Cute they both curl up and pur together.
Annoying! My girl cat will scratch anything to get my attention.
Weird they will only eat from the same bowl and drink from the same bowl. With girl mow mow always first as boy will not eat u till she has.

ilovesooty · 25/03/2021 14:39

Mine are 3 and brothers. Tolstoy is black and Tolkien is tabby and white.

Cute - Tolstoy comes to bed with me at night and purrs on my shoulder. Tolkien does head bumps in the morning.
Annoying - Tolstoy does a battle of wills in the morning and sits by the front door. He knows he has to use the back door. Tolkien brings live frogs and birds in as presents.
Cute - They both wait for me and run to me when they hear the car draw up. They both know "Dreamies" and beg.

ilovesooty · 25/03/2021 14:41

Sorry

Weird - Tolstoy sleeps upside down in his bed. Tolkien turned his nose up at a birthday offering of fillet steak. Shock

ALongHardWinter · 25/03/2021 15:26

OP,when my Dd was still living with me,our cat would go into the bathroom after Dd had had a bath or shower and lick the water off her legs! Strangely, she wouldn't do it to anyone else.
My cat is 8 years old now,we took her in as stray. She is quite demanding of attention, but is not what you'd call a cuddly cat. She has never got on anyone's lap in her entire life, and hates being picked up. She always sleeps at the end of my bed at night. She is also quite vocal and 'answers' me when I talk to her. I'll say her name and it sounds like she says 'What?' Grin
Strangest thing my cat ever caught was a bat. Shock Thankfully it was still alive and unharmed. My Dd managed to catch it in a tea towel and release it.

mamaatthegym · 25/03/2021 15:33

Some of these are really making me feel uplifted and I even had a giggle...and thank you to those who’ve included photos 😍

mamaatthegym · 25/03/2021 15:38

@ALongHardWinter that’s strange isn’t it! Mine only does it to me not OH and definitely not 15 month old DD however he tends to avoid her anyway. Mine too isn’t particularly affectionate, won’t lie on your lap etc but will lie for hours next to you on the sofa/bed wherever you are, he likes to be nearby. I’m convinced he sometimes meows “hello” or “mama” when he comes through the catflap 🤣 I can’t believe yours caught a bat! I’ve never heard of that! We get about 3-4 tiny voles a night in the summer that aren’t actually dead because he likes to play with them Confused we tried a collar on him but he went completely bald underneath the collar so he’s collarless again now!

We have a 10 month old called Colin (Colin the Bastard to OH )

He loves to climb, it hot footed it up a tree when he was only 14 weeks old. Our old cat never climbed so he took us by surprise

He's far to clever and last night ran off from me at 6.30 and would come in till gone 10

Hence the bastard bit

ApplesPearsAndCrumble · 25/03/2021 15:45

16 year old tortie.

Cute - she adores my very vulnerable 12 year old who has SEN. She cuddles him and chews his hair.

Annoying- she is very demanding and if you do not do what she wants in a manner she considers timely she stalks off giving you the 'fuck you flick' of her tail. I have discovered once when throwing her outside she can even do the fuck you flick in mid-air.

Weird - she shares the food in the outside dog food bowl with our local male fox (as I doscovered at 5 am today. I had no idea she was even outside overnight as usually she is kept in).
