Update: just taken dogs out for their bedtime wee. Sounds of someone being sick followed by panicky voices about the fact female teen guest has been sick in his Mums ‘ prizewinning’ roses ( teen boy very worried about his Mum’s reaction - having seen how much time his mother spends on the front garden display ( would rival Chatsworth) I think he is right to be concerned). Big debate about how to clear it up and suggestion that ‘unwell’ female lies down in his sisters room, sister evidently ok with the idea providing their Mother doesn’t know about the wine. Tempted to yahoo over and see if she wants a lift home, they may not enjoy middle aged woman poking her nose into their party. Have been lurking along the fence line, with the dogs wondering why their bedtime has been delayed. DH dared to suggest I was curtain twitching when I came in .... he is correct, although have not admitted it....

Oh well very end of season for roses anyway... and I don’t get out much these days Blush

Silkies · 27/03/2021 10:48

DH and DD have gone out for a walk as DD said DH needs exercise Hmm More likely she wants to have him to herself for a few hours to nag him to give her money.

Told DS about punting and the lido I booked - hadn't told him before incase he got isolations but he hasn't - he was Hmm punting, you can go without me and was Shock Shock with a lido and looked too in shock to reply. Think he was wondering why on earth I was considering outdoor swimming in early April in England at 8C. Explained there are very few activities we are allowed to do and they have to be sports based until 12 April when he's back at school Sad

I've now got my wrist casted after a trip to fracture clinic yesterday morning, colles fracture. The swelling had gone down enough.

So very quiet here today and have spent most of it in bed as I was out yesterday and that's overdoing it, which is what caused the fall in the first place

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 27/03/2021 16:39

@NotanotherboxofFrogs oh poor you! I hope it doesn't hurt too much! (Radiusfraktur I had to google)

sueelleker · 27/03/2021 17:21

We've got 3 free lavender plants! We had a delivery from Thompson&Morgan; the address was ours, but the name wasn't. When I rang them they said they'd been having problems with order picking, and said we could keep them and they'd re-send the order.

Silkies · 27/03/2021 17:22

Sorry to hear that Frogs Hope it heals soon.

DH is just planting the Christmas tree. I suddenly wondered if the tree might be triggering my asthma - DH reckoned that isn't possible but online it reckons it is and worth a try to breathe again.

Going to collect cats renal diet food from Pets at Home and have a new Henry hoover whose first job will be to hoover up the Christmas tree needles.

mathanxiety · 27/03/2021 17:33

My mum is allergic to pine and all pine products, Silkies - it's very possible that your breathing is affected.

Champagneforeveryone · 27/03/2021 18:19

Ouch frogs, poor you.

I have a fall story, and one that I feel terribly guilty about. As I was driving hone through the village I saw one of our elderly neighbours walking ahead. I was pondering how well she was walking and how I hoped I would still be as fit and active at her age when she fell over. Just like that.

She was a bit shaken but seems ok, and I did give her a lift home, but WTF?!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 27/03/2021 18:44

@Champagneforeveryone
FutureLearn has a course on 'Falls' - very interesting, if you start getting from the 'oi, watch where you are going' to the 'oh dear you had a fall' age.

DD made me watch that starkid musical.

MissConductUS · 27/03/2021 20:35

Frogs, so sorry to hear about your fall and injury. It's good that the swelling is subsiding, hopefully, it will feel better soon.

Silkies, it might be the tree or it might be spring allergies. Mine are acting up fairly badly now that everything is blooming and growing again.

Thanks for your update @Fiercestcalm. They do sound like good neighbors, but I do wonder about teenagers having a garden party. Doesn't that violate pandemic restrictions where you are? My DS just met up with one of his mates to play some basketball. The friend had just tested negative and since it was outdoors I thought that was safe enough.

@sueelleker, I'm a bit jealous of your free lavender plants. The only time something like that has happened to me is when I've done a return to Amazon for a small item and they've told me not to bother sending it back.

My lavender plants seem to have survived winter, at least they look healthy. And the hydrangea is starting.

HelenaJustina · 27/03/2021 21:13

Our French lavender tree also survived the winter, it was a gift from MiL and is by the front door so this is a good thing and nothing to do with me, plants seem to just look at me and commit suicide

Sunbird24 · 27/03/2021 22:29

My hydrangea got accidentally strummed sometime last year and doesn’t seem to have recovered. The lavatera also doesn’t look terribly happy. Buddleia’s fine though

Sunbird24 · 27/03/2021 22:29

Strimmed not strummed! Not much of a tune out of a hydrangea!

Happy Sunday, lovely people of the thread.

We had a lovely sunset last night after a beautiful warm day. The woods will look a lot nicer once they green up a bit. It's supposed to rain all day today, so DH fertilizes the lawn yesterday.

We've decided to have roast chicken for Easter dinner. DH bought a small one, as it will only be the three of us unfortunately.

Hello and good morning - Palmsonntag today and sunny.

DH planted chili, tomato and basil seeds and I woke my cacti up from their winter rest. They look fine and healthy.
I have a set of IKEA greenhouse shelves to set up, too.

Squirrel26 · 28/03/2021 14:43

My bathroom plant is dying. I don't know why, because it was specifically sold as being good for bathrooms and easy to look after and I bought it a special spray bottle for 'misting' as instructed.

I am bad at plants (or more likely I haven't bothered to put any effort in to learning about them).

Watching Six Weeks Notice, because it requires absolutely no brain power. It features a very young Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock pretending they don't fancy the pants off each other (in the film, I can't speak for real life).

Frownette · 28/03/2021 15:14

Got cabin fever quite badly but still managed to meet a deadline this weekend.

When will this end?! When will it be normal to walk free in public again?

Squirrel26 · 28/03/2021 15:20

Just realised film is actually called Two Weeks Notice, not Six. Shows how much attention I am paying it.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 28/03/2021 15:39

@Frownette - I feel for you.
DS is losing all public social skills.
Where I am they've accepted J+J vacc. for use. I hope things will speed up.

I didn't notice the blossoms on this plant and it's scattered petals everywhere.

I checked my seeds and there is a sign of germination on one of the many, many coriander seeds I soaked overnight and sowed 2-3 weeks ago. This spurred me to soak another batch of coriander seeds I have high falutin notions of getting successive crops. In other not so dull news for me but very dull and uninteresting for everyone else - my tomato (gardeners delight), chillis (Hungarian hot wax), chard and padron peppers are starting to germinate. I have done very little today and am happy with that.

Deathraystare · 28/03/2021 16:40

Decided not to go out to do some laundry as it looked windy and rather crap. Settled back to be ready for 'Monkey Life' at 2pm but thought it was only 1 pm. Did not realise clocks went forward!

Also did not realise I was supposed to be at work for 2pm! Colleague rang me up. Checked calendar and yep, should have been in. I thought I had a clear weekend off! I was going to check my diary Saturday night but didn't.

On the plus side, my ankle no longer hurts as much so I can walk fairly normally now!

HildaTablet · 28/03/2021 20:23

I couldn't sleep (again) last night, and after reading for a bit until almost 1am I decided to try and drop off again. It didn't work so after what seemed like about a quarter of an hour I glanced at my iPad again and the time suddenly said 2am. I was deeply confused for a while as I'd completely forgotten about the clocks going forward Confused

HelenaJustina · 28/03/2021 20:48

Productive weekend of boring jobs here! Bracing myself for the last push to the Easter holidays. DC2 and I are doing readings at Maundy Thursday Mass and I’m reading again on Good Friday. Need to make time to practice this week (and get to Confession!)
