I’m looking for inspiration.

Not tuna.

Corned beef?

Strangekindofwoman · 20/03/2021 13:30

Spam.

VanGoghsDog · 20/03/2021 13:30

Spam? Potted ham.

Why a tin?

Fivemoreminutes1 · 20/03/2021 13:31

Tinned salmon with cucumber

Sobloodyexhausted · 20/03/2021 13:31

Tinned sweetcorn on toast is yummy,

TheBusiness · 20/03/2021 13:33

I haven’t got anything fresh for a sandwich in the fridge. No ham or anything. I could boil an egg.

I love corned beef and tinned salmon.

Tinned mackerel mixed with a little horseradish sauce. I add watercress and slices of tomato.

PinkPlantCase · 20/03/2021 13:35

Mash up some chickpeas?

We quite often hard boil some eggs at the start of the week and have egg mayo sandwiches

Fivemoreminutes1 · 20/03/2021 13:36

Do you have any jars of gherkins? I eat them with mustard and mayo.

AdoraBell · 20/03/2021 13:38

Tinned mackerel with black pepper.

Tinned salmon with anything like salad, veg, ketchup / mayonnaise at a pinch.

Tinned veg in a toasted sandwich.

Scarby9 · 20/03/2021 13:38

Tuna ( I know, but it would be my no.1 choice)
Mackerel
Sardines
That's it from tins, and the second two are way behind the first.
What about a jar? That widens your choice.

RosesAndHellebores · 20/03/2021 13:40

Sorry OP but is this a riddle? The sandwich is made and in a tin? I'm not sure where to begin?

AdoraBell · 20/03/2021 13:42

I would do scrambled eggs on toast then TheBusiness

VienneseWhirligig · 20/03/2021 13:44

Tinned mackerel
Pilchards (I don't like this but DS does)
Corned beef

Baked beans on toast?

ForeverBubblegum · 20/03/2021 13:47

If you're asking because you don't have fresh stuff in and want a sandwich, surely the place to start is to look what tins are in the cupboard

LubaLuca · 20/03/2021 14:11

Evaporated milk.

I don't quite understand what the puzzle is. You know what comes in a tin, you know what you like to eat. Choose something from the options Confused

insancerre · 20/03/2021 14:13

Does it have to be a sandwich?
Can’t you have toast or soup?

TheBusiness · 20/03/2021 14:16

It’s not a puzzle, it’s a chat!

Wondering what people put in a sandwich to get some ideas. I had tinned salmon, mayo and cucumber in brown bread and it was very nice Smile.

Grin yep. If you have to go out and buy a tin of something we recommend you may as well buy something fresh. What have you got in your cupboard?

BarbaraofSeville · 20/03/2021 14:18

@ForeverBubblegum

This. Surely you'd be better looking at the tins in your cupboard and seeing if there's anything suitable for sandwiches, rather than having people guess blind.

Or have eggs, boil for 10 mins, cool in water for a few mins, open up and chop finely and leave uncovered a bit longer if they need further cooling and they'll be ready in no time. Or do you have any prawns in the freezer?

RosesAndHellebores · 20/03/2021 14:24

But op you said what do you put in a sandwich from a tin. Meaning the sandwich was made and in a tin.

Perhaps you meant what filling from a tin would you put in a sandwich?

My answer to that would have been salmon as you said not tuna. Personally I would not eat tinned meat.

mawbroon · 20/03/2021 14:45

Chicken in white sauce (used to be called chunky chicken)
Hot dogs which you have kept warm in a food flask
Meatloaf of sorts. I love A&B roll

drinkplease · 20/03/2021 14:54

Condensed milk

Breathmiller · 20/03/2021 15:20

Can it be jars as they are in the cupboard and don't need to be fresh?
If so I'd have crunchy peanut butter.
There's also a lovely vegan pate in a tin that i like, and often have it in the store cupboard for when there's nothing fresh. But i might have it on toast or oatcakes rather than bread.

Thinking about it, there's not a huge amount that's vegan or even veggie that fulfills your criteria. There's a few meat and fish options but not so many if you don't want these options.

So all i can think of off the top of my head from the store cupboard are...

Peanut butter
Jam
VG pate (tin or tube)
Vegemite

And none of these are massively inspiring

Then there are things I'd have hot on toast - beans. Or, I used to love creamed sweetcorn many moons ago but I realise these are not sandwich ideas.
