Lee Hurst Tweet - What a vile little man

Hi,

Google if you haven't already seen it. Absolutely disgusting.

On what level is this funny? What section of society would be anything other than repulsed by a comment like this? Ah yes, the moronic misogynists.

Oh well, at least you know your audience, Lee.

What a tosser.

According to comments made by Hurst on his Twitter account in 2014, he is a supporter of the UK Independence Party. He is a supporter of Brexit

Very confusing

I did say you didn't really need to look it up Grin

noirchatsdeux · 20/03/2021 17:14

@BRITISHisBEST...no, it's not. And fuck off. You can't take offence at that, remember?

scaredsadandstuck · 20/03/2021 17:15

@BRITISHisBEST

Good job no one on here remembers the 70's comedians when people didn't take offence to anything and everything!
Hi Lee
FemaleAndLearning · 20/03/2021 17:19

As a child growing up in the 70s I felt deeply uncomfortable with comedy. Back then I didn't have a name for those feelings but I know what they are now.

WhereYouLeftIt · 20/03/2021 17:22

Hurst certainly seems to be trying to be noticed. Didn't he sign a letter recently against schoolchildren in masks? And boast of going maskless himself?

I am reminded of a small child misbehaving because any attention, even being ticked off, is better than being ignored. To the naughty step with you, Hurst, and there you shall stay until you learn to play nice with the other children.

NiceGerbil · 20/03/2021 17:24

Oh if that is the man himself.

You're a creepy wanker. A literal wanker I'm sure.

I find it so interesting that when inadequate men feel threatened by/ dislike a woman/ girl... They always start on about sex. Them getting fucked by a man/ no one would want to fuck you etc.

Shows how they feel about a lot of things.

DGRossetti · 20/03/2021 17:24

The 1970s was why alternative comedy had to be invented.

I remember them very well. And I found them just as offensive then as I do now.

@TangerineCandyfloss

Last time I checked, although it appears you can't now, the comment got 1300 plus likes 🤨
Probably a mere fraction of the repulsive incels out there.
LemonMeringueThreePointOneFour · 20/03/2021 17:39

From his Wikipedia entry:

Lee Hurts (born 16 October 1962) is an English "comedian".

He was on at my local theatre once and I'd thought about going, as I only knew of him as a quite amusing panellist on They Think it's all Over. I think I assumed he was left wing! Very glad I didn't go.

WhereYouLeftIt · 20/03/2021 17:42

Ah yes, the seventies - AKA 'the decade that taste forgot'. I remember it well, my teenage years.

'On the Buses' with Reg Verney and Bob Grant, two singularly unattractive forty/fifty-somethings chasing twenty-something women and getting them (only because it's in the script, boys). And the butt of the joke being Varney's on-screen sister 'Olive'.

That would be right up Hurst's street.

FlyingNorth · 20/03/2021 17:45

Candy I suspect those comments are from BiB or his mates. Okay, maybe just from BiB.

Oh yes! Hadn't thought of that!! 😁

Wonderful examples of the tolerance and diversity you'd expect from an Empire that girdled the Earth.

@FoxyTheFox

Considering BRITISHisBEST appears to have joined MN specifically to post that comment and that the comment is very similar to shit responses tweeted by the man himself, I think it might be a fair bet that Lee has discovered Mumsnet 🤔
You beat me to it Grin
TheSockMonster · 20/03/2021 17:54

Misogyny aside, it’s a very odd tweet generally.

It doesn’t work as a stand alone joke, and doesn’t seem to be in response to anything topical or current or anything anyone has said Confused

I mean, when was the last time you heard Greta mention single use plastics? 2019??

Has he been thinking up this joke all that time?

Moving back to the misogyny I was reminded of a quote from this article that discussed men’s curiously strong reactions to Greta. I’ll be honest, I’m not her biggest fan, but something about her makes certain men disproportionately angry and this seemed to be a factor...

clearly, men have not seen young women being represented in the media in a non-sexualised way for a long time

Sockmonster I think that's exactly it. A certain type of man feels the need (and feels entitled to) give their opinion particularly on young women when they reach the age of consent. Greta has failed to conform so they react by belittling/harassing her. It brings to mind the stuff that was published when Charlotte Church and Emma Watson turned 16. EnvyAngry

TheSockMonster · 20/03/2021 18:18

Exactly FlyingNorth. She’s a young woman who refuses to play one of the acceptable Young Woman roles (as far as I can tell, the available roles are ingenue or porn slut)

NiceGerbil · 20/03/2021 18:20

TBF he did wait till she was 18.

Things were so much better back in the day when 16yo got their tits out on page 3.

FoxyTheFox · 20/03/2021 18:22

It plays into the tired old trope that any women who doesn't sit down and shut up, like a good little female, can be immediately fixed by a good shag. Angry woman? Needs a shag. Sad woman? Needs a shag. Opinionated woman? Needs a shag. Good looking woman? Needs a shag. Unattractive (by their standards) woman? Needs a pity shag.

It all feeds back to the notion some men have that The Almighty Cock is the solution to all life's problems, rather than the cause.

Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel · 20/03/2021 18:32

Ugh , such an ugly not even funny little potato head " man"

YoniAndGuy · 20/03/2021 18:35

Well done Lee!

So many folk who had absolutely no idea what a massive steaming bellend you were... well no more of that, the greatBRITISHpublic (as you would quite possibly spell it) are thus enlightened.

Grin
TangerineCandyfloss · 20/03/2021 18:37

@TheSockMonster, this is exactly right. It doesn't compute in their tiny, sexist brains, that a now, woman, can be in the public eye and not be sexualised.
