Just started tidying up and found a saltire card issued by my local council; googled and it's a travel card/ bus pass. It was sitting face down next to a storage box. I've had a look round the house, checked for missing stuff and locked the door.

I do have dc, primary school but they go to school on the bus (rural) and come back again. Can't think where they could of picked it up. Maybe they found it a long time ago and it's been played with and dropped. We drive everywhere though and it's no one I know.

Any ideas as to how it made it into the house?

I would think one of the kids picked it up from the bus and it's fallen out of a bag or coat pocket.

womaninatightspot · 16/03/2021 10:32

It's not that kind of bus they go on they're on a private minibus provided by the council. its not being used apart from the school run, I know all the parents of the other children on the bus it's not one of them.

Coats and bags dumped in utility so would of had to be carried in through kitchen to be dropped in the hall...

No idea... I found a silver charm in my bedroom last week....
Never seen it in my life!

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 16/03/2021 10:34

Found at school? Does it matter? If the card is still valid, contact the issuer.

lurker101 · 16/03/2021 10:35

It’s highly likely to be nothing and picked up by the kids from somewhere.
But Is it the sort of storage box someone might think valuables would be hidden in? I would report it to your local police online as found, in case the owner is an individual known to them..... and assess your home security for any weak points just in case.

womaninatightspot · 16/03/2021 10:36

I suppose my concern is that someone has been in the house without my knowledge.

Do you have a dh?

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 16/03/2021 10:38

Does it have a name on it or a photo?

womaninatightspot · 16/03/2021 10:38

Nope all alone in the middle of nowhere

Name and photo. I've taken a photo and emailed it to myself. I'm sure it's nothing but I feel twitchy now.

Maybe someone found it on the street and posted it through the nearest letterbox?

DavidsSchitt · 16/03/2021 10:41

Well at least you know who's been in!

The kids will have picked it up somewhere or had it stuck to a shoe

Strangekindofwoman · 16/03/2021 10:42

I wouldn't assume it was a stupid burglar who has left a massive clue.

womaninatightspot · 16/03/2021 10:47

My letterbox is 300 metres away at the foot of the drive. There a ren't any streets for about 8 miles. Which is the same distance to my local bus stop!

Loopyloututu2 · 16/03/2021 10:48

Google the name!

womaninatightspot · 16/03/2021 10:50

I did it's a really common name (Daniel Johnson) so nothing there. It's so common I don't think it makes any difference if I post it here

OP posts:
Loopyloututu2 · 16/03/2021 10:50

If your dc’s know nothing about it, I wouldn’t think there’s any harm in taking it into your local police station with your concerns. I don’t think they will assume you’re being overzealous - you are a single mum in a remote area with young dc’s.

HollowTalk · 16/03/2021 10:52

That's really weird. I think I'd speak to your local police station - if this is a person with a criminal history then there's obviously something to worry about.

womaninatightspot · 16/03/2021 10:52

They're at school just now. I'll ask them about it when they get back. It's just so random though.

Fallen out of a library book (bookmark)? Placed in a bookbag in error. Fallen into a shopping bag? I found a US driving license once which I think fell out of a library book.

PerfectlyImperfectx · 16/03/2021 10:55

That is strange but I don’t think it’s anything to worry about. I found an SD micro card in my hallway last week a couple of hours after I’d hoovered Confused No idea how it got there. I’ve never owned one and I haven’t checked if there’s anything on it

womaninatightspot · 16/03/2021 10:56

Not been to the library in forever; are they open yet? Layout of the house means we come in utility, then kitchen so shopping/ bags/ coats don't come into the hall. The card would have to of been brought through the house on it's own if that makes sense.

OP posts:
womaninatightspot · 16/03/2021 10:57

Ooh I'd check the SD card, just out of curiousity.

I'm waiting for someone to come along and tell you that someone is definitely living in your loft (they aren't, that's batshit but I've been told that twice on this site now for things I can't explain).

BobGalaxy · 16/03/2021 11:00

I would assume the council school bus is used for other journeys and one of the dcs has picked it up from there after it was left behind
