Just started tidying up and found a saltire card issued by my local council; googled and it's a travel card/ bus pass. It was sitting face down next to a storage box. I've had a look round the house, checked for missing stuff and locked the door.

I do have dc, primary school but they go to school on the bus (rural) and come back again. Can't think where they could of picked it up. Maybe they found it a long time ago and it's been played with and dropped. We drive everywhere though and it's no one I know.

Any ideas as to how it made it into the house?

Definitely no one in the loft. It's room in roof here, so the bedrooms are in the eaves, loft is tiny strip, just the cold water/ header tank up there.

It's not used for other journeys, private company have the contract (lucrative apparently) and in term times the bus isn't used for anything else. The driver is semi retired and keeps it parked outside his house all the time unless he's on the school run.

Joys of rural living!

I was in a ground floor flat and one poster still insisted someone was in my loft and even PMd me to see if I'd call the police to check up there yet Grin

This thread would be prime for that sort of batshittery!

I once found someone else's driving licence card in my kitchen. It had been in a bag I got from a charity shop (worked it out when I found the card owner on the local fb group).

Regularsizedrudy · 16/03/2021 11:40

Why would some one come into your house and do nothing but drop a card on the floor? I think you need a bit more mental stimulation

Cattitudes · 16/03/2021 11:49

Oh no I was going to suggest someone living in your loft but beaten to it. Do you have a cellar? Grin

NeedCoffeeToSurvive · 16/03/2021 11:55

Have you had any deliveries recently and it could belong to a delivery driver? Maybe it got stuck to a package and fell off.
Or do you have a cat? They bring all kinds of strange things indoors.

Many years ago, we found a photo of a dog, on our stairs. Definitely not our dog, or a dog we recognised.

To this day we have no idea where it came from, or whose dog it was!

We still have the photo though - no idea why we kept it!

FlyingBurrito · 16/03/2021 11:56

Is the card still in date and do you have a partner who might have brought it into the house?

2bazookas · 16/03/2021 12:14

Your husband is having an affair with an old age pensioner?

Bells3032 · 16/03/2021 12:22

the most likely explanation is probably the correct one. my guess is it was stuck in a kids text book so something to that degree. i wouldn't think anything too sinister of it

SD micro card, memory sticks etc are sometimes temptingly dropped to infect your phone, tablet or PC with spyware.

this is much more likely to be done if you are in a nuclear research facility, or a place that is occupied by foreign forces wanting to keep tabs on the local populalation.

Takeitonthechin · 16/03/2021 12:29

@Easterbunnygettingready do you live by yourself, with your husband/partner/ boyfriend or with your family?

Obviouspretzel · 16/03/2021 12:35

According to string theory, there are 11 spatial dimensions, only 3 of which we can experience or envisage. The others are hidden in some way, curled up within the 3d visual world.

This has clearly somehow transcended dimensions and ended up in this one. The person may exist in those dimensions in your same space, but be unknown to you. Have you looked up the person online ? If you can't find them, that is definitely the explanation.

I was once clearing out my drawers and found someone else's debit card!! Absolutely no one else could have put it there but I have NEVER seen it before - it was at the bottom of my drawer with skincare and beauty bits in it. Still no idea how it got there

Roszie · 16/03/2021 13:14

One of the kids will have found it.

picklemewalnuts · 16/03/2021 13:16

Is it in date? Or older?

Easterbunnygettingready · 16/03/2021 13:18

Dh and dc. Bedroom is a no dc zone... And it was in a rug I stand on when I get up and go to bed.... I have been home for weeks. Dh hasn't.. No secret woman been in!!

womaninatightspot · 16/03/2021 13:47

No husband and going by the photo the bloke is younger than me :)

It's in date and expires in December.

I do have a cat, no cat flap though as he'd like to bring furry dead things in to dismember. I'd have spotted if he had a buspass :)

You have his photo, have you found him on social media, you'd think he would have some idea of where he lost it or had it stolen which would give you some clues
womaninatightspot · 16/03/2021 15:07

Such a common name. I think I could be looking for ages and I'm too lazy. I'll stick to speculating on t'internet!

Other than your food shopping what has come into the house during lockdown?

With there being very few other places open you might remember anything that's come in eg. new furniture, and it could have somehow come in with that

Or have you had anyone in the house? eg.electrician, gas engineer

DIshedUp · 16/03/2021 15:11

Probably bought in on the bottom of someone's shoe or a shopping bag or something like that. Or it blew into the house once when you opened the door

Or yes maybe a delivery driver. Id be a googling tbh but I'm nosey Grin

I just snorted with laughter at that!

Love the idea of what a cat with a bus pass could be getting up to behind his owner's back

SooMoony · 16/03/2021 15:13

I would post a photo of it on social media and wait for someone to identify the man, or the man himself to contact you. It's not a spooky event and is easily explained, but if you'd prefer to think there's a sinister explanation, carry on Grin

What's that saying? If you hear hooves, think horses, not zebras.
