I forgot to say we got married in April 2015.
For me it was never a choice because I'd always known exactly what flowers I wanted. It had to be all red roses. All the flowers were what I'd always wanted

Topseyt · 16/03/2021 01:23

I've no idea. I just gave a budget to the florist and left her to get on with it.

That was 28 years ago. Flowers and horticultural stuff were never my forté.

I had Peach coloured roses, Cream Lilies, and hoops of fine seed pearls to.match my Head dress, all set with fairly dark Green leaves and fine Ribbons. It went well with my Fifties length Cream Silk and Lace dress, by Ronald Joyce. I was 6 weeks Pregnant at the time!

Pink and white avalanche roses, margaret merril toses as they have special meaning, white fresia, stephanotis, white singapore orchids, trailing ivy and tosemary for rememberance. It was a floor length wired bouquet (very heavy).
I don't have very good pics handy. one is for colour, one for a size idea.
Let us know what you decide on in the end!

Red roses because my DH is from Lancashire with eucalyptus leaves because I’m Australian. We got married in Australia in April 2005.

Best sort a card out soon, eh...

RampantIvy · 16/03/2021 06:23

I can't remember, but it was 40 years ago in July.

MinnieMountain · 16/03/2021 06:24

Sweet peas in early June. DH’s aunt grew most of them. She even made sugar sweet peas for our cake.

Yellow and purple gerberas, and sunflowers. (I think the bridesmaids may have had cream gerberas in theirs too). The colour scheme was yellow and purple.

Dahlias in September

WalkingMeAway · 16/03/2021 07:11

First - Roses in Winter (red)
Second - Roses, Peonies and foliage (blush pink)

PointeShoesandTutus · 16/03/2021 07:13

Early June - I had roses, peonies, sweet peas, nigella, wax flowers, hydrangeas, lisianthus and spray roses. Loved my flowers.

VenusClapTrap · 16/03/2021 07:18

I’m loving this thread

Winter wedding, calla lilly.,

November wedding in a register office - bouquet of 12 yellow roses with babies breath (think my mum picked it up from M&S that morning!)

clary · 16/03/2021 07:30

I love this thread! @Tinuviel I had purple and yellow for an April wedding too.

My bouquet was huge, yellow roses, purple lisianthus, eucalyptus, cream gerbera...I had buds of the same flowers in my hair. My flowers (and the amazing ones in the church) were the best thing at the wedding. Will try to find a pic that shows them.

I love the flowers here and I think @VenusClapTrap may be my fave.

Late May, cream roses and cornflower

I wanted lily of the valley but the stem is soft and the price was high as each stem needed to be stabilised with wire to keep them upright in a. larger posy.

minniemoocher · 16/03/2021 07:38

White roses with purple flowers (no idea what) just gave a budget), table decs were pot plants from Homebase.

BabyMoonPie · 16/03/2021 07:44

Married in June with these gorgeous roses

I got married on the same day as someone else in my church so we shared costs on flowers and I let her choose! Roses mainly, very nice so I think it was a bargain!

BikeRunSki · 16/03/2021 07:53

End of April. No big arrangements due to hay fever prevalent in both families, including the groom!
The men wore white rose buttonholes. They could chose real or silk, depending on allergies. I carried a small bouquet of white roses, irises, ox eye daisies and allysum. The irises were my “something blue”. I wanted cornflowers, but it was too early in the year.

CaribouCarafe · 16/03/2021 07:53

Oh and for the centerpieces on each table, we bought 12 potted roses for each table (from IKEA) which guests could take home with them. Worked out a lot cheaper than a florist! We also had a wedding arch with fake roses in it.

Thedot90 · 16/03/2021 08:00

Make the most of peony season! I was a June wedding and had peonies and roses, they were gorgeous.

eclipsechips · 16/03/2021 08:02

I was a mid September wedding, this was my bouquet, my bridesmaids bouquets and buttonholes and corsage x

I got married 36 years ago in august. I had pink roses and gypsophila in a round posy. They were perfect.

aintnocoffeebigenough · 16/03/2021 08:08

Wow thank you so much everyone for sharing, what a lovely thread Grin I love them all so much and it’s given me lots of ideas! Keep them coming if anyone else would like to share Smile What a lovely happy thread!

Would anyone mind sharing roughly what their flower budget was and what they got for it? Sorry if that’s cheeky to ask! We are trying to do the whole thing at a very low cost and I have no idea which flowers are cheaper or more expensive. I bloody love peonies but apparently they cost a fortune, is that right?
