Meg and Harry supporting race and mental health charities in UK

Brilliant to hear this. They have approached three charities in UK including Mind and a charity to increase diversity in the media and press.

Great, doing good based on their experiences.

OP posts:

Assuming that’s what it is of course, not just people having views different from your own. Harry is white of course.

Marmaladeagain · 18/03/2021 12:27

don't mention Harry's a racist - he's a reformed racist and the only known and confirmed racist in the RF. Shhhhs they might have to wipe their spectacles - they like the blurry vision they view the world with.

Roussette · 18/03/2021 12:34

Hmmm... the number of times I personally have been questioned as to why I'm here, am I a paid shill, do I work for someone somewhere, am I Doria blah blah, along with a lot of other pathetic and rude accusations,.... you rarely find those who don't intensely dislike H&M doing this in reverse.

The accusations tend to be when detractors are unable to dispute certain points, so they predictabtly throw out 'Is that you Meg?. Hello Doria. Funny how you know so much. Why are you defending them. Who do you work for blah blah.

If we are supposed to have a 'peculiar love-in', can we say you have a 'peculiar hate campaign'?

Wildswim · 18/03/2021 12:36

@sluj

If they are supporting as private individuals why are they "announcing" it on their website? I think they are struggling to realise they don't really have a place anymore and should just donate anonymously like the rest of us.
This.
MiaowMiaow99 · 18/03/2021 12:37

I like keeping the tread alive and stopping it dropping off as it's just not going the way the OP wanted......

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 18/03/2021 12:41

I know I don't need to explain myself but if someone asks the question 🤷‍♀️
It is amazing that people can be so blinkered to the truth. Even when plenty of evidence is just a Google away. Let alone the condemnation of a whole family on the word of two people that have a dodgy track record. The heart wants what the heart wants I suppose.

As someone of South Asian origin who grew up in a British city in the 1970s and 80s, I agree. I've never liked him since he called his colleague a p*ki. Only an actual racist would use that word.

But feel free to call me a racist for not liking H&M.

Roussette · 18/03/2021 12:46

t is amazing that people can be so blinkered to the truth

Your version of the 'truth'. Which isn't the same as everyone else's.

Marmaladeagain · 18/03/2021 12:48

Hate? I’m not calling others racists and bigots for not agreeing with them. You might need a new dictionary there, clearly has hate and kindness mixed up.

Roussette · 18/03/2021 12:53

Fine.
Refrain from calling it a 'love-in' then. Nothing could be further from the truth.
They have done some stupid things, they don't help themselves at times. But they do not deserve a lot of the vile press they have received and the continual ridiculously pathetic accusations thrown at them. That is not 'a love -in' or 'blurry vision' or 'not being able to see'. It's feeling that at times they have been unfairly treated

Roussette · 18/03/2021 12:54

And I have not called anyone a racist. I'm sick of saying this.

I think some posts have racist undertones but I have never singled you out. Ever.

RickiTarr · 18/03/2021 12:55

Thank you @GCAcademic for clarifying that a bit with an actual British Asian perspective. I’ve been slightly conflicted about it, but just couldn’t forget or excuse him doing that. It’s not something you can just wave away.

Maybe it even explains why MM has to repeatedly insist she didn’t know much about Harry and never googled him?

I’m really having trouble getting off the fence with this whole affair, because there seems to be so much conflicting information and behaviour.

katy1213 · 18/03/2021 12:59

I'm not sure they're an asset to any charity. I'd have more respect for the charity that said, thanks, but no thanks.
Charities that deal with real mental health issues don't need this pair of drama queens leeching off them for publicity when it suits them.

MummyJ12 · 18/03/2021 13:01

@Roussette

To be fair, Roussette hasn’t. It was another poster who comes across as a little more extreme in their views. This thread is becoming so divisive. I think sometimes people need to agree to disagree. Even though it can be frustrating!
Roussette · 18/03/2021 13:04

Thaqnks MummyJ12 and yes... at times I do think we have to agree to disagree
whilst maybe not talking of them leeching off of charities. That's an awful thing to say

RickiTarr · 18/03/2021 13:08

The lastest from their new voice box Gayle king. Apparently the poor innocent darling never met to label the family racist at all (Yeh right. They have realised that the general public are pissed off and now they are playing victim again and back peddling)

Sorry, just reading to catch up and had not seen or heard this. That does strain credulity to breaking point.

I am actually very shocked that they’re not spinning this with more subtlety, since they have obviously been planning this “speaking their truth” thing for a while and clearly have a lot of PR help on board.

Whatever legitimate criticisms might or might not be made of the royal family, I think it’s blindingly obvious by now that there is a lot of ego at play in the Sussex household.

To say they didn’t mean to label the BRF racist is such a blatant whopper.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 18/03/2021 13:11

I wonder if they saw the interview final cut before it went out? There’s always the ‘get out’ If saying it took thinks out of context. Of course that would burn bridges with Oprah .

RickiTarr · 18/03/2021 13:11

@Roussette

If you think “leeching off” or exploiting charities for your own reasons is in any sense a rare event in the world of charities & fundraising, then you just haven’t seen enough of that sector @Roussette

It’s so commonplace, that to name it is fine. Very honest and astute observation. The only question is whether it applies in this case.

Marmaladeagain · 18/03/2021 13:18

But you assume I’m speaking to you, which I’m not.

Been on some other threads with some posters on this thread and bit more of backstory of me being called racist and bigot by various contributors, but at the same time refusing to acknowledge H’s known racist history.

Unlike my history, which is not littered with racial slurs, Harry has revealed his inner thinking. Not sure why anyone should believe he is now different. I can accept clumsy phrasing, but outright use of racist slurs I’m afraid reveal too much, I’m not buying Harry changed.

As I say, not to you as such, you may not know the context of previous threads. I’ve been polite despite being told that I am am an ‘unintelligent’ ‘bigot’ and racist and other similar ‘kind’ accusations for not agreeing with their view.

This is a much, much bigger story than H&M. It is also about freedom of speech and being able to say I don’t agree with someone.

The reductive people don’t see any bigger picture.

I shall push back against that and say it is not for them to shut down debate on issues by declaring some things are out of bounds for discussion.

Can’t help that some don’t see wider implications and think it’s racism and hate to say H&M were always going to be moving sideways and quickly downwards and out of main picture as William’s children grow. It is appalling to say that is because of racism rather than looking at history and current affairs and seeing the reality.

Roussette · 18/03/2021 13:24

Marmalade You responded to me at 12.48 saying exactly that. Here is what you said... in response to me about love in versus hate campaign. There is no post after mine you could be responding to.

'Hate? I’m not calling others racists and bigots for not agreeing with them. You might need a new dictionary there, clearly has hate and kindness mixed up'

Now you say you weren't talking to me??? Who then?

Marmaladeagain · 18/03/2021 13:26

Roosters that’s to you , I’ve tried to correct that spelling on my phone too many times now that I’ve given up!! hopefully you can work out name

Roussette · 18/03/2021 13:29

Now I'm laughing!

Can I be called 'Roosters' FOREVER 😂🤣🤣

Bloody phones lol

Ok I get your point, we'll just forget it...thanks for the long post and believe me, if I was to type out all the names I'd been called in the last year or so, I'd be here all afternoon!

Smile
Marmaladeagain · 18/03/2021 13:31

Sorry I don’t read everyone’s name that I’m responding to so just a thread response really.

You credit me with too much, I’m not particularly recalling what you may have previously posted and haven’t really noticed your overall view. Some posters I know their view and may have muddled you, but not speaking to you directly as such.

Marmaladeagain · 18/03/2021 13:32

Yes I quite like roosters - potatoes aren’t they?!? And chickens of course ?!! Glad you liked it as I did try a good number of times to get it right 😀👍

SozzledSausage · 18/03/2021 13:33

So where exactly is all this evidence of palace leaks?

There's an awful lot of hot air on this thread.
