F1 2021 and we have a Schumacher on the grid again

In the absence of a F1 forum I'd like to chat about all things F1 Grand Prix.

How will the season go? How will the newest Schumacher fare ?

I can't wait for the first race.

Well that's me finished with F1. What a bloody joke. Have a 12 second lead before the crash and Max having to pass 4 cars to get behind Lewis then after Horner says to the race director we only need one lap, that's exactly what he gets! As he just ignored the rules totally it's tempting to say fix.

He could have said nothing at all @DirectionToPerfection, IMO I think it's good that he expressed his feelings.

I didn't know AN had had a bike accident @ohfourfoxache, he seemed a bit fragile, so that would explain it. I remember him from way back too.

Maybe they'll use the off season to rewrite the whole of the F1 rules. Fans can send new ones in and they can pick one out of the hat during the race if it's all getting a bit processional?

I can’t see that the Race Director can just decide to tweak the rules.
I think they do need to implement new guidance that Team principles cannot try and influence the stewards or the RD (or try and negotiate an outcome, eg last week in Saudi).

Either you have rules, or you don’t. Mercedes were robbed of a properly won 14s lead by rules being broken. Unacceptable.

If (and it's a very big if) it's not allowed to stand, the result will be voided and Max wins the championship anyway. He was already ahead on race wins going into today.

Christian Horner asked for a "miracle" and lo and behold. This was out and out cheating and makes a mockery of the whole thing. And I say that as someone who is not a huge Lewis fan!

It was a thrilling ending. Its good for the sport.

No it wasn't! It was a thrilling race for sure utterly let down by a muddled stewarding right at the very end . Thousands of people, who don't normally watch F1, will have watched this race and will be wondering how on earth that made sense.

No true sportsman would be content to win under those circumstances and it will always be a blight on Max's first ever championship, that the FIA 'let' him win it.

I just don’t understand how you can be 12 seconds ahead and then someone else crashes, the safety car comes out and you completely lose any advantage when you aren’t involved in the crash. It’s madness.

Max should be ashamed and embarrassed over this win. If he had won fair and square I'd have been happy for him but the last lap of this race has made F1 a complete joke.

To be fair, it's not Max's fault. But I'd hate to win in these circumstances. From what I've read from him, however, he doesn't care how he wins, as long as a win is what he gets. And that's one reason I don't like him.

I turned it on on lap 55. I haven't watched a grand prix this season. Not for years in fact. My takeaway is that there's a big book of rules which have not been properly applied.

The rules say all cars unlap themselves are none do. In a bid to end the most anticipated and crucial race of the season under exciting racing conditions the race director applied half of the rule.

Horner and other principals should not be able to lobby the race director mid race. 'We just need one lap'.

It was exciting to watch but it certainly won't make me think it's a sport worth getting into as I like to know what the rules are and to see them fairly applied.

That's what happens under a safety car, it's not new.

Ooooh - that is very interesting footage about Max overtaking under safety car.
He was clearly alongside Lewis.
