F1 2021 and we have a Schumacher on the grid again

In the absence of a F1 forum I'd like to chat about all things F1 Grand Prix.

How will the season go? How will the newest Schumacher fare ?

I can't wait for the first race.

'Racing gods' my arse Christian Hmm

Swirlywoo · 12/12/2021 15:09

I am not a huge fan of either driver, I just enjoy F1, I would have felt the same if Lewis (or any other driver) had won under those circumstances. So it's not a case of 'sore losers'.

Yep, me too.

But having studied the behaviour of both drivers during these last two races then LH wins it for me.

Anyone else remember a safety car in Singapore a few years ago….Alonso had a spectacular win

Who was the chap that crashed again; Piquet Jr wasn’t it?

Gosh, and Max is dating Piquet’s sister!

I’m 💩 stirring of course, but it does seem to have been a stroke of fortune that the safety car essentially decided the championship

MaryStuart · 12/12/2021 15:13

I assumed it was Piquet’s daughter.

ChequerBoard · 12/12/2021 15:13

Oh god and here's Geri....

HannibalHayeski · 12/12/2021 15:13

Rules is rules.

Unless, apparently you just want to change them as and when you want to. I don't think even Ecclestone would have done that...

Never misses an opportunity.

Aaargh GH has turned up how embarrassing. She said 'they have the best team Principal' and is staring lovingly at him. Bleurgh.

Race aside is there ANYONE who didn't groan when Geri showed up?

Oh god and here's Geri....
I was just coming on to say we’ve got the spice girls together now…Ginger and Whinger
ChequerBoard · 12/12/2021 15:15

@RedToothBrush no, no that point I think we can all agree.

Geri - uniting opposing fans with her bloody irritating presence...

Sparklingbrook · 12/12/2021 15:16

What would Red Bull have done with all these 'World Champion' sweatshirts and T shirts they had printed had they lost? Confused

ohfourfoxache · 12/12/2021 15:17

@MaryStuart Piquet Snr’s daughter; Nelson Piquet Jr’s sister

ChequerBoard · 12/12/2021 15:18

Also irrational irritated by Horner thanking the 'wives and girlfriends'. Surely partners would be more appropriate.

Send Toto a tweet and he'll give you an answer.

I didn't recognise Adrian Newey. Is he well?

givethatbabyaname · 12/12/2021 15:19

I agree that if it had been the other way around, Masi would have made the same call probably.

But that just makes this all more disappointing. It’s about F1, TV rights, and exciting game, growing fans. It’s less about the sport of motor racing.

Sparklingbrook · 12/12/2021 15:21

I'm looking forward to next year. See what Russell can do, and if any of the teams near the bottom can make some headway.

ohfourfoxache · 12/12/2021 15:24

Didn’t recognise Adrian Newey either

He had a bike accident over the summer, looks like it took its toll on him Sad

Love Adrian, he’s a genius

GrouchyKiwi · 12/12/2021 15:25

It will be interesting to see who is where with the new regulations next year. Russell at Mercedes will be good (though I prefer Lando of the younger two).

George Russell has tweeted-

Max is an absolutely fantastic driver who has had an incredible season and I have nothing but huge respect for him, but what just happened is absolutely unacceptable. I cannot believe what we’ve just seen

prh47bridge · 12/12/2021 15:28

That was an awful decision by Masi. Looking at the rules, it seems clear that either all lapped cars must be allowed through, in which case the safety car comes in at the end of the following lap, or none of them go through. Masi allowed some through and then ended the safety car on the same lap. There is nothing in the rules that allowed him to do this. By doing so, he has changed the result of the world championship. If he had stuck to the rules, either the race would have finished under the safety car (in which case Hamilton would have won) or there would have been several cars between Verstappen and Hamilton at the restart, which wouldn't have made a Hamilton win a near certainty.

This is not the way the title should have been decided. Charlie Whiting would never have allowed this to happen.

Of course he would say that though! Hardly an unbiased view.
