I cry at most things Blush especially things like the Good Dinosaur, Up etc... but these are “grown up” and they still make me cry.

The spies goodbye in Agents of Shield, and the bit where all the adults are volunteering to die so that others can live in The 100 Sad

The ending of Pride when all the miners turn up 😭

ineedaholidayandwine · 10/03/2021 11:13

@donutosaurus same! Rarely cried, now something on MN/the news can make me start 😭

Worknoplay · 10/03/2021 11:14

O Captain my Captain scene with Robin Williams. Even more so now. Every time.

Cariadmehome · 10/03/2021 11:16

When George kills Mitchell in Being Human. Makes me sob

TroysMammy · 10/03/2021 11:18

Greyfriars Bobby and the dog doesn't even die.

grey12 · 10/03/2021 11:19

Someone was bound to say it Hmm The Notebook....

Soubriquet · 10/03/2021 11:21

Homeward bound when Shadow just gives up laying in the pit.

And then more sobs when he comes limping over the hill

The ending of Fringe, oddly.

"You are my favourite thing, Peter. My very favourite thing."

Every. Damn. Time. John Noble really sells the moment.

I'm tearing up just typing that.

JimmyJabs · 10/03/2021 11:23

How can nobody have mentioned the end of Blackadder Goes Fourth? I can't even think about it without welling up. Who would have noticed another madman around here?

A few years ago now, there was an adaptation of Tess of the D'Urbervilles with Gemma Arterton as Tess, and the ending where she's hanged is heartbreaking. The music is very beautiful and you just see the black flag being raised over the prison afterwards.

TheDogsMother · 10/03/2021 11:24

The W H Auden poem, Stop All The Clocks, in the funeral scene of Four Weddings. I'm welling up now thinking about it.

Oh yes JimmyJabs ! The slow motion 'going over the top' scene gets me every time.
MissFlite · 10/03/2021 11:27

Tim & Dawn in The Office
Pretty much every scene in After Life.
The dog scene in Derek!

Ricky Gervais is a genius Grin

Warrickdaviesasplates · 10/03/2021 11:29

Obviously the first 10 mins of Up.

The ending of Storks when everyone gets the babies they asked for.

In Criminal Minds when Hayley Hotchner is killed and is on the phone to Hotch telling him to look after their son Jack and then the camera cuts to Hotch as you hear the gun go off. (Welling up just remembering the scene!)

So many episodes of Call The Midwife. Tbh I cry pretty much any time a baby is born on tv, it's a bit of a joke in our house that I can't cope with babies.

The episode of Buffy where Joyce died. Sarah Michelle Geller just made it so believable and it felt so powerful to see such a strong super hero type character become so helpless.

@ineedaholidayandwine

Oh God yes Ghost Whisperer. I'm too embarrassed to watch it in front of anyone. And I don't even believe in ghosts. Blush Confused

Loopyloututu2 · 10/03/2021 11:32

I agree with a lot of these - also:

The scene in “he’s just not that into you” where Ginnifer Goodwin realises that Justin long is dicking her about. And the scene where Ben Affleck finally proposes to Jennifer Anniston - I cry a lot at that film for some reason!
The scene in “10 things I hate about you” where Julia Stiles bursts into tears when reading the poem she’s written about Heath ledger (I saw this at the cinema as a youngster and cried and then bawled again when I watched it with dd recently!)
Erin Brockovitch in the end scene when Julia Roberts opens the envelope.
“Kramer v Kramer” when the little boy runs to his dad (Dustin Hoffman)

And Marley and Me - the scene when Owen Wilson is talking to Marley as he’s....omg I can’t even type it! 😭

PowerhouseOfTheCell · 10/03/2021 11:33

Oh god two episodes of Futurama for some reason Confused the first is when Fry finds his mummified dog and wants to bring him back to life only to think he had a whole new life once Fry got frozen...episode ended with a montage of the dog waiting for Fry for 12 years Sad

The second was the episode Fry was dreaming of his Mum and Nibbler gave him the ability to go into her dreams and see her one last time and just gives her a massive hug, I was hysterical

grey12 · 10/03/2021 11:35

@TheBlackTower how could I forget Dumbo Sad

Loopyloututu2 · 10/03/2021 11:36

I honestly can’t even watch Dumbo. I can’t listen to “baby of mine” either!

QueenPaw · 10/03/2021 11:36

We watched Inside out at work at Christmas and I cried at that
The entire film of Hachi, I howled so much the cat hid under the sofa

Yep! I have all the dvd's but can't watch as i know I'll be a blubbering mess and my husband will think I've lost it Grin

RedRec · 10/03/2021 11:37

Jenny dying in Forrest Gump.
Phoebe and Mike realising they love each other in Friends.
And yes to what a pp said about Blackadder Goes Forth. The very end.

IntermittentParps · 10/03/2021 11:40

YES I am helpless in the face of 'Daddy, my Daddy!'.

And Truly Madly Deeply, when the pest control man hears Nina talking to her dead boyfriend and tells her how he still talks to his wife who died in 1974. 'And death shall have no dominion. We know that, don't we, me and you?'
Blub.

Jocasta2018 · 10/03/2021 11:41

End of 'Paddington 2' when Aunt Lucy appears. I've heard rumours that some of my male friends might've had some dust in their eye when they took their kids to the cinema to see it...
I saw 'War Horse' on stage & Ive never been so glad for a pair of opera glasses in my life. The film made me cry but the stage production took my tears to a different level!

Soubriquet · 10/03/2021 11:41

The raver funeral they had for Yondu in Guardians of the galaxy 2 Sad

Volume 3 won’t be the same without him

Mark dying in ER. Even now when I hear that version of Over the Rainbow I think of it.
Also, in ER when Carol walks out of the hospital, on to a plane, and goes to Doug.
@donutosaurus that bit in Armageddon makes me bawl. I also get so angry when Liv Tyler runs up and hugs Ben Affleck...I'd be punching him for leaving my dad up there to die. When I'd get a new boyfriend my mother would say "Would you leave this one up there to die?" and I always answer that you can get a new boyfriend but only one dad. They think I'm cracked lol.
