I cry at most things Blush especially things like the Good Dinosaur, Up etc... but these are “grown up” and they still make me cry.

The spies goodbye in Agents of Shield, and the bit where all the adults are volunteering to die so that others can live in The 100 Sad

OP posts:

Just remembered another, an oldie - Carousel, not the obvious choice at the end but the reprise of If I Loved You just before the end, its on Youtube and i regularly torture myself with it!

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 10/03/2021 18:04

When little foots mum dies in The Land Before Time

When Bruce Willis says goodbye to Liv Tyler in Armageddon

When meridth realises that John Doe is George in Greys Anatomy

When Marley dies in Marley and Me

When Shadow re-appears at the edge of the woods at the end of Homeward Bound

Going to go back and read everyone else's now

trappedsincesundaymorn · 10/03/2021 18:06

The ending of Stephen King's "The Mist" gets me every time.

JimmyJabs · 10/03/2021 18:06

Another LOTR one - in The Return of the King, after all the men of Gondor have gone out and been killed, there's a shot of Gandalf sitting alone in a courtyard, with his head bowed, while the bells toll in the background. It's a quite rare moment of quiet reflection in a film that's generally loud and bombastic and I wasn't expecting to feel so affected!

coldwarenigma · 10/03/2021 18:09

My Girl
Marley and Me
Goodbye Mr Chips... the one with Martin Clunes
The Sound of Music. when he can't get through Edelweiss and Maria comes on to support him, and the whole audience joins in - singing bless my homeland forever, knowing their homeland will never be the same again.
Goodnight Mister Tom
Homeward Bound
A Dogs Journey

Hachi…that is just a blubfest!

zukiecat · 10/03/2021 18:13

@Jellyfishnchips

Oh yes, The Pianist is a very hard watch.

The old man in the wheelchair Sad

NeedWineNow · 10/03/2021 18:14

Oh God this thread will definitely set me off - here's my contribution

Daddy, my daddy from the Railway Children

Ghost - the bit with the coin going up the door and she realises it is Sam's ghost

Seconding the end of Carousel - always sets me off

The bit in the Ken Branagh version of Frankenstein, where the blind man runs his hands over the creature's face and says 'you poor soul, what have they done to you

ET, when the scientists have got Elliott and ET and Elliott sees that ET's flower has died

And the Royal Family Queen of Sheba, when Barbara is doing Nan's hair. Nan sings Que Sera Sera and says 'I do love you Barbara'. Sue Johnston's face just crumples and I often wonder if that was scripted. I'm filling up thinking about it.

Sugarandteaandmum · 10/03/2021 18:15

I cry at literally everything these days and my children's eyes roll so hard they sprain their faces.

Daddy, my Daddy!! was of course my gateway drug.

Things I've cried about in last few days, in no particular order - thank you, perimenopause:-

The lanterns in Tangled (Me: "Bwahaha that's what I'd do, if I ever lost you, I'd never stop looking boohoo" DD: "just SHUT UP you are so annoying!")

The end of The Dig (Me: "This will be pretty cheery, they will find the ship, nothing to cry over" DH, getting tissues "Hmm")

Ang Lee Sense and Sensibility (Me: "She loved him all the time look! bwahhohhboohoo And he's the baddie out of Paddington, did you know?" DD: "She should have just SAID. Shut up, you are so annoying")

Finding Dory, with the shells (DD: "Er, I'm just going to fast forward this bit" Other DD: "Yes, yes, we know, if you lost us you would never stop looking. Thanks.")

CarolinaWeeper · 10/03/2021 18:16

I agree with Outlander and baby Faith, I was absolutely sobbing.

In a similar vein in How To Get Away with Murder when pregnant Annaliese is in the car crash and her baby dies and she's holding him out to the nurse screaming "take him.... just take him."

I can't watch anything upsetting involving children without turning into an absolute wreck.

NeedWineNow · 10/03/2021 18:17

Oh yes, and the end of Paddington 2 with Aunt Lucy turning up (sob)

Sunny4876 · 10/03/2021 18:20

Oh my,too many to mention,I'm the worst crier(took my 2 Dds to watch inside out and I'm the only one who cried when bing bong died)
Earliest memory of crying at a programme is the song at the littlest hobo, cried every single week.
Latest was today watching only the brave.

BrownEyedGirl80 · 10/03/2021 18:21

The scene in The Royle Family Where Barbara sings que cera cera to Nana I can't watch I without bawling.

Echobelly · 10/03/2021 18:23

The end of 'Song of the Sea' when the kids see their mum has me in floods - kids just sit there normally!

Darth Vader's death

End of Edwards Scissorhands

SingToTheSky · 10/03/2021 18:30

I love song of the sea! I haven’t seen their latest film yet

GenderApostate19 · 10/03/2021 18:31

I watched Last of the Mohicans for the first time in years and teared up at Daniel Day Lewis’s ‘just stay alive, whatever occurs, I will find you’ .
Plus the British officer, who you think is a total git, sacrificing himself to be burned to death so she can go free.

The bit in Armageddon where Bruce Willis sabotages Ben Affleck’s suit so he can go back to Liv Tyler.
The mass funeral pyre scene in GoT, especially Sansa/Theon, Dany/Jorah.
My eyes were prickling today watching a Pixar short film called Lava with my 18 month old Grandson, he was sat all cuddled up with me absolutely enthralled, it’s a beautiful little film and song.

peaceanddove · 10/03/2021 18:36

Gladiator, when he lies dying, "Go to them Maximus. Go to them."

Empire Strikes Back, "I love you"......"I know".

wheresmyhairytoe · 10/03/2021 18:36

Harry Potter - Cedric's Dad "that's my boy", Dobby dying 😭, Harry walking to his death and seeing his loved ones come out the Resurrection Stone.

Toy Story 3- from the furnace onwards.

Toy Story 4 - the end.

Coco - when he's singing and Grandma remembers him.

The Big Bang Theory - the last episode, Sheldon's speech. Our DS is autistic and so like Sheldon so it makes us think of him.

SaborDeSoledad · 10/03/2021 18:37

@Lellochip

The ending of Pride when all the miners turn up 😭
Oh yes this! I love that film.

Also:

This Is England '88, when Woody visits Lol in hospital
The pharmacy scene in It's A Wonderful Life. And the ice-skating scene. OK, the whole film...

Abracadabra12345 · 10/03/2021 18:43

@TheDogsMother

The W H Auden poem, Stop All The Clocks, in the funeral scene of Four Weddings. I'm welling up now thinking about it.
I was HAUNTED by that scene for years!
Abracadabra12345 · 10/03/2021 19:03

The final scenes in Last Christmas when she realises what is really going on. Won’t add spoilers but it has me bawling. I’ve watched it 5 times and counting

The fathers death in Lion King

Up - oh yes.

About Time when the son realises he has to choose between more time with his dad or having another child

Another vote for the slow- motion end of Blackadder

The heartbreaking scene on the beach in Me Before You

The last scene in the brilliant and underrated Still Life

The horrible scene where the mother had to choose between her two children in Sophie’s Choice

Jody21 · 10/03/2021 19:14

Fresh Prince, when Will was supposed to go on a trip with his father who ditches him at the last minute. The scene between Will and his uncle afterwards leaves me bawling.

So many scenes in Last Kingdom, especially Leofric and Haligs deaths.

Jojo Rabbit, when he tries to tie his mum's shoelaces, I sobbed like a baby.

FourTurnings · 10/03/2021 19:23

Kes - all of it
Gallipoli - especially the final scene
Missing ( by director Costa-Gavras)
El Salvador
Fish Tank ( the mother and daughter dance scene)
The end of London to Brighton where she watches the girl go into her Grans house

Puddymuddle · 10/03/2021 19:26

In frozen 2 where Elsa is singing show yourself and she realises her mother is the voice- she sings the line ‘I am found’ - sets me off every time!

marenghisdarkplace · 10/03/2021 19:27

Opening scenes of 'Up' when she loses the baby - it's animated and it has me sobbing!

VeraDonovan · 10/03/2021 19:28

Terms of Endearment where she says goodbye to her kids
