Anyone else unable to sleep/still up?

I have to be up in less than 3 hours. I am not even tired in the slightest. Anyone else still up or unable to sleep?

I was about to start a similar thread.

I’m awake, it’s blowing a gale outside and I woke up with pounding heart and work stress about 2 hours ago after going to bed at 10:30

What’s keeping you up?

Jasmin82 · 10/03/2021 03:26

@Youngatheart00 An oversized arachnid (I am aware I may be exaggerating size somewhat) on the wall above my wardrobe. I can't reach it. I tried throwing a shoe at it (no idea why). I missed and my shoe is now inaccessible and I'm certain the arachnid is giving me the finger.

Spray at it with deodorant or hairspray 😬

I'm up. I have a drinking cold and so does my 5th month old. We are both exhausted

Cooltalkin · 10/03/2021 03:32

Morning , the weather woke me , and work stress keeping me awake too
A little browse on mumsnet while I snuggle under the covers and by listen to the wind

I could have written this myself. I love my job but I don't want to go.
DMCWelshcakes · 10/03/2021 03:36

DH woke me up at 2.40 am. Again. He's now snoring away and I'm wide awake.

I might actually just give up & go downstairs for a cup of tea. (Decaf, obviously.)

tylerina · 10/03/2021 03:37

Awake here too...need to be up at 7 and here I am watching the clock tick around. Not even sure why. But I am mighty glad it doesn't involve large arachnids...!! Hope we all get some shut-eye soon

Angliski · 10/03/2021 03:38

Also up. Little one ha a horrid cold that’s waking him up intermittently. He is back down but I’m awake now. I’m thinking about all the things that aren’t on- the empty what’s on page, the lack of dance, music, theatre, classes, even the library and wondering how it’ll feel to have these wonderful choices and options again. I was pondering a visit to Liverpool, where we were spoilt for choice about places to dance, play, eat, drink, explore.... and how I won’t take anything like that for granted again.

Jasmin82 · 10/03/2021 03:39

Hugs for those woken by the weather.
That sounds rubbish, @OhToBeASeahorse Hope you're both feeling better soon.
I'm currently watching old marble racing videos on Youtube while browsing Mumsnet and kind of checking other sites.

Why is it the accumulation of minor stresses just grow arms and legs in the middle of the night??

Plump82 · 10/03/2021 03:43

Im awake as im stressed about the roof we urgently need done. Its been majorly delayed due to covid and the inability to get a decent roofer /quotes but now we finally have that, it turns out we need planning permission as we live in a conservation area.
Im lying listening to the wind and rain and trying not to think of the damage that's probably happening.

BooseysMom · 10/03/2021 03:45

I'm awake yet again. Every night I wake between 2 and 3 with a pounding heart due to peri menopause. I'm listening to the wind and wondering if this is it sleep wise. Want to get up but too early. Mum always said if you can't sleep don't just lie there, get up and do.something

Youngatheart00 · 10/03/2021 03:50

My get up and do something involved getting a glass of Ribena, turning on my lamp and scrolling MN. Thankfully DH is already in the spare room as he has a cold. I have the classic hot throat which makes me concerned I’m about to come down with it too.

I hate this ‘witching hour’

Youngatheart00 · 10/03/2021 03:51

@Plump82 oh how annoying about your roof. Hope you can get someone out ASAP. Do you have buildings cover?

GreenSlide · 10/03/2021 03:52

Just been woken up by my asshole neighbour who turns UP the TV between 2am-4am every night Angry

🤷‍♀️ I wondered if it's that you are alone at night with your worries but I'm alone in the day too so it's not that for me
Youngatheart00 · 10/03/2021 03:56

WTF @GreenSlide?!!! Have you spoken to them about that?

GreenSlide · 10/03/2021 03:58

WTF *@GreenSlide*?!!! Have you spoken to them about that?
No, we only moved in a month ago. DH has been round twice but he doesn't answer the door. I'm pregnant and could usually sleep through a hurricane but even I can't sleep through this. He seems to be listening to online poker or something just at the minute.
Wigmic · 10/03/2021 04:02

I couldn’t sleep, then the wind made one of the downstairs doors bang. Scared me half to death thinking there was someone in the house. DP was sleeping in the spare room so I had to go down by myself armed with a can of dry shampoo to scare of any burglars. There’s no hope of going to sleep anytime soon with my heart still racing. I have to be up in 3 hours ughhh.

PhilCornwall1 · 10/03/2021 04:05

It's the usual morning run for painkillers for me, although I had an extra half hour this morning before my RA woke me up. Now in my usual position on the settee with a fresh coffee.

Mrs PC doesn't mind, she's fast asleep at the moment and will get coffee in bed at 6am. No chance of our morning lie in till 7:30 this morning, as the boys are back to school and college today.

Anyone would think it was Christmas Eve last night, they are both excited to be getting back.

Youngatheart00 · 10/03/2021 04:06

@Wigmic I’m sorry but the dry shampoo thing has really made me chuckle!! You have my sympathies though, it’s horrible trying to calm yourself in the middle of the night after a scare

@GreenSlide I’d definitely be putting a note through his door. Totally unreasonable! Does he work?

southdowns78 · 10/03/2021 04:10

Yep me too . Got woken at 2.40 to the sound of the bloody milkman delivering to local houses in my road , noisy truck , leaves engine running , clank clank clank , door slams then next house then next house ... and then in tandem all the security lights come on one by one . it is quiet road , no street lamps in a semi rural area so any sound is amplified . Now still awake as can't get back to sleep . Listening to the wind outside .

GreenSlide · 10/03/2021 04:13

@Youngatheart00 yes, he's an accountant! He's turned it round down now. Had it up high long enough just to wake me up then turned it right down weirdo.

@southdowns78 I knew milkmen delivered early in the am but that is ridiculous!!

ShopTattsyrup · 10/03/2021 04:13

I had an intense nightmare about a colleague chasing me around a barn with a nail gun ... feel free to analyse that! Woke up with a racing heart and now am wide a bloody awake and need to be up for work in 2 hours Sad
