I wonder if the Royal Family stepped in for this to happen

I don't believe piers left for having an opinion.

He had to leave because his opinion has become the dominant narrative of the show and his obsession with MM more and more unhealthy to the point he's made some extremely damaging (for the itv brand) accusations.

If he's stuck to what he did and challenge and question narratives he'd have survived. But somewhere in the past 6 months it's turned from challenging the narrative to dictating the narrative (but not following his dictations - Antigua anyone?) to shouting and refusing to engage in anyone who challenges his narrative.

He's run poll after poll to boost his ego about how great he is compared to others.

If he'd remained the controversial character he was 12-18 months ago and allowed what he did to speak for himself - he'd still be in his job.

mental health issues are important and of course everyone has different tolerances, whilst their ability to cope varies. Noone knows how others suffer or cope but if we take the view hypothetically that we accept everything at face value then we should perhaps accept it when anyone comment that their mental health is suffering, so taking that to logical conclusion we will live in a world where nothing is queried. Of course that is fine until two peoples mental health stressed conflict. Of course people' mental health is their own business and I wouldn't comment upon the state of people's mental health because it is private, and when my nearest friends and family confide or need help I provide support. However, should my friends or family decide to share third issues on tv to be broadcast across the world I would expect people to comment.

He left because itv would have sacked him given their mental health stance.

I agree that's a well balanced piece that gets right to the route of the problem.

Jbon9087 · 10/03/2021 17:40

@HmmmmmmInteresting Thanks for that article.

We all knew about Piers twisted love/hate becoz her ghosting him was part of his 'evidence' for attacking her.

It's been clear for years he's a malicious narcissist; 1. He cannot stand rejection, 2. he grievance nurses, 3. he character assassinates, 4. morally vacant (wire tapping), 5. Emotional bully, 6. No shame / lacks boundaries, 7. Lies profoundly 8.Makes Devastating allegations impossible to defend against ie "a shameless piece of work. 9.No responsibility, 10 Never apologises etc etc etc "

Everyone knew it ...but the public & GMB were happy to go along with it because Racism is irrational so people don't want to admit to it, so Piers endless spurious attacks were just perfect..

Piers cannot shame himself because he has none, but we have shamed ourselves by allowing this hounding to go on for so many years.

GB has been shamed too. And deep down even the screamers on here know it too.

DudeistPriest · 10/03/2021 17:41

I hear Matt Hancock was sad to see him go.

You don't think mm can complain that piers doubted her suicide attempt?

What suicide attempt.

MercyBooth · 10/03/2021 17:54

Old article by Piers "scrap Eastenders call over gay kiss"

So homophobe as well.

Oh sorry. Her feeling suicidal.

Did you enjoy being pedantic ?

Bourbonbiccy · 10/03/2021 18:27

I can't help but like the idea that he was sacked because MM complained to ITV, who had just aired her interview.

His constant barrage of abuse about her and then she makes a call and he's sacked.

He will reappear on the new GB news, alongside Andrew marr and probably the likes of Lawrence fox, calling everyone "woke" .

Despite me disliking the individual, I think he was good for holding the government to account more so than most and pushing a bit of a better narrative of the truth then other stations but then his true colours of general vile come through again at every opportunity so it's a good time for him to go.

Anne1958 · 10/03/2021 18:28

Did you enjoy being pedantic ?

Stop being so ridiculous.

You don't think pointing out it was a thought and not an attempt is pedantic?

Susannah couldn't of been more eager to distance herself and say she didn't agree with PM about Megan on her announcement today .

She was reading a very carefully written statement.

So that when ofcom investigate, piers said it, he's gone and nobody else on the programme had anything to do with it.

She's never agreed with PM with regards Meghan.

I felt for her today. She looked empty. I saw her stumble at one point and then move her phone to the side. I wouldn't be surprised if PM wasn't messaging her whilst she tried to present.

I though Ranvir was very good as usual. I hope her and Adil Ray get his spot.

She was backtracking because she has been getting dragged on Twitter for being complicit. Sitting there like a croissant while Piers went on his bigoted tirades.

Sparklingbrook · 10/03/2021 20:42

I don't think SR was trying to distance at all. I agree her speech may have been pre written but he's been her colleague for 5 years and she seemed a bit shellshocked/numb over it all.

I think Ranvir struggled a bit this morning.

Anyone listened to Andrew Neil on The Media Show this afternoon?

Whole thing was a set up (with, I suspect, the exception of the man who was put on to argue with him.)

He’ll be turning up on GB TV in the not too distant. Contracts probably drafted already.

It really did come across as a set up.

Sparkling , do you know and like Piers?
Why?
itsgettingwierd · 10/03/2021 20:54

Is there a link to the media show or where can I watch?

Lots of people feel this is a set up (apparently PM was the one who actually asked for Alex to be on the show).

I'm beginning to think it's possible PM set up Alex knowing he'd challenge him and wanted to use Alex challenge as a way to get his exit, newspaper headlines and then his announcement.

I'm not 100% convinced it's that simple but there's definitely merit in the thought process and evidence that points towards it being true.
