And his obsession with Meghan Markle.

Good. Piers Morgan is obsessed with her. And Alex called it right.

If anything it will only further his (Piers) career. I think it was contrived- not on Alex's part and not necessarily planned for that day; but with two right-wing news/talk shows on their way (Andrew Niel is creating something similar to Americas Fox News) he's probably eyeing up a position with one of them.

Roussette · 12/03/2021 20:12

And will anyone watch this dross?
Doubtful.
There is a reason there is only three plus Sky news channels in the UK.

It will die and Andrew Neil has said he needs to take time out.

Polite way of saying... for now... jog on... we don't need a big 'personality' like you

Mummy195 · 12/03/2021 20:22

If anyone at all comes and talks sense to PM, reasonably, no shouting, and valid points. Just on the level keeping the whole tone of the conversation down, you can know that person will never come back again, PM and ITV will basically ban them. He lives on sensationalism, and some people want to push back, which he likes.

Look at this interview with Akala. He basically destroys PM with a level voice, and attentiveness. Never seen anything like it. He was never invited again...........................ever.

itsgettingwierd · 12/03/2021 20:40

That was a great interview. Really made me think.

Roussette · 12/03/2021 20:43

@Mummy195. What fantastic words from this guy. And what inane questions from the three of them.

Thank you.

I'm going to look him up now.

Lonelycrab · 12/03/2021 21:11

He lives on sensationalism

This with bells on.

Freedom of speech stuff is bullshit. When you’re a bully on a vendetta that doesn’t apply. Disappointing so many people bypass that bit.

Er did you watch the interview? They tried for 3 yrs to "sort their differences"

[/quote] Akala is fab. Much too intellectual for GMB, though. Half their viewers wouldn't be able to follow what he was saying. That's probably why they didn't invite him back. Needs to be dumbed down.

He's got such an amazing memory- how does he keep all those facts and figures in his head?

He reminds me of Russel Brand.

Tdaadfb100 · 13/03/2021 01:48

All planned, I reckon. He’ll be hotfooting it over to GB News. Mark my words 😉

Roussette · 13/03/2021 08:28

@HmmmmmmInteresting

He was besotted with her. This is a very interesting article linked below. When he was all over her, he was tweeting continually about her, absolutely no wonder she stopped engaging with him, he would not stop. It was OTT treacly stuff, urghhhh. If it were me, it would make me very uneasy.

And let's all bear in mind, she has never spoken about him, never trashed him, never retaliated.

The timeline of how he was with her is really quite shocking, He called her 'his friend', he went from idolising her, even saying the only interest he had in Pippa's wedding was to see what Meghan was wearing... from that to hate.

"Hearty congratulations, Harry, you picked a real keeper (even if your romance did destroy my beautiful friendship with the amazing Meghan Markle)."

"Meghan's got beauty, brains, charm and a great sense of humour. She's also an ambitious, hard-working and talented actress with an impressive passion for things she believes in."

Morgan addressed Prince Harry in the column, telling him to "ignore all the poisonous rubbish you're reading or hearing about her."

Ironic, yes?!

He'd tweeted her asking for an invite to the wedding. That didn't happen and he turned on her.

The article worth a read

itsgettingwierd · 13/03/2021 10:16

I said up thread I seemed to recall him stating publicly on GMB many times he felt he'd get an invite to the wedding.

Then he didn't. And he turned in her.

The route of all his problems with each job he's sacked from is his ego.

I don't deny he has an ability to challenge narratives and some need challenging. What he doesn't have the ability to do is challenge a narrative and listen to the other side or allow them to have an opinion.

He almost seems scared that if someone challenged his POV or his narrative in a coherent way people will question his POV. It's like a fear he cannot be proven wrong or incorrect. I think it is a personality disorder of MH problem but his ego wouldn't allow him to consider that - he'd see himself as weak.

But it's a strength to be able to challenge your own views, or,listen to others views and challenge them with facts and option to state your case about why you don't agree. He doesn't possess that strength. He misconstrues strength of character with being able to shout and argue.

It's actually quite sad.

itsgettingwierd · 13/03/2021 10:32

That's an excellent article.

I think the telling thing is PM comments about trashing him but "not on my own show".

He honestly believed it was the PM show and not GMB. He couldn't equate his potion as one of many presenters.

I hadn't heard him say that last bit - just the bit about not being able to take this anymore.

earnshaw47 · 13/03/2021 11:03

Piers does cause strong feelings, you either agree or you dont, i do admire him for speaking his mind , so unusual in this day and age where whatever you say or do with offend someone, he is never boring and,in the most part ,i agree with him

LolaSmiles · 13/03/2021 11:08

I don't think it's as simple as that.
I disagree with a lot of his personal opinions, but have some time for him calling politicians out on their bullshit in a way other interviewers don't.

Roussette · 13/03/2021 11:15

Saying you either agree with him or you don't, he says what he thinks, he's outspoken blah blah...

So is it OK to say what you think, even if it is unfair or untrue? I don't think so.
Otherwise the likes of Tommy Robinson would be Home Secretary and Katie Hopkins Overseas Minister.
Sometimes people say things that are just wrong.
PM did.

Hitler had strong feelings many agreed with.

He voiced them because he believed in freedom of speech.

It's not black and white and there is responsibility with rights.

To be fair we've got the female Tommy Robinson as Home Secretary!
Roussette · 13/03/2021 11:33

Haha... yes as I typed that, I thought good grief, not much better than what we've got. To be fair to her, she tries her best to hide it. Doesn't work though...

Well, you're fooled about his thoughts about Meghan, because they come from a place of jealousy and misogynistic hatred. That is all. Unless you like that kind of thing. In which case, crack on, love.
