Plus the timing of their complaints is a bit strange. On tour in Africa representing the Queen, highlighting charitable projects and witnessing poverty and then deciding this is the best time to complain about how hard a time they're having...I think that rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.

Oh, you've already seen the interview, have you? You know it's to complain about what a hard time they're having? I'm expecting it to be about the new life they're leading. But then Ive not seen it yet as you obviously have.

Mummy195 · 07/03/2021 11:14

Don't forget 'ungrateful' , just like that Lewis Hamilton who so many dislike but can't qwhite put their finger on why.
thereisonlyoneofme · 07/03/2021 11:18

The old saying "todays news, tomorrows chip paper" springs to mind

HmmmmmmInteresting · 07/03/2021 11:20

Hopefully. Meanwhile H&M will make bank and be even further on in their quest to live their financially independent life as they see fit.

Errr I was clearly talking about the "not many people have asked if I'm ok" interview.

Funny how OP has disappeared.

Hi OP! How do you think your thread is going?

I dislike him for all the same reasons that I like David Beckham, if that helps?

Fabulous! I look forward to seeing them renounce all the titles and trappings of the 'firm' they so despise as well. Onwards to freedom!

Hmmmmmmm etc - Which part is ''wrong'''?

Missushbb · 07/03/2021 11:32

@Pixxie7

I think that Meghan has realised how popular Diana was and has tried to emulate her, wasn’t it Diana who first referred to the royal family as the firm. When she first came here she was welcomed with open arms. The other thing Diana and Meghan have in common is they are happy for the press to be involved when it suits them. There is no need for them to do this interview, they should just get do what they said they wanted and live their lives outside of the royal family.
It's was Philip who called them the Firm, when he married in to it. He had to give up his own titles to marry in, I believe.
HmmmmmmInteresting · 07/03/2021 11:32

@oakleaffy your post with the Auschwitz video has been deleted, so enough already. What you are doing is belittling the experiences of people who have committed suicide due to bullying and trolling in the media.

ODFOx · 07/03/2021 11:35

I haven't followed in any detail and I don't tend to read celebrity stories in the press so have no reason to doubt that they had good reasons for leaving or that she felt bullied or that her staff did. Their 'truth' is their business.
I do think it is a shame that they have done a public interview where they wash family dirty linen in public and put a deeper wedge between Harry and his family. Families fall out and have misunderstandings and forgive each other all the time. By putting this out in the public domain for financial gain I think they have embarrassed themselves and their families.
Even now the dreadful Diana interview is still trawled up and Martin Bashir has been investigated for potential wrongdoing. William was taken aside and shown it at school and has said that he was very hurt and ashamed and couldn't understand why his mother would have told such things to everyone. I suspect he'll feel the same about Harry doing the same thing.

FrippEnos · 07/03/2021 11:36

@billysboy

For a couple that do t like publicity and the press this sure is an odd way of going about things
Please remember that she only wants good publicity that she can control and that anyone that says anything not in line with the sycophants bad about her is a racist hater.
ChickenSoupForTheHmm · 07/03/2021 11:38

My point about popularity was in regards to the general public not the press specifically - in my local area the kids designed a dress for princess Meghan, we had. Street party for the wedding. In the general public i would say both Meghan and Harry at that time were extremely popular. If the public had an issue with Meghan’s race then why would we have been celebrating their union?
I’m not defending the press there may be inherent racism, elitism and sexism in their description of Meghan as there is with many other figures.
I don’t think press coverage solely is responsible for the public mood changing towards Harry and Meghan they are simple not as popular as they once were- the perception of them both is forever changed for a lot of people with their bratty behaviour.
It simply say this is solely racism at play is incorrect I think we can all recognise this situation is far more nuanced than that.

Nuanced is another bingo word.

Crikey! I was up early to let the dog out for a wee, and then I went back to bed, and this thread has gone mad! I was only asking about time differences!

Harry and Meghan’s popularity over time

Anyone in the US? Did you watch the Meghan interview?
Number3BigCupOfTea · 07/03/2021 11:43

@Pixxie7 I agree with you, the sheer mite of the Firm, The RF, the Press, the Twitter warriors, the columnists, they cannot come out on top. The best thing to do would be focus on what they have, freedom, a lovely house, enough money to get by by anybody's standards! Just take stock, stand back and let time make things clear.

Harry and Meghan’s popularity over time
Ah yes, YouGov. That unbiased arbiter of truth. The same YouGov that said nobody is interested in watching the interview. Grin
