I’m just finishing Hear My Song in Amazon Prime, starring a very young Adrian Dunbar, Tara Fitzgerald and James Nesbit among others.

If you can get through the rousing final five minutes without your toes tapping and your hands clapping you are better than me!

It’s nonsensical, whimsical nostalgia and twee Irish, but marvellous.

Heh, just searched this thread and realised at least four of us listed Farewell My Concubine. Grin

Clearly not, after all, a film that no one else knows...

I have just added a couple of films to my watchlist.

May I recommend:
The Rocketeer, with Timothy Dalton
Everything is Illuminated, with Elijah Wood, directed by Liev Schrieber

An oldie:
Penny Serenade, with Cary Grant and Irene Dunne

SmokedDuck · 09/03/2021 05:28

Haven’t read the full thread so not sure if this has been mentioned but The Intouchables is one of my favourite films ever.

With Six You Get Eggroll. My brother and I used to watch this over and over again when we were young. We can pretty much quote the whole thing verbatim. No idea why we loved it so much!

I love this film! I thought I was the only person who has seen it!

Jonathan Livingstone Seagull, based on the book of the same name by Richard Bach. It has no humans, just seagulls; and a soundtrack by Neil Diamond.

FleetwoodRaincoat · 09/03/2021 16:51

Has anyone mentioned Jack and Sarah? Really enjoyed it back in the day. Ian McKelln, Judi Dench, Richard E Grant.
