Smol dishwasher tablets

WideLegJeans · 05/03/2021 08:06

We have only had them for a short while but they don't clean things in my dishwasher very well. However, the trust pilot reviews are mostly positive. What are others experiences if you use/have used them?

This thread is quite old, but if you've landed here looking for advice on the top detergents to buy, we've recently updated our best dishwasher tablets page with plenty of Mumsnetter-approved options. We hope it's helpful Flowers

I'm waiting for my trial pack. I'll let you know!

Bagelsandbrie · 05/03/2021 08:11

I’ve heard their products don’t work very well. The cynic in me wonders if they’re getting people to write positive reviews for them....

jendifer · 05/03/2021 08:11

We’ve used them for years. I don’t think they have added salt or rinse aid which some of the others do so we have to keep that topped up.

Been using them for a few months, I don't find them any better or any worse than finish/fairy etc, they do the job!

WhyIsMyKitchenSoCold · 05/03/2021 08:14

They are fine. And yes, rinse aid and salt needed on top, so they aren’t the most convenient. But I like the eco side of it. Their non bio capsules for laundry are really good.

SquirtleSquad · 05/03/2021 08:14

I tried them and didn't rate. I had to pre soak everything to get things really clean which I don't have to do with other brands and it seems like a waste of time and water doing it.

WaterGarden · 05/03/2021 08:15

I use them and find them ok. I don't notice them doing a worse job than Finish

Em1151 · 05/03/2021 08:16

I don’t rate them at all, but really like the washing machine ones

oohmyback · 05/03/2021 08:17

Work fine for me though I think I need to add salt to my dw .

Redglitter · 05/03/2021 08:17

I've been using them for ages now. Theyre just as good as the ones I used to buy in Tesco. Never had to add anything to them either. I like the eco aspect & they take up lots less storage space. I get the laundry capsules & fabric softener too

Cupcakegirl13 · 05/03/2021 08:21

No problems here they do as good a job as finish also find the laundry capsules good.

JorisBonson · 05/03/2021 08:21

Just cancelled mine. We had a blocked outside drain which was stuffed full of compacted Smol tablets.

Glasses were always a bit streaky and just didn't think they were up to scratch. Used them for a year just due to sheer laziness but definitely won't use again.

Notabove25 · 05/03/2021 08:22

I think they're fine. They aren't the 3 in 1 kind but they do the job they're supposed to well IMO. I love the tiny little boxes.

WideLegJeans · 05/03/2021 10:09

A real mix of responses. For me I have to run the dishwasher on a 70 degree and with not much in it to get things to clean. I've just had to wash things up by hand today and that was the last straw (hopefully I don't sound lazy!) but it isn't sustainable to have to re-wash things. The washing machine tablets seem ok but not yet used on work uniforms yet which get pretty grim.

I like them. We don’t add anything extra.

murbblurb · 05/03/2021 10:56

had a free trial. Badly overpackaged (just because it is cardboard doesn't change this) and very expensive. Same ingredients as the Aldi tablets which come in one large cardboard box and cost less than half as much. You need rinse aid and salt with both.

horrendous greenwash. Don't buy!

WaterGarden · 05/03/2021 11:39

I think the packaging is because of the child lock. They'd probably use less if they didn't bother with this.
Worrying about them blocking someone's drain though

WaterGarden · 05/03/2021 11:43

My reason for swapping to Smol was that I shop with tesco online and there weren't any dishwashing products without plastic. Even Ecover had plastic wrappers for the tablets. Cardboard is obviously better than plastic for the environment

GoodbyeToCare · 05/03/2021 11:46

I don't mind the dishwasher tablets but I hated the laundry pods and softener. The smell was awful.

JorisBonson · 05/03/2021 11:50

It was like bricks @WaterGarden, had to get dyno rod out!
WaterGarden · 05/03/2021 11:51

I wonder why they weren't dissolving. Hope it doesn't happen to us

murbblurb · 05/03/2021 13:12

might have been a child lock but I couldn't open the packet without destroying it!

fortunately I took off the plastic wrap before use, we have a septic tank so super cautious. From the info on here, glad I did.

definitely sticking with Aldi - as I noted, same ingredients anyway.

BikeRunSki · 05/03/2021 13:14

We’ve been using the dishwasher and laundry stuff fir about 3 years. I really like them!! We do have very soft water though, and have never needed dishwasher salt or rinse aid.

MissBridgetJones · 05/03/2021 13:17

I thought they were awful, cancelled very quickly. And the clothes washing pods. Nothing was clean.

SisterNight · 05/03/2021 13:18

The laundry stuff is great. I really love the fabric conditioner. Lasts for ages and is vegetarian unlike most other brands which contain animal fats Envy (not envy)
