Smol dishwasher tablets

We have only had them for a short while but they don't clean things in my dishwasher very well. However, the trust pilot reviews are mostly positive. What are others experiences if you use/have used them?

This thread is quite old, but if you've landed here looking for advice on the top detergents to buy, we've recently updated our best dishwasher tablets page with plenty of Mumsnetter-approved options. We hope it's helpful Flowers

I cancelled mine

I find Smol dishwasher tablets and Splosh kitchen and bathroom cleaners to be the only eco cleaning products that are as good as non-eco. We’ve tried various eco washing powders and liquids from plenty of brands and none of them do a good enough job. If someone could make a really effective eco clothes washing powder I’d buy it.

Take trust pilot with a pinch of salt, not so trustworthy. Google Joe Lycett abd trust pilot - very funny!

I found them crap. I stopped using them immediately and cancelled. I do use their laundry tablets but I don't think they're great either.

I used them plus the non bio pods for a year and then cancelled. They just aren't as good as the fairy ones I've gone back to.

The non bio pods clean well, but they don't leave a fresh scent on clothes and after a while of using them I found that my washing machine started to smell so I changed back to my old products there too.

Has anyone tried friendly soap's laundry powder? www.friendlysoap.co.uk/product/laundry-powder/

We use their soap, shampoo and clenser bars which are great but haven't tried this yet. I prefer powder to pods as I can decide how much detergent a wash needs.

Well I cancelled my plan yesterday. Sainsbury's do a box of 60 plastic free tablets for £5 - twice as many tablets for only 40p more. The box of powder was £3 for 25 washes so it actually works out better value to get the tablets! I was surprised by that.

I use the dishwasher tabs and don’t have a problem with them. I’ve just started using the laundry pods and quite like them so far, and I got the trial pack of the three spray cleaners. I’m lazy and have a tight budget so hate having to add the above to my grocery budget in shop. I enjoy having them delivered so I’ll probably continue to use them, but they aren’t excellent, just comparable.

I've been using SMOL for over a year and haven't had to buy salt or rinse aid.
They work.
Plastic free. £4.60 every 25 days

Drywhitefruitycidergin · 25/03/2022 09:28

I've just cancelled.
Thought I had a dishwasher problem but borrowed a finish tablet from a friend just in case. Finish cleans everything!

I used them for sevedral years before we moved to France, and I used vinegar as a rinse aid. They worked perfectly fine for us throughout.

However what you may not know, with dishwashers, is that if they are the ones that pop the tablet box open after 20 mins, they have a pre-wash which removes most of the stuff. You know if this is one of those as well, because they have a slot next to the tablet box and this has holes in the cover so that the water can dissolve it. So if you have one, and are not putting pre-wash in, your machine isn't washing properly.

I bought a small container of eco loose dishwasher powder and would put a teaspoon in, thus economising on the full wash that the dishwasher can do.

If your box pops open, and you have already put the tablet into the machine [not the pop open box] then again, your dishwasher is using all the detergent in the pre wash, not the main wash.
