What’s your favourite thing about staying in a hotel?

askmeagainin5 · 25/02/2021 19:07

Reminiscing on various lovely hotel stays and thinking about how I can’t wait to stay in one again. I think what I long for most is a big rainfall shower with lovely smelling mini toiletries, then wrapping up in a big white towel and sitting down on the chair in the room to peruse the dinner menu...

What’s your favourite part? Lovely big bed with white bedding? Ordering room service? Getting a bit dressed up to go down to the bar and have a drink?

Please do share your favourite things so I can read through them and get ridiculously excited over the thought of a possible stay in a lovely hotel later this year! Grin

Someone must’ve said it but...NO KIDS!!

Susie477 · 25/02/2021 20:41

The breakfast buffets.

Hilton do the best of the big UK chains, although Premier Inn are pretty good, too. I set may alarm early to make the most of it. Blush

Just being somewhere else, hopefully with a great view and beautiful surroundings - and breakfast included.

I always sleep like a baby in a hotel.
I'd live in one if I was a millionaire.

Loopyloututu2 · 25/02/2021 20:42

Not having to do anything except sleep, eat, have a bubble bath, a couple of treatments in the spa and have sex!

DontCallMeBaby · 25/02/2021 20:43

I mostly stay in hotels for work, mostly in London and on a public sector budget, so they’re of variable quality. But none of them contain my DH or my cats (or my DD, but she’s less obtrusive) so they’re all amazing. Of course I love DH and the cats, but the former snores and one of the latter stands on my head in the night, so I could really, really do with a night away from them.

I also like a good hotel breakfast, and the holy grail - a fridge rather than a mini bar, so I can buy a nice bottle from a supermarket, and chill it down.

How clean everything is

Roszie · 25/02/2021 20:46

Everything. I love hotels. I'm going to retire and live in a penthouse once I win the lottery.

eurochick · 25/02/2021 20:46

The breakfasts. I'm really not a morning person so having someone bring me a lovely breakfast of about three courses with zero effort from me is just bliss.

Toilenstripes · 25/02/2021 20:47

A gorgeous room with beams
The service
A library tucked away
A bar that stays open just for us
Pillows with a hint of lavender

Soontobeseller · 25/02/2021 20:47

Following just to find out where @Cissyandflora sleeps!

isseys4xmastinselcats · 25/02/2021 20:48

Watching television in bed dont do that at home, lovely clean fresh bedding, breakfast that i havent had to cook or wash up afterwards, coming back to a nice freshly cleaned room, its the being looked after elements of hotels i like

OrangeBananaFish · 25/02/2021 20:48

To all the PPs saying breakfast. You do all know you can go for a hotel breakfast anytime don't you? Beefeater or Brewers Fayre do all you can eat cooked and continental breakfasts. We go often. Obviously I am talking pre-covid, but they'll be back surely. Kids eat free at Beefeater and Brewers Fayre too (or at least they used to) so it would cost £19 for all you can eat for 5 of us. They are often linked to Premier Inns.

Anyway my favourite is the bed. Just the crips, clean sheets feel so much nicer than my own.

Bence69 · 25/02/2021 20:50

Roll top baths, crisp clean sheets, breakfast, frantic nights of sex Grin god I miss hotels xx

mrsfeatherbottom · 25/02/2021 20:52

Breakfast - that's where we try to get our money's worth!

I never sleep well in a hotel room, unfortunately. It's always too hot.

DoubleTweenQueen · 25/02/2021 20:53

Room service

Stopcollaborateandlisten77 · 25/02/2021 20:53

Waking up somewhere new, room service, comfy beds, not having to tidy and best of all...balcony with a sea/pool view ahh 💓

WatermelonKisses · 25/02/2021 20:55

Love going for a swim, then having a bath or shower with the mini toiletries, getting ready then heading down to the bar for a pre dinner cocktail 😃 bliss!

YesILikeItToo · 25/02/2021 20:55

I was going to say breakfast, but you’ve made me feel rather silly now @orangebananafish.

At a very posh hotel, I do like the little moment of going down for dinner.

But, truly breakfast is the highlight, whatever sort of hotel it is.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 25/02/2021 20:57

Cooked breakfast - eggs florentine or royale are much more delicious when a professional has cooked them.

Extra large cozy bed.

Amazing showers.

Not something you get too often in the UK but I love a balcony. Even if it's just a view of the car park.. it feels decadent somehow!

lalaandpoh · 25/02/2021 20:58

Love this thread!

Getting dressed up... going up to the hotel bar for a cocktail or glass of fizz. Eating some overpriced bar snacks... then calling it early and going back to the room for a night cap and sneaky room service order. While watching tv in a huge bed! Bliss.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 25/02/2021 20:59

It's different having the breakfast having stayed there. Just go to the Brewers isn't the same.

I've stayed in loads of hotels on my own with a previous job. My favourite was The Chesterfield Mayfair in London. So very swish and fancy.

I love a hotel stay, and will be booking DH and I into one for a weekend as soon as possible (because there's nothing like a hotel Breakfast!)

OverByYer · 25/02/2021 22:02

The bed.
Watching tv in bed with a drink

Learningtofeminist · 25/02/2021 22:09

@Toilenstripes PLEASE tell me what hotel(s) you normally stay at! A library tucked away?? I HAVE to know where I can get this!
