What’s your favourite thing about staying in a hotel?

Reminiscing on various lovely hotel stays and thinking about how I can’t wait to stay in one again. I think what I long for most is a big rainfall shower with lovely smelling mini toiletries, then wrapping up in a big white towel and sitting down on the chair in the room to peruse the dinner menu...

What’s your favourite part? Lovely big bed with white bedding? Ordering room service? Getting a bit dressed up to go down to the bar and have a drink?

Please do share your favourite things so I can read through them and get ridiculously excited over the thought of a possible stay in a lovely hotel later this year! Grin

A bath.

Only have a shower at home so a nice bathtub in a must.

After lockdown I'm booking a night out on my own just to wallow in the Bath.

We stayed at The Imperial in Torquay last October for our wedding anniversary.

Due to Covid & not wanting over crowded dining rooms they had waived the fee for room service.

Breakfast on our patio (we had a garden room) overlooking the sea was amazing.

Apart from that I like not having to make the bed or clean the room.

Getting dressed up for dinner! Also waking up and just relaxing with a cup of tea rather than thinking about all the jobs I need to do

I love the turn down service; sheets pulled back, bottle of water, slippers laid out and just the bedside lamps lit.
In fact, I'd really like to go upstairs to that at home!

peak2021 · 25/02/2021 20:13

If they have one, a swimming pool and a sauna.

Duggeehugs82 · 25/02/2021 20:15

I love staying in hotels and cannot wait until we can go back to them, i tried to recreate a hotel experience for my husband in first lockdown ,
I took everything out of room that was personal, i put mini bottles of toiletries from old hotel stays in our en suite and put folded towel on bed, brought kettle up and got some single packets of coffee and milk, i also brought a few miniature bottles of gin and tonic for mini bar
We pretend to have check in and i look after our girls while he relaxed in his room, then i did buffet breakfast in morning and he 'checked out' , sounds silly writing down but it made life different for a weekend and husband appreciated break

Crisp sheets, getting dressed to wander down to the bar but taking my time putting my hair in rollers and drinking champagne. People watching at the bar and making up silly backstories for other guests.
Waking up to the room service lady bringing me breakfast Grin

Sex with the waiter.

Funkypickle · 25/02/2021 20:17

No washing up

mogloveseggs · 25/02/2021 20:18

Breakfast for me and Dd
Dh loves having a pint in bed
Ds loves a bath bomb bath- we usually visit a lush on holiday if we're on a town and he gets one as a treat.

MrsBDarcy · 25/02/2021 20:20

Oh god. Everything. The comfy bed. Drinking wine in bed. Sex if it's a very rare adult night away. Like once every 2 years.
Breakfast. I love to linger and eat ALL the options and have endless coffee
Bath then maybe a shower as well.
I miss hotels

DenisetheMenace · 25/02/2021 20:21

Coming back to a clean room, crisp, made up bed, shiny bath, fluffy robe, room service dinner and not having to set an alarm.

Pebbles16 · 25/02/2021 20:24

Not having to make the bed (but still having a lovely bed to get into). Generally the whole "everything is clean" thing

Oblomov21 · 25/02/2021 20:24

Breakfasts. Crisp ironed sheets. Being away from home. God I miss it!

purrswhileheeats · 25/02/2021 20:25

Sex with the waiter Grin Takes me back right to 2004 🤣

PattyPan · 25/02/2021 20:27

Someone else doing the cleaning, making the bed etc!
The breakfast is a big plus too. I once went away with an ex and we had free breakfast included with the hotel stay and he didn’t want to use it Shock talk about a relationship being doomed!
I’ve never had room service, I didn’t know it was really a thing outside of tv. Clearly I’ve been missing out!

Biancadelrioisback · 25/02/2021 20:30

Having (almost) everything under one roof!
Comfy bed
Freshly made beds
Fresh towels
Food on TAP!
Bar
Spa
Ensuite
Mini toiletries
Staff who will bend over backwards for you

I used to work in hotels so I do know that it isn't all as amazing as it seems but I love it

AmandaHoldensLips · 25/02/2021 20:31

Am I the only one who cannot read the labels on the shampoo conditioner body wash body lotion bottles without my glasses? Body lotion is an absolute bastard to get out of your hair.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 25/02/2021 20:32

breakfast, ideally a buffet of cold cuts, plus hot to order.

There's also one place where we had a real fire, which is a joy when it's all been swept and laid by someone else.

MinnieJackson · 25/02/2021 20:33

Breakfast buffet!

Kottbullar · 25/02/2021 20:36

That if I'm staying in one then in means I'm usually away to have fun.
Hotels themselves I'm not particularly bothered by.

BloodyCovid · 25/02/2021 20:37

I like reading the rules in the booklets telling you what time breakfast is, how to order dinner, what there is to do in the local area etc. It’s the first thing I do when I get in the room!

I also love eating 3 course breakfasts, with almost everything from the buffet eaten, especially coco pops and pastries!

RandomUsernameHere · 25/02/2021 20:37

Being somewhere different and exciting
Not having to do any housework!
I absolutely love hotels!

52andblue · 25/02/2021 20:38

I was going to say a deep bath then sitting in a bedroom chair in a bath sheet drinking champagne thinking about getting ready for dinner.

But 'sex with a waiter' might be more exciting (long lockdown...) ? Grin

Bluewavescrashing · 25/02/2021 20:38

All of it 🥰
