Anyone remember Pigeon Street??

I was reading a thread on here about tv series from the 90’s and showed a few to my DD12. She asked what my favourite programme of ‘all time’ was when I was little. After much thought I decided on Pigeon Street. We looked on YouTube and watched a couple of episodes and she looked totally bemused as to why I liked it....Grin

I don’t really know why but it just gives me a warm, happy feeling Smile and I shall be spending tomorrow morning re watching them all!

Watto1 · 24/02/2021 19:44

Molly and Polly the twins and Mr Mackadoo the vet (“He’s got the knackado!”)

choosername1234 · 24/02/2021 19:45

I loved Long-distance Clara, a woman before her time 🚚

Laila747 · 24/02/2021 19:46

I’m so glad other people loved it too! I was starting to question my taste Grin

They don’t make ‘em like that anymore!

Loved Pigeon Street! The two ladies who pretend they hate each other, but actually couldn't do without the other one.

Molly and Polly who are identical until they turn around.

Long Distance Clara, and Hugo, her chef husband

If you lived, in Pigeon Street,
Here are the people you could meet,
Here are the people who would say,
Hello, goodbye, hello, goodbye, everyday.
If you lived, in Pigeon Street,
Here are the people you could meet,
Here are the people who would share
The sights, the sounds, the air, where...,
Pigeons beat, their wings wings beat,
Pigeons beat, their wings wings beat,
To meet in Pigeon Street
🐦
Loved it as well as Button Moon and Gran.

Molly and Polly
They're two of a kind
They look both the same
When they're seen from behind
But when they turn round
Then it's easy to see
Who's Molly with an M
And Polly with a P

Grin Isn't it amazing how things from childhood stick fast in your memory? Hymns from school, early Kylie songs - I'm still word perfect after 30 years.

sm40 · 24/02/2021 19:53

Haha! My husband and I were singing the song earlier today and my 2 kids were like WTF. I then went into the usual rant of 2 hours of kids tv, no choice when I was a child! I'm not sure they can comprehend what it was like!!

Bobbybobbins · 24/02/2021 19:59

Mr Mackadoo! I'd forgotten about him! Brilliant!

NewYearNewTwatName · 24/02/2021 20:01

ha that's weird about an hour end up talking to ds about pigeon street and ended up googling it.

yes I loved pigeon street too, it was just really nice to watch.

Unfucked · 24/02/2021 20:02

It was a golden age of programming.

Trumpton, Chigley, Camberwick Green
Cockleshell Bay
Ivor the Engine
King Rollo
Mr Benn
Bod
Willo the Wisp
Pigeon Street
Bagpuss

DH wants to add Jamie and the Magic Torch and Battle of the Planets, but they weren’t my favourites at all.

Laila747 · 24/02/2021 20:02

@SkepticalCat that’ll be going on my birthday list!!!

And I don’t care one bit that it’ll be my 40th birthday either!!

Does anyone remember Cockleshell Bay? Might have been on ITV.

Lovemusic33 · 24/02/2021 20:03

Wasn’t it on in the 80’s not 90’s (or maybe both)?

I was born in 1982 and watched it when I was 3/4, also loved the Raggy Dolls.

cataline · 24/02/2021 20:04

I loved Pigeon Street! And Cockleshell Bay too!

MiniMaxi · 24/02/2021 20:04

Happy memories! Loved Pigeon Street, Trumpton, Camberwick Green, Postman Pat etc.

stickysticks · 24/02/2021 20:05

Long distance Clara was my childhood role model. I told everyone I wanted to be a lorry driver when I grew up! (I secretly still do but considering I struggle to reverse park my little Ford Fiesta I don't think manoeuvring a juggernaut is the career for me!)

Lookingoutside · 24/02/2021 20:08

Yeah of course! ☺️☺️☺️ Long distance Clara was also my heroine. Wasn’t it 80s though?

Who remembers Button Moon and Mr Rossi?

Laila747 · 24/02/2021 20:11

Yes it was the 80’s! It was just the thread about 90’s programmes that made me think about what I watched growing up. I was born in 81 Smile
