Anyone remember Pigeon Street??

I was reading a thread on here about tv series from the 90’s and showed a few to my DD12. She asked what my favourite programme of ‘all time’ was when I was little. After much thought I decided on Pigeon Street. We looked on YouTube and watched a couple of episodes and she looked totally bemused as to why I liked it....Grin

I don’t really know why but it just gives me a warm, happy feeling Smile and I shall be spending tomorrow morning re watching them all!

Also cockleshell bay that was mentioned up thread was a fave of mine. I have a book called 'a Cockleshell Christmas' kicking about upstairs and I always love to read it to the kids during the festive season.

So many of those programmes were just lovely.

@shivermetimbers77

One word: Dogtanian
Also loved Dogtanian! Aren't they making it into a film?

Definitely 80s. I was born in 77 and I loved pigeon street.

Bric a Brac and Mr Benn were my favourites.

Yes I think pigeon street was early 80s, I was born on 73 and I don’t remember it when i was pre school age. My pre school favourites were the flumos, bagpuss, bod, mr Ben and Chorlton and the wheelies. There used to be a kids programme each lunchtime after pebble mill at one, I remember always feeling disappointed when it was heads and tails.

Does anyone remember the Charmings. That was on Saturday mornings. Willo the Wisp was brilliant.

Quartz2208 · 24/02/2021 22:48

Cant believe only 13 episodes

CalmConfident · 24/02/2021 22:54

Whatwouldscullydo · 24/02/2021 23:02

Oh god yes that string from his jumper that unraveled

Embroideredstars · 24/02/2021 23:14

@stickysticks

Long distance Clara was my childhood role model. I told everyone I wanted to be a lorry driver when I grew up! (I secretly still do but considering I struggle to reverse park my little Ford Fiesta I don't think manoeuvring a juggernaut is the career for me!)
This is me! Still like the idea of being a long distance lorry driver, but I'm not the greatest car driver really Grin
NiceGerbil · 24/02/2021 23:15

I also loved Clara!

Alrightnow · 24/02/2021 23:17

Does anyone remember Small Wonder? It was an American series. The dad made a robot called Vicki

ethelredonagoodday · 25/02/2021 07:48

I've always thought there would be a strong market for a retro (80s) kids tv channel with all these classics on it!

I have loads on dvd, pigeon st, the flumps, mr Ben, Jamie and the magic torch, chorlton and the wheelies, he man! 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣

Lookingoutside · 25/02/2021 10:05

He Man! ☺️ There was always an inspirational message or bit of life advice at the end.

I spent most of my childhood in the Middle East, but we got videos sent over from England with these awesome programmes!

Pigeon Street (I used to call it Pigeon Lane!), Rainbow, Button Moon, Jamie and the Magic Torch, Fraggle Rock, Super Gran, the Moomins, the Wombles, Blue Peter, Dogtanion, The Get Along Gang (animals on roller-skates), Alice and Crow (from Watch with Mother - or whatever it was called! I was scared of Crow when I was really little!), that art program with Tony Hart(?), the program with the little plasticine man...

In the ME, we had...Sesame Street, The Looney Tunes and Merry Melodies, He-Man, Thundercats, Defenders of the Earth, Captain Planet, Transformers, Dennis the Menace, Small Wonder, ALF, Jem (the doll with bleached blonde, pink hair and insane makeup choices...that was also a rockstar!!), Maxi's World, Out of This World (I think that is what it was called, it had a girl called Evie in it)...I really need to go and look some of these up!

PS Clara absolutely rocked!!!

Weirdfan · 26/02/2021 09:07

Has Puddle Lane had a mention yet? Neil Innes as the magician if I remember rightly Smile
