Anyone remember Pigeon Street??

I was reading a thread on here about tv series from the 90’s and showed a few to my DD12. She asked what my favourite programme of ‘all time’ was when I was little. After much thought I decided on Pigeon Street. We looked on YouTube and watched a couple of episodes and she looked totally bemused as to why I liked it....Grin

I don’t really know why but it just gives me a warm, happy feeling Smile and I shall be spending tomorrow morning re watching them all!

NoddyHoldersCrazee · 24/02/2021 20:30

I can’t believe it’s out on DVD! When DD was little I hinted and hunted for it but nothing, now it’s out!

Spottysausagedogs · 24/02/2021 20:50

Yes I read the same thread, then coming home from the shops earlier saw an actual pigeon outside my house and it came flooding back. It was great although I dont remember it in as much detail, I was preschool then. It did get me thinking, how the heck did people with several small children at home cope without ceebeebies Grin. My siblings were much older than me so my mum only had me to contend with at home. My 3 are close in age and spirited to say the least, im not sure how I'd have ever kept the house straight 😅

But I do remember the theme tune to wind in the willows as clear as yesterday, and the theme to Thames TV with 'THAMES' rising up out of the water to a funny little trumpet tune.

Roselilly36 · 24/02/2021 21:06

Yes I remember Pigeon Street, I loved The Flumps too and Mr Benn, Metal Micky.

Peakedin1997 · 24/02/2021 21:10

It was ahead of its time. I wanted to name dd Clara after long distance Clara Grin

Wellthisisallfuckingmarvellous · 24/02/2021 21:21

@SpottysausagedogsOk this is going to make me feel like a loon but for fucking years I’ve had an ear worm humming the bastard tune from the wind in the willows soundtrack without never knowing where it came from. Just the tune and the follow my voice bit

I finally know. Thank you for putting me out of my misery! It’s like a weight has been lifted.

Loved it! Also mysterious cities of gold.

BashfulClam · 24/02/2021 21:39

I used to have a banana watching it in the afternoon as a pre-schooler. Makes me think of bananas lol.

@Wellthisisallfuckingmarvellous
Grin happy to be of service. That kind of thing happens to me all the time. Interestingly, I did recently discover that Google have a search engine for tunes that you can just hum or intoned into the mic and it will try to match it to a song for you. You just go to Google and say "Google, what's this tune" iirc

NiceGerbil · 24/02/2021 21:58

Remember pigeon street! I always think of button moon when I think of pigeon street not sure why.

I've done the same with my kids I'm a bit older.

They have failed to enjoy

Noggin the nog
Original moomins
Ivor the engine
Fragile rock
The clangers

Over the years.

We tried one of DH childhood faves the other day- count duckula. And all 4 of us agreed it was terrible Grin

Pigeon Street was amazing, my absolute favourite, of course Long Distance Claaarraaaa was my favourite!

They were such lovely, gentle programmes, ahhh.

I was singing 'Tickle on the Tum' to DD the other day, she thought I was nuts!

It's amazing! I have it on dvd and I also have a long distance Clara mug!

Longdistance · 24/02/2021 22:14

Well, my username is because of Longdistance’s name. This was my nickname at school. Quite appropriate when I became cabin crew 🤣
